  1. Well, that card doesn’t pull 20A but a 20A 12V line is recommended for the whole system. What brand is it any way?
  2. It’s possible, but getting hot under full load, 70oC+ or they have there windows open (not the OS ) in the winter and get 50oC. Time for a new mobo? Yes, all Intel chipsets "normally" support only Crossfire.By the way, do your self a favor and buy the GA-P35-DS3L and save a lot, great OC board for less then 100USD . The only thing you get with the X38 is Crossfire, PCI-E 2.0, extra PCI-E lanes, a bit better ICH (10) and a FSB of 1600 (but even a good P35 can do 2000MHz IF your RAM can pull it), also the X38 will empty your pocket better with 250USD and up...
  3. So, you need to dig deeper then, I’m sure it’s not a hardware problem. I would check your drivers and reinstall your lightscribe software. Moving your topic to the XP forum part as it fits better there .
  4. There are also "home-phone-center" units that cost about 50 to 100 bucks, but I think it´s time to go digital now... I would ask at your locale phone shop.
  5. computerMan, that’s funny, the background of your blog made me think I had a dirty screen . Looking way better then before by the way…
  6. Well, its Windows related as most laptop BIOSes don’t have so much settings in general. Just do the following: Run REGEDIT and go to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard -> InitialKeyboardIndicators, it’s set to 1, set it to 0. Use any of the following values, depending on the combination of keys you want turned on or off: 0 - Turns off Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock 1 - Turns on Caps Lock 2 - Turns on Num Lock 3 - Turns on Caps Lock and Num Lock 4 - Turns on Scroll Lock 5 - Turns on Caps Lock and Scroll Lock 6 - Turns on Num Lock and Scroll Lock 7 - Turns on Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll Lock Exit the Registry. Restart and the new setting will take effect.
  7. So, I will move this topic to the Vista forum part .
  8. Also, if it’s a 2.5" and only USB powered try another port (e.g. not the front but the back connectors or visa versa) or a "dual USB cable" that should have come with the drive/enclosure.
  9. What’s the drive model and brand? What software are you using?
  10. Indeed, 3GHz with the stock cooler is about the max. you can get. What about the motherboard? What are you planning to use?
  11. It’s your Operating System (OS) that is accessing the hard drive. This could be to unload programs and DLLs from your memory or to optimize your HDD when idle. If you would be so kind to tell us what OS you are using I will move your topic to the appropriate forum part, e.g. Vista or XP. It’s not a hardware related thing...
  12. That´s a plug´n´play screen, you don´t need to install a driver for it other then the one that comes with Windows...
  13. No need for that, just pick value RAM from a known "brand" or with good PCB and ICs. I can tell you that I’m really happy with my too much OCed cheap *ss RAM, and if it’s smokes it smokes, not going to cry about it, just replace it again (still 4 times cheaper then the ones you have) .
  14. Indeed. I would like to add that the LCD doesn’t "act funny" but it’s just slowing down. Technical specifications say that the working temperature should be -30C~+70C, so you will "act funny" before your LCD does . Just think about it this way, the cristals changes slower when colder, also expand a little bit as liquids expand when “freezing”...
  15. yes with 2 words, zxian gave me better info .
  16. That´s good to know that EVGA accepts an after market cooler . So they did!
  17. Err... I did it on paper before, including calculating the user times by head and what they needed to pay... it’s just a way of doing it. But I agree, when you have 25+ computers it would be good to have some software that counts for you...
  18. If you are lucky and they have no time to check it at that moment they do , but "normally" they don’t... or did they changed there warranty policy?
  19. No, no one gives you warranty when removing the headsink... So, if you do it I would test the card before modding it for a few weeks or so...
  20. But it will void the warranty .
  21. NCQ will be automatically enabled if your drive supports it, in your case with a Seagate 320GB SATA (I presume a 7200.10 series drive) it will be automatically enabled. The write cashing always goes with a warning, you can loose data when your computer doesn’t close a session well or turns of suddenly.
  22. Step one is only when you don’t have a floppy drive, you can also run the EXE file downloaded and edit/run it from there.
  23. No there is not, they just put a wrong programmed chip in that screen, take it back to the shop or call the Viewsonic service desk...
  24. I would like to add, that the Q6600 would not be the best choice, that would be the Q9300/2.66GHz/6MB/1,333MHz. Although its multiplier and cash are lower then the Q6600, it can be overclocked easy and better then the Q6600. The 6% overall performance gain of the new core and the higher clock makes it up with the multiplier and the extra cache from the Q6600. The price isn’t that much higher, we are talking about a price difference of 30-40 USD. What I see so far, as I could not test it my self yet, the Q9300 OCes close to 4GHz IF your motherboard can handle 500MHz FSB, but that should not be a problem with a top of the line DFI, MSI (yes they are coming back), Gigabyte or ASUS .
  25. Looks like an overheating problem to me; can you check your temperatures in the BIOS and post them? Are you sure the CPU cooler is attached well and you removed any plastic foil from the downside of the cooler? Other problems could be: - Bad RAM - Bad power Supply Unit (PSU) - Bad Motherboard Welcome to THE forums by the way .
