  1. Well, it was not needed to make a second topic, but read what I posted there. I hope it helps.
  2. Replace them all, they are cheap; let me see if I can find the module lay-out.
  3. There are no capacitors that drive the backlight, however, the power to the backlight module has capacitors but if those were damaged then most likely the screen would not even light up. Exactly, you have bad transistors; they overhead fast and thus aging goes faster too. Replacing them isn’t hard if you know soldering a bit, but before you remove them I would check your local electronics-store if they have them, or at least can order them. They should be cheap and you don’t need more then 6 of them (never saw a screen that used more then 6 and 2 coils). What brand/model do you have? HP?...
  4. Cool that we bring up this topic again. As I’m fixing more and more screens these days I found out that it’s a general backlight problem with many models/brands. Most of the time it’s a problem with bad transistors that drive the backlight coils, bad soldering points and the coils them selves. To replace coils will be hard as they are not sold at your local electronics-store, however, the transistors are basic pull-transistors that can be found in almost every electronics-store and re-soldering the bad/cold points is a peace of cake.
  5. That also depends on your motherboard BIOS settings as you already could read, and the Turbo-cache will only take the memory when it needs it, e.g. with more/larger textures for example in games. With the Gigabyte motherboards and any VGA card it will show 3.5GB in Windows XP/Vista 32bit, I didn´t test it with extra PCI/PCI-E cards like RAID controllers and so.
  6. Font-size has nothing to do with your screen resolution. People here are talking about fonts that can’t be read easily on a relative small screen, 15.4" @ 1920*1200 for example @ 70cm distance @ 72dpi font-size will get your eyes tired faster, unless you set it to twice the size or like you said 120dpi.
  7. You would like to wait for AMDs new stepping for the Phenom, and replace the Q6600 for a Q9300.
  8. Ow shoot, I forgot about that. Did you try it already?By the way, it’s not a hack, I’m not hacking any thing just editing the INI file and adding some keys to the registry .
  9. That´s the same problem as sebmex I presume . Just skip point 2 and all should be fine. No you don´t lose support for optical drives, but not all will work with ACHI enabled, that´s true. Indeed, that’s true. Also it will give you AHCI when setting up XP with the F6 button and will let you install the Matrix drivers after installing XP.
  10. If they only updated there charts... No sign of the newer CPU there...
  11. sebmex, You have a ICH9R, so you need to skip step 2, your chipset is already in that INI file. 12. Well, I´m sure the drive is okay indeed, but most package say it needs 2k and up. It will be a hard time to find a DVD-RW that works under 98se. And Ponch, I thought about that, but I’m sure a 98se user knows how a program works... By the way, try other software too…
  13. Try: - another media. - the Drive in another system. - it with another OS Any luck with that?
  14. So, what are you going to hook to it?
  15. Welcome to MSFN! Now, let me give you the title "MSFN News Editor" .
  16. Is your screen dirty? Then click here to get your self a free screen washer .
  17. No, this one splits the x16 up in 2 times x8.
  18. Why would you pick this one? There are more passive cooled cards by the way, from ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte for example.
  19. Your problem could be your overactive antivirus program. If you have an antivirus program running then turn that off to see how Word starts.
  20. captainvideo, What you see is not the SATA controller, it’s the PATA controller. You won’t see the mode of your drives that are connected now, just the AHCI controller. You successfully enabled AHCI on your ICH9.
  21. Interesting that Call of Juarez performs that good with SLI, and ever more then 3 times the frame rate of a single card (17 for single and 55 for tipple). Nice that the cards are cooled on both sides except for the one on top, I wonder when they start to make new coolers with side intake since most cases have ventilation holes at the side of the case...
  22. I don’t know the age of your router, but if it’s within a year I would first upgrade to a newer LinkSYS firmware before VOIDING your warranty by installing a 3rd party firmware. EDIT: Tomato Version 1.17 came out yesterday .
  23. So he doesn’t scratch it when he putts his feet on them
  24. That would take real video editing software. So, you need to capture all the fragments and render them together again, making a complete new presentation. I’m sure the guys here know of a free video editing program, Adobe premiere can do it but isn’t for free and a bit pricy if you use it only one time although you could check the software out for a trail period. Download it here.…
  25. No no no... this is not true... Both you guys, just snap out of it...
