I found that the blue Zalman chipset coolers were not good enough for the nForce4 northbridge, it worked indeed well on the nforce2 , altrough the ZALMAN ZM - NBF 47 Aluminum ins´t so bad but just not enough IMHO. I would get something bigger with heatpipes like the ANTAZONE AS-N2000 Copper

As far as I know the price on DDR2 400/533/667/800 is almost the same, just the "non standard" 1066 is more expensive. Too avoid problems I would go with 533MHz again b/c you are not realy a technical guy I saw from your posts. How fast is that CPU and on what FSB is it running? If it´s a 800MHz FSB CPU I would let the RAM run on 400MHz (200MHz DDR) and when it´s running on 533 FSB like the Celeron then I would use 533 (266MHz DDR).

Okay, your motherboard has no option to set it in the BIOS. What you can try is to set the shared memory to auto; on most motherboards it could give you a better GPU performance. Other then that you are stuck when it comes to hardware...

Well, think about this: You wan´t the best of the best and it has a price. If you use windows XP/Vista it will use the Direct3D part for the desktop also, so it´s more that Microsoft is making the card work more, even when it looks idle. It would be cool if the test it under Linux for example, or just plain text on the screen. I´m sure it will be lower then 60 Watts.
-
They already do that, so I wonder what the big deal here is... After wondering I agree with you... Really? Then why does something like an 8800GTX consume roughly 150Watts doing absolutely nothing? Just idling there? Bruce, this is nothing personal but please, would you stop saying things that are not right, not even close.. I don´t call playing a game on a 8800GTX is doing nothing! This is when the 8800GTX uses 150 Watts! And full load 180 Watts! Idle about 60 Watts! So stop saying things that are not even close to the truth, 60 Watts isn´t 150 Watts (150% more)...

Exactly, but the only chipset with integraded GPU that can use the onboard VGA together with a extra AMD/ATi PCI-E card and controll for example 3 screens at the same time is the 690G/V chipset. Even the nVidia 7025/7050 doesn´t support it...
-
That´s what I said above, fastest way to do it is to set speakers to stereo and set the other jacks to inputs and you are done...

They already do that, so I wonder what the big deal here is... After wondering I agree with you... I would have liked to see that it was PCI-E/PCMCIA to an external solucion so labtops and computers that are "too full" could benefit from it. This "new feature" just seems marketing indeed... EDIT: They use the term SLI, something I would NOT call SLI, only if they work at the same time? I know the 690G/V chipset can use onboard and a add-on PCI-E x1250 to get SLI, never got a X1250 so I could not test it... (only I see x1050 and x1550 here, nothing in between...)

Can you give us the information of your motherboard please...

Look in your BIOS, change the "Aperture Size" to 128MB, but it could drop performance of your graphics.

ASUS comes with a motherboard with onboard RAM

IF you buy DDR3, you know that DDR3 isn´t worth it under 1333MHz, so even when you OC it to 1500MHz it still not interesting to me... but that´s just me . And for 200 bucks you can buy 4GB DDR2 RAM (standard 800MHz (5-5-5)) at 1.8volt. -

455 Buck? Wow, then I would skip this baby... Where did you get that price from? -

I just go with the flow with that, if 80% says it´s desktop, then I will keep desktop as teh right word . Check for example: http://www.nvidia.com/page/products.html -
Wait, am I missing something here? To not have those gray-out controlls you need to set the speakers on stereo, not on 7.1 for example, if you do so the INPUT controlls gray out. So, did you put your speakersetup on stereo?

What HDD Brand Do You Prefer?
puntoMX replied to Brando569's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
They did a good job to improve there trash (yeah trash, to much RMA). I agree 200% with you on what you said BUT: times change and so did the products from Samsung, now even there optical drives are good . -

Please guys, don´t call it a workstation while it´s a desktop computer . -

Ah, forgot to say it isn´t <ESC> it´s <CTRL-F>. That should give you access to the BIOS. -

puntoMX replied to mikesw's topic in Hardware Hangout
Hi, I see you know software but not hardware so you are on the right spot here. Why didn´t you try to hit <ESC> when it prompts, you need to build a RAID first to use it. But I se eyou only have one 500GB HDD? So, you need at least 2 to make that RAID as you know and as far as I remember the Promise card only works RAID, not as an extra HDD controller. Forget that LED, that´s only if you have some extra LEDs like in most server tower/racks . -
What HDD Brand Do You Prefer?
puntoMX replied to Brando569's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Okay, but they are not the newest ones with 166GB platters. Those ones are even more smooth then the older ones. Only problem I had with Samsung is that they burned out, yes it´s strange, those 160GB PATA versions from 2 years ago. When the drive shows burnmarks they void warranty here in Mexico, this is why I staid away from them for 2 years (law sux here by the way). -

Got ya, this is why I said "here" on the end of the line. And yes, that´s what I call I workstation, I machine to make money with . A "normal" desktop isn´t called a workstation, and for a desktop computer 2GB in my eyes indeed will be enough for the next 2 years... -
Just wanted to say that powerconsumption could be lower, but most 1333MHz DDR3 modules work on 1.8volts, so that will be the normal voltage of DDR2. With other words, it´s almost the same consumption...

Is that the GDDR3 or GDDR4 version?

Naa, workstations need 4GB or more (64bit XP) these days here ... -
Okay, something like ePCI-E. You drop in a PCI-E or PCMCIA card and connect an external GPU with it´s own PSU. This is what I saw over the last months on diferent news sites. If not, could you explain us a bit more technical how it works?
