it's likely the path it's looking for is d:\i386 look for that in the registry, copy i386 from the disc to say C:\i386 and change the registry to reflect that, also, disable antivirus etc when copying (or when scanning) will be a lot faster

the iso will work perfectly on a dvd, no extra config needed i always use dvd's for the real install because they're faster than cd's

a torrent will show up either today or tomorrow (suprised there's not one already) they always do, the vista sp1 torrents were super fast at being put up

welcome to the forums what Vlite does is shrinks your Vista DVD, not your current install you have to burn the iso in the last screen of Vlite and install Vista using that disc, it doesn't do anything to the current install

just suck it and see only you can find the perfect install, no-one else will do it for you

less of the attitude pal, you never said that in your original post(s) attach your lastsession.ini so we can have a look to see what you've removed. the fact you say 'several machines' suggests it may not be only for personal use.......

it can't work directly with ISO files, you have to unpack them with winrar, or mount them using daemon tools, and copy the files to say C:\VistaDVD\ , then point vlite at that the best way to learn is to just 'do it' yourself mate also, testing in a virtual machine saves you formatting your pc, use virtualbox, its free and fast. just remember tick what you want to remove not what you want to keep , just read the descriptions for each one and decide for yourself -for now, i wouldn't bother messing around with custom install screens etc, it's a waste of time

this is why you shouldn't use an RC/beta service pack on a live machine format and install vista sp1, probably not worth the time/hassle trying to fix it mate

have you removed it from your installation using nlite? if you haven't, then set the 'Windows Firewall & ICS" service to automatic, then start it, and go to control panel and open Firewall, should work fine

autologin is stored in a registry entry best way for you is to NOT use nlite for autologon but keep winnt.sif on a floppy (and remove it from the i386 folder), and a reg file for autologon (it's easy to find it in google) "xp autologin reg" or something should find it, then edit the winnt.sif and reg files when you need to (and manually apply the reg file after first login)

it's just the way ms do it doesn't take long to install it tbh install xp64, make an xp64sp2 disc from there, keep it safe, then make a copy of the disc to cut things out with nlite

if you've got the driver extracted nlite will ask you which type it is, best way is to try it and see if the new disc see's your hard drive during install, it's worked

current one is SP2, it came out roughly a year ago (maybe two) Windows 2003 and 64bit have the same service pack (more or less), so they get released at the same time SP2 for 32bit xp is very old, and SP3 is out soon for that
