  1. RootsCertUpdate(nov2008) not installing(1st Attempt),have to use TryAgain Routine after AP98 reboots.(Unless already installed?by MDIE6CU25e ???); ***Check for changes in Kernel Ex:as System File Checker says its missing after APDec'08 finishes all installs ? Just Point SystemFileRestore to Kex0.3.6 files and all is Great again All's Okay other than those minor squeeks
  2. Open IE6SP1 when installing choose "custom"install;choose files "You"wished to install(if added, anyways) :remove in add/remove programs in controlpanel
  3. MDIE6CU25e should have IE6sp1 updates in a safer package?
  4. @pixturesk-Rad7000 has a great driver at Ati.com <6-2wme_dd_cp_30314> ,just for 98SE O.S.'s (i Too have a PIII-500/256mbRam) *Note:Used Add/RemoveProgramReplacementTool when i got 900+mb total for Java1.5.016JDK Update after installed;this may vary depending on the MoBo it's installed on???
  5. JRE 1.5.0.15(java update is about 369mb on hdd) or JDK 1.5.0.16(java most recent update is about 950mb on hdd......)
  6. Tihiy's Rev2000 worked on my Win2000/AdvSrv Edition as long as i did not use any "un-official" updaters; When any vistapack or usp5 was installed on W2K with Rev2000 all would go A.W.O.L.....Yet Autopatcher2000(APUP)always has worked great Now jus keepin' it simple
  7. Has anyone noticed Java version 1.5.0.16.....becoming bloated to 600+mb's and 360+mb's respectively(@ 1gb total for jdk1.5.0.16 files) is this extreme??? or normal???
  8. The reasoning of not downloading files to XP/Vista Harddrive is the programs accept OperatingSystems Functions *Example: an IE6 update which was downloaded to XP(which uses IE7)eventually corrupts the 98SE system which accepts only IE6 as a browser and not IE7.Usually this shows up as the famous IE Message which says iexplore has encountered a problem and needs to restart!<Just learn as you try >
  9. How old is this?Is Telnet updated in 98SE or NT?,;they didn't have e-mail on NT?...did they? Check <http://www.oldapps.com>
  10. Firefox,Maxathon install Separate IN"Safe-mode" browers in addition to full browser on your O.S. Opera is not installed to "Safe-Mode" as Yet?
  11. SESP2.1a en.exe,WUPG98 en,Auto-Patcher(Dec07Final).MDCU3.0.5,MDIE6CU2.5 these should get things right "Download to Fat32 hdd-not XP/Vista",then install safely
  12. Briefcase is great for more encrypted or zip files (especially open/pictures files)to transfer to other drives and/or o.s.'s.......i turned a usb flashdrive into a large 1gb-briefcase file and it downloads and transfers "safer and faster" than any of my other MoBo's or devices? Great file to scan Internet Downloads (for "bugs",etc,etc...)
  13. Firefox2,Maxathon provide the necessary "SAFE-MODE" browser to use to get help on a network when startup problems arise !!!<IE6-"Shoulda done this"SAFE-MODE"capability, years ago ">
  14. Need Driver for "Sandisk Cruzer Micro Skin(Silver/ in color) 4.0gb-flashdrive"-as will not open on 98SE,Win2000,XP???...it lists as Vista compatible? on ultra fast MoBo's.Any help as Sandisk "drivers"not workin' in 98SE!!! Unknown driver shown in 98SE and useful on Win2000/XP only to copy files ,yet drive does not "Fully open!"as it should? Still in need of proper 98SE driver though returned product and exchanged for 8gb/Sandisk Micro(Black/in color) Cruzer (*Easier user interface in all OperatingSystems )
  15. Optional Adobe Flash 9.0.151 works on 98SE (even on a 64mb/Ram PentiumI/166mhz)
  16. me thinks these "older-outdated'98/98SE programs and functions" are very useful on any MoBo as old or older than 2005;jus' as mine all are and can still run all over any newer "XP/Vista 10000xxxgb/10000xxxmhz MoBo" <"Jokingly truthful though!" > Newer MoBo's have newer built-in revisions in the drivers ,which older versions did not have, and these older programs help jumpstart an older MoBo when "problems" arise. 98SE needs updating -keep in mind there are important functions in these "old files" interweaved into other 98/98SE functions as thee shall see when removed and replaced and updated ***Update Moviemaker from 98ME would help a lot ! And don't install unnecessary programs, if you do not intend to use them from 98SE CDROM?
  17. MDCU3.0.5 adds WIA1.1 with all it's updates and gives a choice to install it or not
  18. TweakUI1.33 has an Auto-Login feature so when computer re-boots all you do is sit back and watch as Auto-Patcher install Automatically for about 30-60minutes depending on cpu/ram speeds,*Read modules in Auto-Patcher files it helps explain all thats needed to know "Be careful!"especially, when using xp/vista HDD's when downloading 98SE updates to a harddrive",as files get corrupted by these systems when accidently opened on them or moved ;unless in zip files or folders.......A Flashdrive is "safer", as i use 2-Sandisk Cruzer Flashdrives to load all updates to newly installed 98SE"OEM/CDROM" HDD(But flash is usually FAT32 Formatted also )As long as proper drivers get loaded you can unload/download directly to 98SE HDD/Partition?hopefully Use Opera 9.52 it even likes 98SE Systems
  19. Win98SE,SESp2.1a en,WUPG98en(2008version)***Set TweakUI-1.33 to auto-logon and reset after done installing all updates it'll save you the headaches of logging in @ 30+times;Run Auto-PatcherOct'07 ,then Auto-PatcherDec'07Final add MDIE6CU 2.4 and MDCU3.0.5 addKex0.3.6 and Uberskin8.3.8 CleanRegistry "if and when necessary...Please if need help look at MDGX's update forum "Good-Luck"
  20. "An Older Application" XOSLBootManager works with most HDD's and has Safe PowerSoft start-ups on all 6 of my partitions with 98SE,linux,w2k,win95 and 2-saved for programs (on different HHD's with fat,fat32,ntfs etc....)
  21. Dear Santa's(thee 98SE Helpful Programmer Elves and Gods): It's been a plentiful year in 2008;So ,thankyou for all help which has been delivered as we all wish for better and bigger things in 2009;98SE survives independently on MSFN contributions as everyone else let's it die away(Why?,who knows as 70% of machines i help and repair are 98SE....hmmmmm?)RP*8 will be a great improvement when it's available and Auto-Patcher quickly saves on demand and MDCU and MDIE6CU,and WUPG with Kex0.3.6 and Uberskin are all appreciated as "God-sends" for stabilizing our 98SE Systems.Possibly we wish for Santa/Elves to deliver an Auto-Patcher'09 New or an add-on module(for new updates) to previous editions to help load updates more precise and as well organized as past Auto-Patcher editions have so greatly done Let'promote 98SE with a major boost in 2009 and create an Ultimate 98SE OperatingSystem which even Microsoft would have been proud of. <98SEU;98SecondEditionUltimate> ***Anyone else out there with these cares??? My 6-98SE MoBo's sincerely thank all, in MSFNForums which help in our daily survival Thydreamwalker and friends
