What Firewall do you use in Win9x?
thydreamwalker replied to gkar's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
ZALARM 37 and WiseRegistryCleaner ,YahooCA SpyRemover with 98SE using 98ME's Defrag & Scandisk with a hand fulla bandaids and prayers; my 6 98SE/MoBo's survive an insane unsecure internet enviroment (p.s.:any browser than IE6sp1,if at all feasible!!!PreferOpera9.52or9.62) -
Add the Older FlashPlayer9.0.115/9.0.124 for IE ,Opera and Firefox Plugins first!!! (before installing FlashPlayer 9.0.151) *as these will help keep 9.0.151 more stable and the foundation is being build on for some unknown reasons??? In this way Flash works better in all Internet Browsers i think its an Adobe error again oh well

thydreamwalker replied to soporific's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
If,it's usb it may be draning power from MoBo and other resources as my usb optical mouse did;had to revert it to a usb-ps/2 adapter connector so it would work at all times New WUPG98en helps with usb troubles too! (Why not try Uberskin8.3.6 and xpraider with Kex0.3.6 insteada RP7.11???) -
Auto-Patcher 98-FinalDec'07 use tweaks module then WUPG98en and install Kex 0.3.6 and add uberskin 8.3.6 and Opera 9.6 or newest version, any new MDCU updates; Clean Registry and start-up program clutter and surf away;Use Firewall to watch your Laptop!!!

FlashPlayer9.0.151 removes Active X portion of Flash9.0.115 for needed files with 98SE ;not good and it doesn't install as it removes necessary FP files altogether!!!***Who's tested this ??? i've tried on 2 98SE MoBo's but will not use 9.0.151 until Adobe fixes it ; will continue with FP9.0.115 it's secure!!! ***Note:Re-download of FP9.0.151 with Opera corrects Problems of this nature

thydreamwalker replied to bikerbrom's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Linksys-NetworkEverywhere is great on 98SE,and most depends on your ISP Provider for reliability.... Verizon has a new system card for wireless as does AT&T,as they work on Laptops well enough,a hot spots all you need to connect -
No "Horror Stories";yet, just tryin' to set-up 98SE the firsttime 18 month's ago was "Dread-ful;Now am cosulting on 98SE,XP,Win95,Win3.1,some Dos and (Vista) only for users with no 'technical knowledge'or patience to set thier own systems if it "Crashes"!Windows98SE requires Patience,Persistence,Perserverence and sometimes alotta "Prayers".When setup 'Right' 98SE bets the #@$&* outta any New O.S. yet to be invented! thydreamwalker replied to soporific's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Ram isn't thee problem ;sometimes newer machines with newer PCI cards causes problems with98SE programs being installed as My "Best MoBo'=64mb-2x32mb(Old Style)Dimm Ram/72pinn on a 1999 Via Apollo Shuttle Board @ 233mmx,233mhz/66mhzbus ;It Runs better than my other 5 MoBo's @ 128,160,192,256,or512(all SDRam Machines). All have 98SE with the various Ram chips.*Try looking into a System Information Program and see what your MoBo can "Really Do" and Tweak it properly for Efficient Memory and Cpu usage! -
I've tried every conceavable and unbios-ed and bios-ed way to use SESP3.0B3;B U T it does not work on 9 different 98Se Fully updated MoBo's with 9 different cpu's,memram, powersupply and type of Motherboard ...especially IF i add new mdiecu23e and mdcu305 and a backdoor shows up in CAYahoo spysweeper and removes it then MoBo and 98SE goes totally ""WHACK-O""and no start up or nuthin' runs right???***But with-out using SESP3.0B3 and "Prefer to use SESP2.1a Anyways!=All system installs are totally functional with Kex 0.3.2a-0.3.5e help or not.(hmmmmmm?...no files to show as MoBo's will not function in dos nor windows?-Until Erase Disk then Full install without SESP3.0.b..3) thanks

Wise Registry Cleaner 3 Free ;ver3.6.2.0(Freeware); http://www.WiseCleaner.com Run Auto-patcher;then,Use WiseRegistryCleaner to clean registry,(delete any files not fixed!) and next go to Programs>Accessories>SystemTools>SystemInformation>Tools>RegistryChecker=SaveRegistry and Re-boot!***Run Scandisk and Defrag after re-boot."*We must Run some kinda RegCleaner with 98SE cause it'll s l o w d o w n Our PC if ya don't! -
VistaPack2.5 LooksGreat on W2KAdvSrv.......,but maybe make TrueTransparency an "option-with an uninstaller?"for users thanks :<There's a NT Tweak,NT RegAnalyzer Program for W2K and it seems to help when its used with problem area's in Win2000;*Though,it's a USB-FlashDrive Program from U3 LaunchPad for Sandisk Products http://u3.sandisk.com/
