Silent Windows 7 installation
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to SirHaschke's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
You already have the answer in the forum where you posted, just scroll a bit up and look at the sticky topics. You will see a few tools, all created for an unattended Win7 install. vLite is one of them (although originally created for Vista). Cheers -
I got it to work from RunOnce! The biggest problem I had was to create a partition and name it D:\ in VirtualBox, which I did by splitting the VHD, formatting one partition into NTFS (Quick) and then hitting restart. The procedure began again. This time I formatted the second partition (which was already in FAT32) into NTFS (Quick) and the newly formatted partition took drive letter C:\ when I installed on it. The recommended amount was 388MB, and I got 389MB. This is a snapshot of the end result

It seems you haven't ;-)Welcome to MSFN Edit: this is probably what you're getting http://www.msfn.org/...__1#entry790491 , but Last Session.ini would still be the ground point for us. I also hope you haven't run nLite more than once on the same XP source.

Cool! I was thinking of putting in a batch file and doing something like REM Setting virtual memory start /wait %source%$OEM$\VM\setVM.exe because I was interested whether it would work if it was run before the actual first logon. I'll test this too and get back. Cheers

How to add programs as add-ons in nLite?
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to john10001's topic in Application Add-Ons
No. The first line points to an install point from your HDD. If you want it this way, put Office2003 folder in $OEM$\$1\ This way the contents will get copied to C:\ and they will be executed from there. Another thing (and I need confirmation for this) is that I'm not sure that if you call PRO11.msi, you will get an unattended setup. The second line installs directly from CD. One of the benefits is smaller install time, since the contents of the $OEM$ folder don't get copied to C:\ It's up to you to choose Cheers -
It is safe to delete the contents inside the folder, unless you have some program running at the moment. Most cleaners include it in the "Delete" list Cheers
-
You were right, it just can't get any simpler that this All we need now is someone with more understanding of the XP install process to tell us if it can be run through RunOnce. Keep up the good work
-
I suggest you install unlocker http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ (the only tool I can think of at this hour), right-click explorer.exe and select Unlocker. It will show you all the processes hung to explorer.exe.

How to add programs as add-ons in nLite?
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to john10001's topic in Application Add-Ons
1. Use the ORK 2003 to create an unattended installation, with the serial and everything and save the settings in UNATTENDED.MST. 2. Copy the folder (e.g. name: Office2003) into $OEM$ and place this command in a batch file start /wait %Source%$OEM$\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=UNATTENDED.MST /qb- 3.Save the batch as batch.cmd in the root of the XP folder (next to I386 and $OEM$). In nLite->Unattended section->RunOnce enter this command cmd /R %source%batch.cmd and press Add. That's it; Office 2003 will install from the XPCD. If you add more files to the $OEM$ folder, you can call and install them from batch.cmd Hope that helps -
In my case, I have one primary partition on one HDD (apart from the system drive), but will it be any different if there are two separate HDDs? If more explanation is needed, I mainly divide pagefile.sys because of free space; a small amount (256MB, for example) on C:\ and the rest on D:\ Cheers
-
So, from what I see, you have set pagefile size to be constructed as physically available RAM x 1.5. In numbers: I have 768MB, but 751 are usable (shared video card) So, 751x1.5=1126.5, and I got 1127. Conclusion: Congrats! It worked for me P.S. A small insight on how some other members do it; for example, cluberti has posted this http://www.cluberti.com/blog/2010/06/17/pagefile-vbs-for-vistawin7-systems-may-work-on-xp2003-not-tested/ in .vbs to be run with cscript. Now, pagefile.sys is set by default to be created on the system drive (normally c:\), but I wonder if it could also be split on two drives, like I normally do it.

@Cosmin3 That would sure help some people around here I look forward to testing it ;-)

Well, either you can get the latest driver from the AMD website http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/integrated-win7-64.aspx , or you can dig a bit through the Catalyst Control Center AFTER hooking up the projector for Dual Display options. Cheers

How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to ilko_t's topic in Install Windows from USB
OK, I'll try your suggestions. By default, how big is XPpSP3.ISO? XP folder is 473MB, and USB stick is 478MB, so cdob may be right. If so, I will try with a bigger USB stick. But I'd really like it if I can fit an XP install to this USB, even just XP with no RunOnce programs. The $OEM$ folder is 62MB, so if that does the trick, I'll redo (delete) it. BTW, the GUI didn't show an error with copying, just a small window "Job done!", so I assumed everything is OK. (Assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups, right?) Thanks -
How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to ilko_t's topic in Install Windows from USB
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear; when I said I meant there is no XPpSP3.ISO on the USB key. From what I saw in the log, XPpSP3.ISO is created in the TEMP folder. Here's the log WinSetupFromUSB.7z and this is the screenshot if I choose "Second part of setup" -
Windows 2003 Slipstreaming SATA drivers?
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to theheartofwinter's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
nLite really does the trick, but when theheartofwinter says "we", I presume he means the company he works for, therefore, he can't use nLite due to the personal use license it is released under. Fred Vorck's site, on the other hand, is really resourceful and I'd recommend sticking to it. http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/70-unattended-windows-2000xp2003/ is also a place where search can reveal a lot. How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to ilko_t's topic in Install Windows from USB
This was my first try with the GUI (1.0 Beta 6). I made an nLited copy of XP (470MB) and got a TakeMS 512MB USB, The size was 483MB, but after RMprepUSB it became 478MB. Formatted it into FAT32 without the option to boot as HDD, pointed to the XP folder and added QEMU for testing. It took a while (over 30 min.) to copy, but that's not really important. When QEMU started,I got the option to start PLoP or XP install (chose #2) and this screen appeared I chose "First part of setup" and got this I also opened "Second part of setup" and PLoP, but didn't see anything useful. What confuses me is that XPpSP3.ISO line, since I didn't find any. What am I doing wrong? Thanks -

My Computer and Show Desktop lost icons
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Sp0iLedBrAt's topic in Wallpapers & Icons
Well, this spoiled brat IS feeling kinda spiteful and wants to see the end of this unpleasant issue for the sake of posterity, but has also begun preparations for a new nLited install (this time through USB), which is maybe even overdue. It's just that I can't shake the felling that one of the possible reasons could also be KB2286198.exe... -
How to add programs as add-ons in nLite?
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to john10001's topic in Application Add-Ons
No. You could ask someone to make it for you (if that's possible) by posting a new topic with [REQUEST] at the beginning of the title. Here, I'll look into Agent Newsreader and tell you if I can do it. Cheers EDIT: Looks like you're in luck; you can find the add-on in the link in my signature Size: 9.46MB MD5: 795e8f5312d5478bd0de58cca92ed483 -
