  1. It´s hard to compare those two motherboards. The ASUS has a complexer power regulator for the CPU then the ABIT does, that´s a big diference in price directly. The ASUS has also 2 USB and a firewire400 port as well, while the ABIT has an optical S/P-DIF in but no Coaxial S/P-DIF out. Both have solid capasitors, those will las way longer then the "normal" capasitors used on cheaper motherboards altrough I saw a MSI mobo for 75 bucks with it (for AM2). And, how could I forget, WIFI onboard for the ASUS.
  2. The fast way to check that is to reinstall Windows first... I wish I could help you faster but there is no other way...
  3. I would take the Corsair ones, they have the same timings but only need 2.1volt vs 2.2volt, Remember that it´s not the timing that could give a problem with a motherboard; It´s the chip-count and the voltage it needs to run. DDR2 Normaly works on 1.8-1.85volt...
  4. What do you think you are missing? All depends on the voltages, so timings need to be checked with the voltage of the module. Just tell us what you want to know .
  5. Or just put the slowest RAM in sloth 1, and set your CAS, RAS and CAS to RAS setting on 3 to test it like that...
  6. okay, so first download the new drivers of your motherboard and install them. EDIT: The drivers can be found here. The Chipset drivers is what you need...
  7. Also after updating the BIOS? And my standard question: Did you test them your self? RMA for Gigabyte is low here, like the other brands that we sell, one of my favorites now is Foxconn, but they have less OC f***tions. And please, don´t start to say things like: You just said that a lot of us are STUPID enough ...
  8. You say it´s slow, but compared to what? Was it faster before? I would start to reinstall the SATA/PATA controllers first. That drive, is it PATA? And does it use it´s own channel?
  9. The newest screens like the new line from NEC are based on PVA. Taken from wiki: PVA (patterned vertical alignment) and S-PVA (super patterned vertical alignment) are alternative versions of MVA technology offered by Samsung. Developed independently, it offers similar features to MVA, but boasts very high contrast ratios such as 3000:1. Value-oriented PVA panels also use dithering/FRC. S-PVA panels all use true 8-bit color electronics and do not use any color simulation methods. PVA and S-PVA can offer good black depth, wide viewing angles and S-PVA can offer additionally fast response times thanks to modern RTC technologies. I thought that the next step realy was O-LED, and indeed the older O-LED died too fast and were not suitable to use it as a monitor or TV. But they improved it and Sony is planning to release some TVs / monitors in Q4/2007-Q1/2008. Sony showed on CES 2007 11" to 27" screens and told in public that they are ready to start full production soon. Well, let´s see what comes out first .
  10. Backlight? Or the O-LED screens?
  11. Correct, just use your RAM that you already have...
  12. Or just hook any thing to your monitor that is analog with a KWORLD VS-TV1440RNB for example. Turned some old screens in nice TV´s here .
  13. Just get your self cheap RAM, and cheap is not bad at all. On more expensive RAM you only pay for the heatspreader and timings (5-5-5-18 vs 4-4-4-12 for example). I personaly like ADATA (VDATA), cheap and almost no RMA . EDIT: Looking on NCIX.com, but they don´t have any thing interesting . EDIT2: Just found OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-15 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit. Why this one? Good RAM, good timings and works on 1.9-2.0volt (1.8-1.85volt is standard). And it seems that you don´t pay so much for the heatspreaders, just don´t like the mail in rebate, and don´t know if it aplies to 2 sets of these...
  14. Missing the 4300; iNTEL doesn´t stop with them ...
  15. A USB to PS/2 will not work, so don´t spend your time and money on that. Just take the keyboard back and get your self an other one .
  16. Just replace the motherboard with one you can OC . Could be that you need to buy a new powersupply/case too... And your warranty will be gone, but who cares, most of the time the motherboard dies, not the rest... EDIT: By the way, played with clockgen? Find it here.
  17. The manual should say where you can find the IP adress. Most of the time it´s even printed on the camera it self. You can access the camera using that IP adress in a browser like Internet Explorer by typing in the IP adress directly in the adressbar.
  18. I don´t know what games you are going to play, but don´t you have a XP license as well? I would use both OSes if I were you... Other then that, great machine, that BENQ screen, saw it and loved it and could be one of my next screens as well .
  19. Don´t use it when everything works good. Normaly a harddisk for example marks bad sectors when the harddisk isn´t 100%, with this program you can undo those marks but it could give you problems if you write on that exact spot again, so lose of data would be the risk. I would never use this program if you ask me...
  20. Well, I know, but the whole time people were having discutions on the Quad cored ones, so I was pointing at that .
  21. Cool, and they are the 65nm versions .
  22. That depends on what resolution he want´s to play, the nVidia 8600GT works well on 1024*768 with DirectX10 and 1280*1024 with DirectX9. I personaly also would go with a DirectX 9 card like the ATi 1950GT and OC it.
  23. It seems that it´s not the controller or Windows that has the limit of 2TB, it´s the drives (interface protocol) that has 2TB limit still, like we saw back then with UW320. EDIT: Sofware RAID would be good for storage, but indeed less for performance...
  24. Everybody here seems to know if you have PCI-E (1x,4x16x) or AGP 8x, but I don´t, so my question is: What kind of chipset are you using and with what sloth? If it´s AGP I would take a look at the nVidia 6800XT 256MB. For PCI-E at any speed I would go with the nVidia 7900GS or a ATi x1950GT. If you want to use directX 10 then a 8600GT would be a good choice.
  25. No reviews or benchmarks that I know of. I only got them on my Mexican provider pricelist and sales tells me that they should be here in 2 weeks, so let´s see if that is true. It seems that the Samsungs are doing well, told you that also in an other threat. Selling them here and still no returns from RMA (not that I sold much of them). I saw the user reviews on Newegg and people love them, they are also so quiet. Hitachi has 5 platters for there 1TB drive, so they must get a bit warmer and be using some more juice and making more noise. Only had the 320GB (160GB per platter) versions my self but never had the ones with 200GB per platter...
