Have I Office 2007 Enterprise Edition?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to codeblue's topic in Application Installs
I know that using a custom install pack requires windows installer 3.1 but i dont know what message you would see if you tried to create an msp from a machine without it. -
I saw these down in the 'similar posts' section and thought they looked a little out of place here (the devilsown in the title of the one is what caught my eye) http://www.msfn.org/board/Problem-resolved...evil-s-t65.html http://www.msfn.org/board/windows-xp-dell-...-final-t43.html http://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-XP-t71.html http://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-xp-eval-pack-t88.html

If i install Framework 3.5 do i need also 2.0 + 3.0
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to Outbreaker's topic in Windows XP
no way! thats so awesome (seriously) it should been done that way from the beginning -
yeah i dont think the target market for these laptops are people that are capable of building their own system. i think their target market is prolly people that want to buy something high end because their tech savvy friend/enemy/guildmate has a PC with a quad core/sli system another horribly over priced status symbol that just so happens to be a laptop: http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/04/dell-re...rcraft-edition/ completly overspeced for wow (even with 100 leaky mods) but people will buy it for whatever price they sticker to it.

I just saw this over at [H]ardOCP and thought it might be of some help to people building new systems that dont know what their PSUs wattage rating needs to be

Is this possible? XP connected to only 1/2 IP addresses
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to rsb's topic in Windows XP
Hamachi can create a secure tunnel between to remote machines so they apper to be on the same lanbut i dont think it would restrict traffic to a machine. perhaps a router that was configured to show all ports as shut except 1 or 2 and have hamachi connected through that? -
http://www.vigorgaming.com/product/config_atlantiscl.html Starting at the low low price of 2489 and you can go over 5G with em A guy that works for me bought the Artorius and paid over 4Gs and its a beast of a laptop but he go the mice gray finish and its worn off of the top

The Size of my Multiboot dvd is to big
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to bomen1's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
or compress some of the files and decompress them after booting with runonce, guirunonce, etc. but that will add to your install time. Im curious what do you have on your DVD that could be using that much space? -
http://driverpacks.net/ Add driverpacks base + Driverpack LAN if you are low on space on the ISO then just add a shortcut to the all users desktop for support.dell.com, support.hp.com, support.gateway.com and support.acer.com otherwise, add as many of the packs as you can LAN+Chipset+CPU+Mass Storage will save you a TON of time on new builds and dont take up much space WLAN, Sound and Graphics packs are HUGE though

i was having the same issue because for whatever reason, the registry settings aren't read until a theme is applied. I have a 640*480 logo that i wanted centered on the desktop and the background set to match the image bg so it looks like a full wallpaper regardless of screen size/aspect but mine kept applying the wallpaper but stretching it to the full size. using the method the the MSFN guide i was able to get it working however the guide doesnt tell you if you extract your wallpapers to %systemdrive%\Windows\ and apply them using the theme, if the user switches the wallpaper they cannot switch back unless they browse to the wallpaper so i extract mine to %systemdrive%\Windows\Web\Wallpaper and if the user changes their theme, they can still fing our wallpaper on the 'desktop' tab without browsing to it. http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/76/

Why wont my serial work for Upgrading from WMCE?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to Bigdank's topic in Windows XP Media Center Edition
if you bought XP Pro RETAIL (came in a big blue box) and you have the original Hologram media and the CD-Key from the Microsoft COA (certificate of authenticity) that came in that box, then boot from that cd and do a clean install. It will wipe out everything on the system (including XP MCE) so be sure to have a second PC available or download drivers for your laptop to a USB drive/Burn a CD BEFORE installing. If you do not have all of the following do NOT attempt a clean install: XP Pro Retail CD CD-Key from the COA the COA itself (in case you have to call MS if you have an activation issue) NIC/Modem Drivers or another PC But seriously, I've worked on tons of PCs with every flavor of XP and i can tell you no compatibility issues exist in MCE that arent present in XP SP2. Just trying to save you a lengthy reinstall of essentially the same OS. -
Windows Update Downloader error
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to chinny's topic in Windows Updates Downloader
First make sure you have .net 2.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en if you do, try downloading the UL from the site and running it http://wud.jcarle.com/UpdateLists.aspx AFAIK, WUD doesnt use the registry. just look in its install folder for the list file if you want to delete it also, your school blocks windows update? that doesn't sound like a very smart thing to do. thats just begging for an outbreak (and all the more reason to get your system up to date). -gotta protect your PC from your classmates out of date vulnerable/infected machines but to be fair, the windows update website blames almost every problem it has on your firewall config so depending on the message, it may not be your schools fault. -
Why wont my serial work for Upgrading from WMCE?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to Bigdank's topic in Windows XP Media Center Edition
XP MCE > XP PRO XP PRO has less features than XP MCE (which is essentially XP PRO SP2 with the 'Media Center' app and dancing people) also, OEM licenses are not transferable and XP MCE was never available as a retail version so unless you can get OEM versions of your OS, those keys will not work (and if theyve been on other hardware you may have activation issues) So if you really dont want MCE just delete the shortcut off the desktop and pretend its XP PRO. you arent missing anything else by not installing XP PRO. -
A loss for the MPAA is a win for everyone so this makes me smile "Ubuntu developer Matthew Garrett has succeeded in getting the MPAA to remove their 'University Toolkit' after claims it violated the GNU GPL. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the MPAA directly, Garrett eventually emailed the group's ISP and the violating software was taken down." found via slashdot: http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/12/04/015229 the spyware in question was previously available at: http://universitytoolkit.org/ I know they'll just put the thing back up sooner or later and they never stopped suing 14 year olds and threatening grandmas pension but fo the next 5 minutes at least, im counting it as a win.

how to remove 'Press any key to boot from CD'
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to jinmoda's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
My unattended install wipes the first drive it finds and starts installing if you 'Press any key to boot from CD' so i would never remove it but does anyone know how to increase the delay? or move the message to say somewhere near the middle of the screen? -
hey it worked for mark russinovich. but that guy created a TON of hardcore utils
-
this article says it applies to SP2 but could apply to SP3 as well http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873148 if that doesnt work, you could try creating a new administrator level account on the PC, login to it and run MS update. if that works then its something in your users profile. Not the best solution but it would give you a better idea of the problem.

help with http script
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to smartie91's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
this could prolly be done with a little java script but my JS is too rusty to come up with a maintainable, crossbrowser solution off the top of me head but id try something like this if you have a PHP enabled webserver <?php if ($_POST['tennis']=="1" OR $_POST['reading']=="1" OR $_POST['basketball']=="1" OR $_POST['boxing']=="1" OR $_POST['football']=="1" OR $_POST['cricket']=="1") { if ($_POST['tennis']=="1" AND $_POST['reading']=="1" AND $_POST['boxing']=="1") { header('Location: http://www.tennisreadingandboxing.com'); } if ($_POST['tennis']=="1" AND $_POST['reading']=="1") { header('Location: http://www.tennisandreading.com'); } } else { ?> <form id="myform" class="cssform" action="<?php echo $SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" method="POST"> <p> <label for="comments">Hobbies:</label><br> <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="tennis" /> Tennis<br /> <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="reading" class="threepxfix" /> Reading <br /> <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="basketball" class="threepxfix" /> Basketball <br /> <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="boxing" /> Boxing<br /> <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="football" class="threepxfix" /> Football<br /> <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="cricket" class="threepxfix" /> Cricket <br /> </p> <div style="margin-left: 150px;"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> <input type="reset" value="reset" /> </div> </form> <?php } ?> Disclaimer: its quick and dirty and there are about a million ways to do it cleaner but its an example. nothing more. -
Id use everest but if your just looking for real quick info about your board/ram try this: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner (open that in IE -activeX required) it wont tell you the speed you have your ram clocked at but it will give you info about what speeds your board will support and whether itll do ECC/Dual channel

How Can I Buld Business System, Manage The Business System?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to 567's topic in General Discussion
Ok seriously, I have to know what is your primary language (assuming you have one) -
I'm gonna have to second this advice. Usually the amount of security applied to a deployed machine is directly related to how many people could/would circumvent it. If you bypass a security restriction, you could find yourself locked down even further. as for finding files on the network drive is concerned, how much stuff are you storing on that drive? I'm just not seeing finding files on a remote drive being that big of a feature unless there are further restrictions (such as not being able to create folders)

I cant believe somebody wrote software to fix this. I installed it and it does work but i also uninstalled it because i cant justify having a program running as a service to fix something i never really considered broken (even it was only taking up 8k) It not for me but i know somebody here has been looking for a way to fix this issue http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=10 --EDIT-- LOL, before anyone asks, theres an nLite addon for it here http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2071
