Chris...did I miss a post where this has been discussed? Where did you find out that they are filtering out cracked copies? Winupdate has never worked for me except one time a couple of weeks ago when a demo install was put on and taken off. Probably was a bug that M$ put on me to find out which copy I am using...who knows? Rick:hohum

Agreed man...how do you know what you are getting??? I really miss Napster! Those were the days! I have tried using Bearshare with mixed results, usually very difficult to get a good connection as was the case with edonkey. Dude! You are too confusing! Just install from ISObuster...it's not the end of the world if you don't have a burner. It is a risk to take but just make sure you back up your stuff! I have installed like this many times and I have had relatively few probs. Chris...you are bad!

I take back what I said earlier about you being able to d/l from the updates site forever with what you have. I was just reading in another thread where there is a discussion about this and the gist is that M$ will probably defeat the crack we have soon and the same will happen with the retail version. The battle will be between hackers and M$ to keep the version undetected by Update. My answer is to quit getting change every time you buy something. Take that change and drop it in a jar in your house, roll the coins and in about a month or so, you will have enough to go out and buy a copy that is your very own. Rick

Yeah, that is an okay app that is pretty easy to use but I still think that TweakXP is better because it does all of what Customizer does plus it has a memory manager, cache manager, etc. Rick

Thanx again Aaron...I tried the first and it would say that there is no NTFS qualifying partition on hard drive and then it gives a command prompt but with no drive letter next to it and when I try fdisk...doesn't work...but the second option...I will give that a try. Rick:cool:

My boss came up to me and asked me to reformat one of our HD's and reload that computer with Win98. I told him no problem until I realized that you can't just boot into dos with a Win98 boot disk. It won't see the NTFS. How do I get Win2K off my hard drive without putting on another OS in another partition? Rick:rolleyes:

I have two OS's on my computer...WinXP and Win2K. As always, there is that boot screen that comes up when you start up the computer where you choose which OS you want to run. Can anybody tell me how to edit this screen? I want to take off some of the junk that is sitting there like an option for an old Win2K setup and then there are two others there from where I tried to fool around with this screen. I just want the two OS's I have on my HD!!! Rick:rolleyes:

I have no clue about how to set something like that up although I am sure that anybody can do it. You need to go to one of the irc channels and ask some of the mods there if nobody here is able to give you a definite answer. Rick

Go to h*tp:w*w.polaris2001.com That's what most are using and you should learn how to set up there. Really, you want to set up a channel within infatech or dalnet...those are the servers. Rick

Thanx man...wish I had updated this earlier...I found that there is this novel thing called reading the instructions for installation. If I had read them, I would have known that the video card and the sound card must be hooked together. I got it hooked up and it works fine now. Thanks Intense. rick

I have an ATI AIW Radeon 32MB video card in my system and when I try to watch TV on my computer, ATI's media screen pulls up fine but there is no sound. I tried the sound setup using every available option it gave and I changed my speakers to each port in the sound card. Nothing! I am using an onboard sound card called SiS 635 Codec. Speakers work fine for all other sounds on my computer. Anybody have this card with this sort of problem? Rick

Okay, so do I have Ghost create a boot disk and then go to dos and use it? Like I said before, I tried to make the boot disk and load to dos but I get errors every time I try to load with the boot disk. Rick

Tried Norton Ghost that came with Systemworkds....I don't see an option to back up to another drive and when I try to boot up from floppy, I get a general protection fault error. Rick

There are ways but this is not the place to ask that question. The way you get it is you go to amazon.com or your local computer store and you pay Microsoft the price that Office costs. We don't support Piracy here! rick

I want to image my everything that is on my hard drive now and copy it to a new one I just bought. I downloaded drivecopy last night but couldn't get it to work right. Is there a good software program that will do this? Telling me that I can do it through DOS is not the answer because that is just not my area of expertise. Help me make it easy! Rick:D
