  1. That would be a hack, or to say a work-around that goes deeper then forcing AHCI to install on an ICH9 under XP. I never tried it or looked for it, as the Matrix software is only good for RAID and some other small options that a normal user will never touch.
  2. Looks like a dead mobo or bad RAM to me, use memtest to see if it gives no errors on the RAM. Also look for bad capacitors around the CPU voltage regulators aria.
  3. Don’t push it there . That was more sales talk then was needed .But, we welcome your list on your site and I’m sure people would see it as useful indeed.
  4. Yes, I understand that. It’s like using things without permission could be illegal, like guns, but to distribute it or produce it isn’t illegal. Then there is reverse engineering and more, and like you said it also depends on the part of the world we are in. (Just remember that this is an international board although the server is placed in one country, so we have to respect international laws.) It’s a discussion that never stops and I know what you are thinking now: "Why did you brought up that point any way?". Well, it was just a general warning not to go in illegal stuff . My younger brother has spent years on MSX emulators (search "vampier" and "MSX" in Google or so) by the way.
  5. Throughput benchmarks will show nothing, you can see that in the posts I made before, but boot times, load times of programs/games and a bit more can be seen easily. Glad it worked all out well .
  6. Then it’s time they adjust that EULA, June 30th 2008 would just be a "dead-line" nothing more. cluberti gave already the real expire dates and how they are calculated.
  7. Naa, sure it´s not correct, check this out.
  8. I would like to add 2 things more: - A 30" Monitor needs the appropriate hardware to get the screen working on it’s native resolution, thus DUAL DVI is needed. - A LCD-TV does not have a 16:10 size ratio, it has 16:9 and some games will not have these display settings.
  9. It could be that the Samsung drive is set on SATA 300MB/s, that would explain the malfunction of the drive. It seems that Samsung doesn’t provide a jumper setting on there drives so it must be set in the firmware, something hard to change by a "user". If possible, I would take the drive back and see if you can indeed get another WD. On that WD you place the jumper at the same position. Remember that these jumpers are only mending for configuration of the interface and not Master/Slave settings like on the older P-ATA drives. And you are welcome, this is why we are here, to help each other out and I’m sure you will help some one when he/she is in need of help too .
  10. It’s just an example I made, and that can be done in 1/3 the time you used .
  11. Forget it, each stream needs a 350MHz CPU at least... so let’s say you will need some 1.5GHz to do the 4 streams, not to forget the I/O power that is needed...
  12. LE, as in "Last Edition" I hope, not Lite Edition... just found it funny . Limited in what?, just messing around now but it already sounds like cars .
  13. On the last drive image you can se where the jumper goes, this should solve your problem .
  14. Your welcome, by the way, on what motherboard did you enable it?
  15. Some drives have a place for the jumper at the side of the drive where you connect your power and data cable. Some drives come with the jumper on them, some not. What we would like to know are the exact model numbers.
  16. It can´t hurt to try it, but is there are AHCI option in your BIOS? Hi. I am All ears. Not only you!I’m not a programmer at all, just like to dig in stuff (Especially when nLite was just at the beginning) and this topic came up. I made it for people who I advised a P35 motherboard with ICH9(not R) SB and could not enable AHCI under XP. At that time I didn’t know that this topic would get popular and never thought about the "other" chipsets from Intel or to enable it after installation on ICR9R or with Vista.
  17. Those two 500GB drives are the same? Check for jumpers on the drive it self, you should set the drives to SATA "1" and not to SATA "2".
  18. Also set the "view" dept to "not far". I wonder what Video card you have in that machine but I have seen ATI´s 9250 doing well with a PIII, a 9550 would do best (PCI or AGP).
  19. Sure he could, but that would not be legal, would it?
  20. Or at the end of September, it depends how you want to read it.
  21. Yup, it’s really easy to do. 19 Capacitors, wow, you knocked your self out there! Where they all that bad? Normally you only replace the ones around the voltage regulators... I'd love to see you cut off the excess metal with your teeth By the way, if you bend the metal wire to much it will break by it self .
  22. I presume it’s an Intel system? Just clean out the cooler and the thermal grease between the CPU and cooler and put some new thermal grease there . It’s sure a heat problem. Check also: - Capacitors - Power supply - reseat RAM and Video Card (if it has one)
  23. Not to bad, 8800 Ultra and 9800GTX on par . If they would only set it with 1GB GDDR4 you would see a better difference...
  24. They are already out...I would take a look at Gigabyte too, same price but just a bit better in every way...
