every new computer interface SUCKS, sticking with winME
dencorso replied to ZortMcGort11's topic in Windows 9x/ME
It can be aproximated, though: (a+b)/a = a/b... try 2584:1597, for instance... -

The best ratio is [1+sqrt(5)]/2, of course! -
60 GB for 8.1 x64 and 7SP1 x64, and 40 GB for 8.1 x86, 7SP1 x86 and XP SP3 are plenty of space. One can fit two x64 or three x86 independent boot partitions in the average 120 GB SSD, and that's a great option: easy and fast to image for backup, not too expensive, in what regards hardware and works great and fast!

Do you really think Google is more trustworthy than MS? Trust no corporation (particularly when it's big or multinational) is a much safer stance. My 2¢, of course!

Yet another icon suggestion... this is not The Moon but a moon... it's Charon, Pluto's biggest satelite, thanks to the the New Horizons spacecraft. New_Charon.ico -
Adobe Flash, Shockwave, and Oracle Java on XP (Part 1)

Well, you were perceptive enough to notice the replicate signature quite fast, weren't you? And that trigered my subsequent reaction... -
Adobe Flash, Shockwave, and Oracle Java on XP (Part 1)

Because it was a span-bot and randomly selected your signature, describing your very unusual setup, to copy... that gave it away, instead of helping it mingle... Great find! -
Retro Build - can't pass POST - only sealed hardware used

Get yourself a decent 350W power suply and try using it instead of the 250W one you now have. This is not a very longshot, those old power suplies were far from reliable, if compared with the ones we have now.- 30 replies

BTW, as the screen-shot in @wyxchari clearly shows. this month there's also ndp40-kb4021915-x86, which is available for download at the MS Update Catalog, but is not being offered at MU/WU, for some obscure and unguessable reason...

Copy contents from drive 1 to (new) drive 2 = defrag?
dencorso replied to Nomen's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Obviously, it'll be fully "defragged" or, to put it better, each file'll be contiguous, at the end of the copy operation, no matter how fragmented it might have been in the source. -
It's however somewhat difficult to get any results through 1mm thick insulating tape (even Mark Zuckerberg's own camera is under black tape, too, BTW).

Because paying provides one with an ear to shower complaints into when the worst happens because of one's own incompetence/carelessness. Such products, no matter how good, sell one safety, which is a lie: nobody's ever safe, particularly not from one's own stupidity/gullibility. This is the best explanation I can offer.

Well, Numb, what I do is to use either just: " ===============" or something like: " Later edit: --------------" Moreover, even acknowledging this editor does suck, because it hates BBCode, one can still obtain single spaces from <Shift>+<Enter> and double spaces by using just <Enter>... it's nor much, but this does allow some spartan formatting... Good luck!

Welcome to MSFN, Mr. Numb! Please be so kind as to observe the "Edit" command is there, just beside "Quote", for a reason. Hence, please, avoid bumping unnecessarily threads here. Thank you.

Just in case it may still be relevant: -
There is no such thing as "abandonware", from the point-of-view of the US Law, which is the one MSFN abides by. So Rule #1 applies. Simple as that. Please observe that the underlined words in blue are links you're expected to follow and read to fully grasp my point.

How exactly do you do it? ----- Later addition: Never mind. It just dawned on me you meant changing the system date (= machine date), not the date inside the cabs. Of course! That should work but is not recommended at all.
-
That's for sure!!!
-
Of course he is! The source of the problem are @glnz's supermegaüberparanoid security settings, of course!

Welcome to the fold! BTW, I forget mine sometimes, too... good to know I'm not alone!

Sez u. Thread title and 1st post are crystal clear subject is IE 11 on 8.0. Then again, there's nothing more to discuss here, so let's move on. ============== Later addition: According to the ENU Wikipedia, IE11 was officially released for Win 8.1 on 17 October 2013, and only later, on 7 November 2013, for Win 7 SP1. Now, the 17 October 2013 date is qite significant, because that's the day Win 8.1 itself was officially released. Those dates make it quite improbable (but not impossible, of course!) that any version of IE11 ever accepted installation on top of Win 8.0, unless it was a preview or leaked pre-release version, IMHO.
