  1. what on earth am I supposed to do to slipstream KB898461 to a xp sp2 ua disk? as far as i can tell there are no files to add, is this like KB903235?
  2. http://www.zophar.net/ is by far the best place to go for emulator news and links. and yes there are some emulators that are just as good as the original. try zsnes for one. it even has online play for snes.
  3. where the hell did you read that pile of sh1t? stupidest thing ever.
  4. I played it for a while and i thought it was fun but I hate that blizz is charging now for online play, bakc in the day i was a d2 junkie, as well as sc and wc but those were all free to play. $15 a month sux. xbox live is only $6 and you can play 100's of games for the same $6... all xbox 360 needs to do is get one good mmorpg and WoW is done for.
  5. i said 360 since it is gong to be the first one i buy but i will def buy nintendos next machine. i just bought animal crossing for my g/f (to play on the cube i got her for xmas) the other week and I have been playing it nonstop ever since i watched her play for a little bit. i put aside my xbox and my halo2 and havent touched it since.. i've always been a nintendo fan, becuase if you think about it are there really any game series better than zelda, metriod, mario, donkey kong, earth bound, final fantasy (remember it started here people)... the list just goes on and they keep adding to it.
  6. this seems to be a very well done comparison (by microsoft...) and i think that all the sony fanboys will be sad but it really does seem realistic and makes sence... http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html
  7. are these full shell replacements or just basic function replacements? this is a just a basic function replacement... but not a full substitute: BBLean this is more of a full replacement but... it's not a single file so it would be harder to splipstreamonto a uA install of windows: Aston
  8. it's been like 2 weeks now it seems and they still havent charged my card or sent me an email... err... i couldnt remember my purchase date either so i just guessed, maybe thats slowing it down. i dont know.
  9. i chose 10 only cuz i like to have the newest crap... even if it is infact crap.
  10. you want to use this version of the service pack http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en yes it is possible to remove things just like with sp1 plus there are sp2 only things that you can remove as well. the service things is pretty close to the same as before with a few minor things, some are more dependant on others now, but you can search the forum for all that info. ryans pack should work fine for you as long as you are using a english version of xp. also this may help your wmp10 problem as well.
  11. try extracting them and placing them in the i386 dir uncompressed and with thier full file name. this may solve your problem.
  12. you use resource hacker and play around with the bmp's in explorer.exe
  13. if i may ask, why are you not using sp2? is there some software that you use that will not run under sp2? unless there is some major conflict with some thing i would strongly suggest slipstreaming sp2. this alone may solve some of your problems. you wont have to worry about many of those hot fixes for one.
  14. or is it only for msdn people? i was just wondering because i would like to try it out and even more-so i would like to play around with the icons and other resources from shell32.dll and such to customize my xp files...
  15. how much does she know about using windows? i ask because you could simply remove the volume icon from the taskbar via her control panel if she is a noob.
  16. sp2 is great, never had any problems with it at all and i like what it adds. im looking forward to sp3, it seems now that it will only really have wmp10, ie7, and security fixes though.
  17. do you apply any registry tweaks durring your install? if you do you might want to double check them to make sure that you dont have anything there removing the drives. second if you go to your control panel and open your administrative tools the open computer managment and look under "storage"->"disk management" are the drives listed there and if they are check to see if there is an option to make them available. also sometimes burning apps and other software can break windows recognition of drives even installing windows over an older os can do this, check HERE and see if this fixes your problem too.
  18. i dont know ive never tried it without it. i think it just saves you the trouble of a few steps durring the first time you run wmp.
  19. thats the error i get when i dont compleatly copy all the wmp10 files and some files are still version 9 so my guess would be that there is something wrong with your slipstream files try downloading the pack provided HERE and see if that fixes your problem.
  20. why not validate once, download all the programs that you need than add them to your unnattended cd and then never worry about validating again? if later on some more programs become available just repeat the process, validating does nothing else but give you access to certain file so there is no need to do it once you have said files.
  21. if your copy of windows is legit i dont see what the problem is... but you could always seach emule for PStory.msi. You don't need to validate to install photostory only to download it.
  22. i think someone got x64 confused with longhorn, longhorn will req winpe for unnattended installs because dos will be 100% MIA, and as a side note there is no winnt.sif file on a normal xp cd either, there is only one there if you put it there nothing has changed.
  23. yeah i know people say to do it the otherway around but i do it this way everytime and it works, the only times it dont are because i dont select and copy all the files over but thats no ones fault but my own (i click drag and select without scrolling all the way down or something).
  24. i have things setup so that there are no history files kept and such or i'd have done that. theres a trade off for everything i guess. no traces = no way to check old visited pages,
