  1. If you don´t know about hardware, and you are new to it, then take it to a place where they "fix" it. Simple as that ...
  2. You could ask that with some more words ... So, you are referring to when you switch your computer on at the back it start without pushing the button in front? Most motherboards have a setting in the BIOS of "last operational state" or "auto turn on" so check your BIOS for that.
  3. Just some interesting info on overclocking. But still we don´t know what programs are going to run on the "new" CPU, and if it´s going to be an OCed rig...
  4. bonestonne, you say it a bit odd. Electrical equipment doesn't draw voltage, it draws amperes. So, if you connect something of 7 volts it will work on 7 volts (there are exceptions, like capacitive and inductive circuits, but I´ll prevent you from headaches ).
  5. Other thought: When you replace that hose for a smooth walled one, it should work better .
  6. Yeah, CPUs have a RMA rating like 0.3%, it was higher before when we still sold the AMD Duron/Athlon(XP) with those breakable cores. RAM we test directly with MemTEST, and we check if they are compatible with the motherboards (DDR2). We use A-DATA (V-DATA) most and RMA rating is around 0.3% too, just 1 in 330. Any way, can´t say that ASUS has more RMAs in the first year then others, in general I found that ASUS has a higher MTBF, Pc-Chips is the worst, but well, what do you expect for the price (They were good in 96-99 by the way).
  7. Too continue on Polarman´s post: The 4800+ X2 is already 65nm, it would be my choice if I bought a CPU right now for about 130-150 US$. That CPU clocks easely to 3.2GHz and has 2 caches vs one for the core2duo, but the core2duo has a bigger cache like ripken already said... The AMD runs less hot but the iNTEL can use with the right mobo DDR3 (pricy still). Any way, the question is: Do you, cumminbk, OC your new CPU or not? And do you want a 5200+/2.6GHz i.s.o. 4800+/2.5GHz (for a lower price). Forgot to ask: What software do you run on it?
  8. Yeah, don´t use de airco on cooling mode, just ventilation mode and it will be fine. Also I would put the intake down in the case and blow cold air in, not suck it away from the back. Other then that, it´s a start . EDIT: By the way, forget that hotglue, use silicon kit for that (the one you use to make windows water proof for example)...
  9. Those RMA ratings are way to high, do you test them your self when they come back?
  10. Happy Birthday Jeremy, love ya bro, kisses... Wanted to give you something but you know I´m broke. Talked with the nice lady behind the desk if she could sell me something and I would pay her with my body, she is still thinking about it .
  11. It has ASUS Q-Fan2 so it should slow down if connected on the right connector indeed. "ASUS Q-Fan2 technology intelligently adjusts both CPU fan and chassis fan speeds according to system loading to ensure quiet, cool and efficient operation."
  12. Lets say 2% will go RMA max. wich is normal... You sold last couple years like 1800 mobos, 600 VGA cards from ASUS and 450 mobos, 300 VGA cards from MSI Is this correct?? Listen, I have like 1.2% RMA here with ASUS and about the same with MSI (don´t sell it here any more, but did it before). No one should complain if RMAs are less then 5% or so, that´s what I think...
  13. Like Ripken said: First the fan runs on max. speed, then slows down. It´s common, nothing special .
  14. lol I know it´s not based on good benchmarking, poor drivers and a beta-card, but it´s a start. Any way, soon there will be more benchmarks out there, but don´t expect miracles .
  15. No, but after you picked up your suites...
  16. Just a link, some info here, more to come this or the next week .
  17. I moved 6 computers with me from Holland to Mexico. I needed to buy aluminum computercases else 2 computers, the wooden box and some other stuff were above the 32kg that was the max for transportacion with extra cost. Are you handy? If so then build your own box to transport that computer, use foam on the inside and make sure there is no play between computerparts and the box. on the outside you can put metal corners and finish them like car-subwoofer housings. Don´t forget to bold on some wheels and handles, some airports can give you along walk . USE STOCK COOLERS! Well, no heavy weaght ones, those ones will snap of or break your motherboard in part. If posible use coolers taht are screwed on the mobo.
  18. They are released indeed soon, expect them in 2 weeks. There are MSI benchmarks out, 3Dmark 2006 @ 6k points and 3Dmark 2005 @ 10k points, on an midrange CPU powered system. Looks like I would go for a x1950 or a 8600GT (Last one is coming in for my system in 1 week or so).
  19. Okay, I know you want an ATI, but I would take a look at the nVidia 8600GT too: Best card for it´s price. If I would go with ATi I would look at the 1950GT/pro, it´s about the same price as the 8600GT but the 8600GT performs a bit better. If you can wait some time then the 2600xx cards would be nice too, but they are still not in the shops...
  20. Just bad luck it seems, could you not get a other VGA card? Sometimes the distributor can exchange a refund the card so you could get a other/better one, just ask your computer shop owner. lately I like the products from Foxconn, they are not expensive and work well, just less tweakfeatures...
  21. I hope it takes more then 6-8 hours to get to the end this time . We waited long enough to get some thing "special" .
  22. Or connect them on 7 volts, just a minute of work .
  23. Time to replace that screen I would say. It´s a common problem with TVs and monitors, some times there are not only lines but also you could be missing a part of your visible-screen. In general it can be fixed by replacing the biggest IC, worth like 30 US$, in that screen but I would look for a replacement...
  24. First I want to say; Best computershop you can get when you have to wait 1.5 months for replacements, next time go to another place where they replace it directly, looks more like that computershop doesn´t like to fix your things; "we replaced so many ASUS products..."... right... Second; Last year I only had 1 ASUS mobo of 150 that was defective (overheating 6150LE/430 chipset) So, I think ASUS still isn´t that bad . I hope other people will tell you the same...
  25. I would go with ACER, more then half of it is Tohsiba. ACER has just a better price/performance.
