namreeb, iamtheky reports in a number of posts (do a search) here that a 'net stop msiserver' needs to be place after installing .NET 1.1 to free up the installer. Good luck, John.
-
iamtheky, thanks, no sarcasm meant on my part. I found the value of %path% using the SET command with no parameters in a command prompt. Also, thanks for the link. Enjoy, John.

A possible problem, discovered by mgancarz in this topic, post #8, with the tweak Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process, causes strange symptoms. I have duplicated this on my XP x64 machine and attach the Last Session. I have specified only the one tweak. Any comments? John.

pokeseeker, in your Hot Fix section, you have placed the update pack before the installer for WMP11. If there are updates to WMP11 in the pack, then this will be a problem. You have specified Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process in your tweaks. There appears to be a bug that causes strange symptoms using this tweak. Please remove it. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.

zipzap, have you checked on the the VirtualBox forum? Some VMs do not support sound. When I first started with VMware Server, it did not support sound for my OS (XP x64). Have you gone to Sounds and Audio Devices (Under Control Panel) and seen what there? Please post screen shots of that and the Device Manager screens with the yellow. Enjoy, John. EDIT: You should not need a new copy of nLite until there is an update. You also don't need to delete the nLite presets. They are kept to allow you to reuse the same options you used before. You really only need to start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders. All the adapters you specified in the Networking tab of Unattended, I think will have no effect since you did not specify a MAC address for any of them. Please see the help text on that page (? in circle). John.

iamtheky, where is %REGKEY% defined and what is its value? Thanks, John.

admsupport, I have no better way to contact nuhi than you do. You can send him a PM (Personal Message). I tried DLing from the four sites I gave you and all worked but mirror 03. I also tried the two given by g-force and they both worked, but the second is vLite, for Vista. If you still can't get nLite, send me a PM with your e-mail address. Please don't post your e-mail address in the forum. Good luck, John. EDIT: Google shows many sites with nLite. Here's one. John.
-
admsupport, have you tried here? There is a main site and 3 mirrors. Have you tried all four? Enjoy, John.

namreeb, I am curious about a couple of things. The name on the .NET 3.5 is dotnetfx35.exe on the MS DL Center. You have dotnet35.exe. Is this correct? Do you really need 1.1 when you have 3.5 installed? Have fun, John.

Xeijin, here is a good time line of installation. I do not know if the MS Installer is run at t-13, but I use the Unattended RunOnce exit to run a batch file that does lots of things including running MSI to install several programs. It works fine. Hope this helps, John.

chaimlg, I have not needed to play with the languages, so I am feeling around here. Have you tried the Regional tab of the Unattended section? Hebrew is available there. Please give it a try and let us hear. If you are not using a virtual system, please consider VirtualPC, VirtualBox or VMware Server - all free. Later, John.

spacevoid8, are you sure you are running a MP? What kind of processor do you have? Have you tried Computer Type of Automatic? You need to run some experiments to see where the problem is. Since you are running VP, it should be rather painless. Good luck, John.

AGlobalThreatsK, here is a Registry tweak I found via Google for hide the Log Off button. I tried it on my XP x64 and it does not work, so you should test before you do your install. Now, you have a couple of choices. Have fun, John. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoLogOff"=dword:0000001 EDIT: Here is the code that works for XP x64: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "StartMenuLogOff"=dword:0000001

Xeijin, I certainly accept that your use is personal. How are you executing the Office installer - from RUN1_XP-64.BAT? I would suggest installing the lastest MSI installer (WindowsServer2003-KB942288-v4-x64.exe), although I don't think that will correct your problem. I think I would be careful about removing OOBE. Other than those two items, I am afraid I have little to offer except to start putting stuff back in and test the results. I was hoping someone who knew about Office install would help. I hope you are using a virtual system such as VirtualBox or VMware Server - both free. Please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.

Zayne, this tells us that your themes are getting to your installed Windows. As I understand it, when you right click your desktop and click Appearances that your themes are not there - true? Go into the Themes folder on your installed system and find one of your themes, that does not show up, and double click the .msstyles file. See if your theme will become active after you click Apply on the window that pops up. Next is to run the experiment I suggested. Best, John.

AGlobalThreatsK, if you make any changes using nLite, I recommend you start with a fresh source. If you are going to add .reg files to an already existing RunOnce exit, then just do that and build an ISO in the last step only of nLite. There are some things nLite can do to a source that has already had nLite run on it, but no one seems to know exactly what you can and cannot do. Good luck, John.
-
aviv88, sure, you can install the drivers after install. Do you still have the yellow device after installing drivers and restarting? Enjoy, John.
-
Zayne, please look in your C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes folder on your installed system and post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of it. Also, please post you latest Last Session.ini. I suggest you begin some experiments to narrow the problem down. First, perhaps, remove all your hot fixes and addons, build an ISO and install (I hope you are using a virtual system - perfect for this). Let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John.
-
aviv88, did you include a driver for the yellow device? The text mode driver only covered the install phase. For running Windows, you need the driver that probably comes with your main board. The Last Session you posted did not contain any run mode drivers. Please attach a new one if different. Enjoy, John.

Zayne, I just discovered by reading the help (? in circle) on the nLite Hot Fix page, that nLite will oder your hot fixes for you. That addon is designed to be integrated and will not work in the RunOnce exit but you could run the installer from the RunOnce exit. DL the installer from MS DL center and use the /Passive /NoRestart switches to keep it from asking you questions and restarting your computer. I really have no idea if removing this addon will fix your problems but I have my doubts. Where do you stand now? Are themes still missing? If so attach one (if not too large) so we can take a look. Enjoy, John.
-
Aylen, USSF (Universal Silent Switch Finder) will find some of them for you. Try this link. Enjoy, John.
-
chaimlg, I think that should work, but please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini so we can take a look. Enjoy, John.
-
jaclaz, I will, indeed, take it easy. I concluded that all problems were not resolved and was surprised no one had suggested the rules, thus my response. When violated, they often lead to the kind of symptom observed here. Enjoy, John.

Creating workgroup name and inability of custom resolution sticking
johnhc replied to videobruce's topic in nLite
videobruce,I suggest you look into VirtualBox, VirtualPC and VMware Server - all free. Also, try Fully Automated mode in Unattended-General tab. You can try to convince nuhi to make monitor resolution work with the default drivers. I am just pointing out what the text says. When you say network name, I assume you mean work group name. Please try with Fully Automated set and preferably in a virtual system and let us know what you learn. Remember to start with a fresh source and only one SP. Enjoy, John. EDIT: Please post the Last Session you run with after your experiment. John. -
Have you two followed my standard rules? Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
