  1. A long beep is an CPU error. Did you move your CPU or your cooler?
  2. Well, if you compare the 2600XT (DDR4) and the x1950pro, the x1950pro will be cheaper and you will get a higher framerate. The raw power of the x1950pro is about 20-30% higher then the 2600XT (DDR4). Check this link for example. The 2600XT is new so to get the design-cost back they have still higher prices then the older x1950pro. But the 2600XT has a good part that it uses less power then the x1950pro, but it can´t "win" from the nVidia 8600GT... clidx, Looks good the last link you posted, make sure your PSU can handle it. How much Amperes does it give max. on the 12Volt and 5Volt lines? Or what model/brand is it?
  3. Can you give us some moer information? A 10 pin connector? And to where you want to connect that TV-tuner?
  4. Did you know that game makers use both GPU brands? And even for CPU brands? Some games check your hardware so they know what splash screen they need to play. I don´t agree completely with you when you say that nVidia has a better performance price ratio; Some models from ATi do better for there price then nVidia and visa-versa. Don´t get me wrong, I´m more a fan of nVidia my self too, but there are some models of ATi that tickle me more . clidx, The linked card will outperform the nVidia 8600GT, that´s the ATi x1950Pro. And you make me laugh when I hear that an ATi Radeon 9500 (AGP by the way) is still 85 bucks at your local store .
  5. The card can be used in SLI mode, like 2 or 3 cards connected together. But sure it works stand-alone . Amazon isn´t the best place to buy computer stuff, so why not going to a local store?
  6. I would say in this order: 1 - SAMSUNG’s 226BW Or 226CW widescreen LCD monitor As you read ripken204´s post above, this can´t be a bad choise altough nmX.Memnoch pointed at a good thing (or let´s say bad thing) about the waranty. But that part can be covered by the shop you buy it in. Some shops take responsibility when there are to much pixels "broken", like more then 5. 2 - Acer AL2251W WIde-Screen LCD Display Shares the second place with Dell. Acer screens have almost no "broken" pixels, at least less then other brands. The price is right; they are cheap but give you good quality in every way. 2 - Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (THx for The Info On Dell 20" 2007WFP) Like nmX.Memnoch cleared, they have good waranty in The States. On the inside it should be the same screen as Samsung just with an other design and diferent factory settings. 3 - HP w2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat-Panel Monitor The new line of HP, nice design and has a pivot at the back of the screen so it can be rotated. 4 - Gateway FPD2275W 22" Widescreen High-Definition LCD Flat-Panel Display can´t say much about this one, I personaly don´t like products from gateway, like there laptops, so I hope some one else could judge about this screen... 5 - ViewSonic's 22" VX2245wm ViewDock™ LCD This screen could be nice only when you have an i-POD. The image quality isn´t as good as the other screens in this list. Let´s see what others have to say .
  7. And all works fine under heavy load? 1000MHz for RAM on a 3.5GHz CPU is nice, I saw a lot of people that can hit the 4.0GHz with that CPU. What motherbaord are you using?
  8. The question is: "Which Memory Brand is the Best?"... That depends on how much you want to spend... For example: There are cheap sticks from Kingston and A-DATA (V-DATA) that are priced under 50 US$ for an 1GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM stick that works on every motherboard (1.8-1.85Volts that it needs to work)... So you could spend twice as much on RAM with tight timings and some nice looking coolers but ask you self if you need it... EDIT: I use A-DATA by the way and RMAs (returns) are very low...
  9. The ATi x1950GT cards seems to have one of the best price/performance ratio you can find now. Check also the VGA Charts 2007 on Tom´s Hardware. Just compare the prices in your local stores and the power you will get from the cards with that chart. Why a local store? To return the card when it does not work on your mobo with PCI-E 4x... Most do work by the way .
  10. Hard to say... But: - Always disconnect the computer and push the powerbutton (startbutton) to unload the capasitors on your mobo and PSU. - Reset your BIOS so all will be in "normal" ranges for RAM settings. Try that RAM in an other PC if you can, it could be that you damaged the RAM when you pulled it out without unloading the capasitors. How does the *beep* sound?
  11. Well, there was no need to buy 1066MHz 2.1-2.2Volt DDR2, you could have had enough with 800MHz 1.8-1.85Volt DDR2 RAM. When you lower the speed you could: - lower the voltage - lower the timings But gains are not big, we could talk about a 2% difrence of overal processing power here (not optimal compared with optimal settings). When overclocking it could help that your RAM hits the 1066MHz, so are you going to OC that baby?
  12. And what happens if you do <SHIFT>+<DEL>? You get the same problem?
  13. Doesn´t work... I wonder how you can set your SATA drives on PATA , think about it. What chipset do you have any way that you need to push F6 any way? VIA?
  14. From year 2005 to 2007 . For the lazy people I would say nCleaner. Take a look at it if you like .
  15. Sounds like heat is building up. Are all fan´s running well? When you touch the CPU cooler is it hot/warm?
  16. Well, I´m sure they will continue with the products, just under the Cisco name. I hope prices don´t rise now...
  17. So, if posible you could indeed set the BIOS to 1.050-1.100volt, that´s the CPU´s "normal" voltage...
  18. It should work, only the CPU will get a bit more voltage and would be seen as unknown CPU. 80% That it will work with most motherboards. I think some one could confirm this...
  19. I agree with you there, only didn´t like there motherboards made for the Dell OptiPlex GX270; Blown southbridges and bad capasitors, 9 aside the CPU and 4 for the memory banks. For Video cards I sell 70% Foxconn, there nVidia 8x00 series have the best performance/price ratio I can get in Mexico...
  20. Almost wanted to bet .
  21. If you don´t buy it, tell him I will buy it .
  22. 8600GT that is I hope , or a 8600GTS (Would come close to the 7900GTS) But that would not be as fast as your old 7900GTS, so I would take the cash and buy a 8800GTS for example...
  23. I give them to schools, PIIs still could be interesting if you have RAM for it...
  24. What I do is hit the drive by hand when it´s powered on, that could help some times to spin up when it´s stuck. If that doesn´t help then you lost your drive and your non-backuped data with it. There are place where they can fix it for you, but they are way too expensive and you will loose the drive.
