Universal 19V Charger good for lower Voltages?
puntoMX replied to Justas's topic in Hardware Hangout
Let’s say that 15% over voltage would not be such a problem, but from 19 to 14 volts would be a big step. I would not try it; you can fry every thing inside... -
New coolers from Arctic Cooling Arctic Cooling has released two new video card coolers for the ATI HD2900 and nVidia 8800 series. They go under the name Accelero Xtreme 2900 and Accelero Xtreme 8800. Three 80mm-fans and five heatpipes have to keep these GPUs at better temperature levels. Arctic Cooling succeeded, as they say, to keep there temperatures down by 20oC over the stock ATI/nVidia coolers. A big plus over the stock coolers is also the lower sound production; the HD2900XT went from 2.2 to 0.7 Sone and the 8800Ultra from 1.1 also to 0.7 Sone. The new coolers use three 80mm fans and five headpipes penetrate 107 fins. The fans blades turn at a speed of 900 to 2000rpm, depending on the temperatures of the video card. Not only the GPU get’s cooled, also the memory. The Accelero Xtreme measures 256*88*21mm and weights 440 grams. Arctic Cooling says it can handle 240W of heat, so there is some head room for more hungry cards. I hope you enjoy looking at it as I do .

Post Pictures and Specifications of your computer here!

The maker is from Poland, close enough . Any way, did you try to play with the extra Memory timings in the BIOS? It should give you an OC of 30-40% without any pain (If your CPU can handle it indeed).

The Core2 had a bug as well, not as fatal as the AMD bug but they had one: kb936357. Intel was so lucky that they could "fix" it with a BIOS update.Just see things objective . I forgot about that, VMware cursed the Intel chips for it too...

That would be hard, I will try to check my backups and see if I can mail it to you, give me a day .

AHCI problem with my G33T-M2 ECS motherboard.
puntoMX replied to Dorkmaster's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
The board you have simply has no AHCI BIOS, so hit a dead end sadly enough. I will move your posts and replies from others to the hardware forum part... -
I thought about giving Bonestone that option, but it’s about 55USD more budged load . ACHI mode under Windows XP isn’t a problem if you follow for example the guide I posted in the XP section and the RAID performance isn’t that good as you would expect (an you know that very well with your monster RAID controller ). However, both are great motherboards and work with the components you have now. Layout is the same except for the 4 extra SATA ports on the R version and a bigger Northbridge cooler, also for the R version.

The Phenom performs well for it price, however, you would want to wait till the new "stepping" comes out. The Phenoms you find now have a big bug inside that could slow down the system by 20 to 30% in some cases. If you don’t overclock and you don´t want a Quad cored CPU, AMD would be the best choice. If you overclock, then go with Intel, if you want a Quad cored CPU then its Intel again. Don’t pay attention to people who have a short vision like jcarle; he’s an Intel freak for the last years and doesn’t know more then that. Err… Right…

Why would you worry about that rating? I would ask my self first what I would do with a video card. If it’s for playing games then I would leave the 8600GT and wait for the 9600GT or go for the 8800GS (160 USD!). Remember that your PSU needs to have enough power to pull any good VGA card...

PC3200 RAM only running at 166mhz with 200mhz FSB
puntoMX replied to electroglyph's topic in Hardware Hangout
So it was the chip count, e.g 16, 8 or 4 chips... I presume you needed the 16 chip version? VIA chipset? -
There are less to none good heartbeat watches let alone with MP3 in them. Do you self a favor and get one with a band around your upper body and a separated MP3 player, this way you will void the junk that is sold on the market and go for the good products .

The AOpen AX6BC must be, or close too 8 years now. In 1996 I started to sell AOpen motherboards as my main brand as they were one of the best for there price. The ABIT BX6-II's were nice with a lot of OC options for that time, to bad they used crap capacitors so after that I switched all motherboards that had a ABIT Sloth 1 to S370 adapter to ASUS CUBX motherboards to smoke the sh*t out of them (yep, I smoked one for real, 2.5volt on a Celeron 600 was too much ). There are E8190 CPUs too, but not seen much in the retail market so they must have gone to the OEM market. $239.99 Seems to be the price for the E8400, and 82.99 for the E2180...

http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/gallery/img...DR4_Card_02.jpg It’s the one from the link I presume... Strange indeed, I would say: - Bad temperature readings (Driver, VGA BIOS) - Bad attached cooler I’m sure it’s not your motherboard or PSU, when those are bad you will not even play any game. To tell you the truth, I would not even worry too much about it...

I was talking about the VGA card .

That screen cracked my desk, good my room was high enough . I like my ACER AL2016W screens, they are well priced, all the options a normal computer user needs, good colors and contrast (ratio 800:1 (yes, 800 NOT 600) but not that much difference wit 1000:1). Get one with DVI too, the AL2016W has DVI altrough some reviews say it doesn´t...

AOpen, did they make any thing good the last 8 years? Actually, the X38 (and X48) still uses ICH9. The X38 officially supports up to 1333. The X48 are binned X38's with official 1600 support.I changed that, it’s indeed the ICH9® that is still used, thank you for pointing me on that. The 1600MHz FSB support is indeed unofficial, but most motherboard makers sell them for 1600MHz FSB CPUs. It’s like the 945GC motherboards I have, normally supporting 800MHz but can be boosted with not to many problems to 1333MHz (standard BIOS setting). That Intel NIC is awesome indeed, when I start to have Steam powered tournaments on my machines (first they need better VGA cards) I will throw in these cards as well with a good Linksys switch.

And where did you get this information from? The Pentium Dual is based on the Core2 Conroe core, just less cache. There isn’t much difference between 1 and 2MB, but there is noticeable difference between 1 and 4MB Conroe’s. The E8400 will still be 3 times the price of the E2180, I wish the E8300 would be 163USD .

Better in what way? Others have: - Intel’s cheap RAID (better then nVidia that’s for sure) - More SATA ports - Better bridge cooling - Better power converters - FireWire - Dual NIC - Optical IN port It’s just what you need, so what makes a "better" motherboard for you? EDIT: forgot: (More) eSATA and USB brackets.
-
Replace the cooler with an other cooler from Coolermaster for example, they are cheap and have a 8cm fan on them that can be replaced with a "silent" fan if desired.

You must have deleted something when using nLite, although it could be that you didn’t "tell" nLite to do it, it does rewrite some installation parts... Moving it to the nLite forum .
