If you are like me, you get very annoyed by the 30 sec. time delay before starting windows. Now, I know that you can pick the O/S you want by just pushing enter but a lot of times, I turn on the computer and walk away while it boots....the time to load O/S checkbox is under the Startup and Recovery console too. Yep! If you are in college or know somebody that is and is willing to buy for you, you can get XP Pro Upgrade for about $99. Check the college bookstores. Rick

Morpheus locks on me every time I use it. Talked to Xperties and the same thing happens to him. Are you using this without probs under XP? I was able to use it for awhile and it did have a bunch of good stuff on there. Much better than Bearshare but it won't work on my XP!!! Rick:grump

If you have made positively sure that you got the right bios flash update for the right motherboard and if you follow the directions exactly as they are given, you won't hurt your computer. I have done many bios flashes with many motherboards and I have never destroyed one. Just make sure you look at your motherboard book or at your computer manufacturers site to know for sure what model number your mobo is. Rick

I tried to get cometcursor off my computer after my wife d/l'ed the stupid spyware because she thought the little cursors were cute! Argghhh! I had to explain to her how they put crap like that up so that they can get all in your computer. Anyway, I tried to uninstall it using the XP uninstaller and it said I didn't have access to some files. Then I tried using Norton CleanSweep and the same thing again for a couple of dll's. What does it mean I don't have access? It's my darn computer? Anybody know how to resolve this? Rick:WTF?:

Oh no! You didn't read our post about not going to the update site? Yes, I am afraid that M$ got your IP so if I were you, I'd move. Really, there just aren't any updates there right now...expect some in the next week or so...I have only gotten a couple and one was for M$ Virtual Machine. Others have gotten newly released drivers. It may be true that M$ is going to filter out pirated copies but as of yet, I don't think they are doing it except that you will not be able to get updates for the Beta versions. Rick

Yes, it is there but seems to be a bit more hidden in XP like they were afraid that everybody's a bunch of idiots or something. Anyway, you just go to Tools, options, mail setup and then right next to the Send/Receive Button, there is an option to have it send on startup.

The M$betang used to be the best site but then the site manager got real busy with school and also thought that it was pointless to keep doing the page since everybody had gotten their copies of XP (I disagreed but maybe he will reconsider doing an update on it when he gets a fall break or something):erm: Rick:D

Yep, I just bought the K7S5A and it has been rockin for me too. The system runs much cooler because there is not a north and south bridge....only one chip and read tomshardwareguide.com under the Mainboard section. There is an article about this board there with complete benchmark results. Another board to consider that totally rocks all others is the new and improved KT266A chipset. Don't confuse this with the KT266 that came out in April. They have improved the new version drastically...just take a look at Tom's review on that board. Both of the above boards are AthlonXP ready. The KT266A is about double the price of K7S5A though. Rick

Thanx Lou...I know what you mean...Wininfo 2.4 is what most people use to check out their version of XP. The trick is to find that small but accurate little prog. As far as before installing, Lou is right, you have to check out the files such as dates and what Lou posted above. Rick

If you go to Roxio's main site, you will see info about the release of XP but it looks like they aren't making the driver updates available till Oct. 25th. Rick:eek:

Have you seen the post that Nvidia has released XP compatible drivers? May not apply in your case but I'm just making sure you have checked their site within the last day. Rick

I honestly don't think that anybody has been blocked from getting updates...there has been nothing to update. Be assured that within the next couple of weeks, there will be a lot of hardware updates on there as the companies get their butts in gear and release XP compatible versions. Keep in mind that not many people are supposed to have XP Final yet, so they aren't getting slammed with bug reports, etc. Rick Rick

I lost the ability to load XP when I changed HD's but all the info is still on the partition including all progs that were loaded on that HD. Can someone tell me how to import my mail messages and contacts from another version of Outlook that I can not open? (I mean, how do I access the right folder to get my info? If you need more clarification...just ask! Rick:eek:

Drew, I sent your IP to M$ so yep they are on to you! JK I had probs. with connecting for when I used Devilsown...it would work on and off and now works all the time with Corporate version. Rick:cool:
