  1. also for adding programs to be installed after windows is, i would suggest you follow hte steps listed HERE it makes it look very professional and does a great job. for info on how to get all different sorts of programs to install silently check out THIS section of msfn, it has all you need to know.
  2. not really, its harder to chage things after you nlited the cd, like if you wanted to add windows components back in and stuff, plus nlite will setup the unattended part for you if you dont know how to do it yourself. trust me just download nlite copy your windows cd to your hard drive and run nlite on it. pnce you knwo how to do it you;ll be making a new cd every couple days just to try different things out.
  3. has anyone signed up and gotten a reply back yet via email, i did about 4 days ago and still no word yet and they still haven't charged my credit card shipping or anything... stupid me forgot to copy down my order number thing too... err...
  4. well you can make a cd yourself using just your own windows xp cd, check out the nlite forum for more information (nlite is really easy to use, very step by step). or better yet ask your friend to show you, he must know the basics if he made his own already.
  5. add the files before you use nlite or do anything else, and make sure you get ALL the files that you need, if you dont you'll get a error when you try to run wmp saying the setup was messed up.
  6. the school's network may have it restricted to G only because in most cases anytime a B connection enters the network ALL connections drop down to B speeds... this is bad so the netadmins simply diable B connections to prevent this. if i were you i would buy a usb adapter as stated before and swap from comp to comp as needed and then when you get more money buy a PCMCIA card for your laptop. or if you really want to get something spiffy do a search on pricewatch for a PCMCIA to PCI adapter for your pc. then buy just one PCMCIA card and swap them between the 2.
  7. no problem, just one warning sometimes when resource hacker compiles the script it messes up so if you get an error trying to run explorer just edit the original again and recompile it.
  8. i found this out just playing around with explorer.exe using Resource Hacker, but if you open explorer.exe up and edit string table 38 and remove line 595 so that it looks like this: STRINGTABLE LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US { 593, "Notification Area" 594, "Running Applications" 603, "The application is either too busy or unable to respond to your request to close." 604, "Forcing it to close may cause that application to lose data. Do you want to force it to close?" } the start button goes away.... but you can still use the windows key to bring up the start button menu. also if you edit line 595 you can change the start button text: STRINGTABLE LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US { 593, "Notification Area" 594, "Running Applications" 595, "Enter Start Button Text Here" 603, "The application is either too busy or unable to respond to your request to close." 604, "Forcing it to close may cause that application to lose data. Do you want to force it to close?" } but this is only for non-themed desktops to edit one that has a theme you have to mess with string table 37.
  9. or if you have a legit copy of xp pro x32 you can upgrade for free (well it cost $12 in shipping) to x64 pro just go HERE
  10. what if by next version they mean x64? (in note 14 on the linked page above) that would cut the life down a more than a year.
  11. i have 560GB on this computer, 3x120gb and 2x100gb i got a 120 as a single and 2 120's in a raid as well as my 2 100's in a raid. if i total all 5 of my computers up i have well over a TB in storage space.
  12. handhelds are all but dead a cell phone option is the way to go for sure, and i have to agree that motorola knows how to make a good phone.
  13. godan

    XPize uAE 1.2

if you just added modifype in this build why didnt windows give me file errors durring setup? did you do something else that does the same thing?
  14. what do you mean by this? like having a front door on your case?
  15. well i have a total of 5 personal computers and id say that on avg they each get a fresh os install 2 times a month.
  16. i think it depends on what the password is for, all i know is i hate when places require certain things, like you must have x amount of numbers bla bla bla i like my pass to be whatever i want it to be, the last thing i need is another random password to remember just to log on to a message board or sometrhing, not that this one does that nind you..
  17. is it just me or are the controller ports missing? i mean there are memory slots in the picture and then 3 other different single ports but nothing for 2 or more controllers.... wireless perhaps?
  18. the new nlite tweak still didnt work for me, is it something with using the "net user" method posted on http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/users.htm to create my user account? this is one of the last few kinks i need to work out of my unattended xp cd.
  19. why not put your setup on dvd if it is that big? i mean you can get a new dual layer dual format 16x dvd burner with lightscribe for $92 (go to pricewatch.com and search for BenQ DW1625) shipped to your door... if you dont have one (any dvd burner at all) its time to upgrade i think.
  20. i download the updates from microsofts downloads page and then extract the updates fiiles, patch them to meet my needs(i hate when they update ntoskrnl or shell32... it takes forever to make everything how i like it), modifype them, then compress them, and then toss them into my i386 dir of my install source.
  21. incase anyone didnt know or notice that in the gta3:sa commercials that there is now an xbox logo... the game is set to be released on June 6, 2005 for xbox and pc and will be beefed up like gta2 was graphicly and will have extra features.
  22. as an update for the newer drivers: Windows XP/2000 Version: 71.89 Release Date: April 14, 2005 WHQL Certified U.S. English File Size: 19.4 MB everything is the same except there are 2 new files that you should have and those are: TOSGFX.dl_ (TOSGFX.dll) NvColor.ex_ (NvColor.exe)
  23. still the play list files are not recognized by windows setup.
  24. just fyi, there are extra files in this pack, like the play lists and such that are NOT even recognized by windows when it installs so adding them will do nothing (the files just take up cd space since windows doesnt even know they are there) unless you edit the setup file entries, this is also why you must NOT remove wmp with nlite. so... you can delete them.
