  1. You're out of luck then. You need to get the administrative account and use task scheduler to make an event that way. Vista has very tight security controls for "unscheduled events'. thanks for your reply, i tried it, i scheduled as an administrator user but it runs only for that user. i have another idea, i get from registry the last logged on user data with a small vbs (DOMAIN\USERNAME) but the password of the current user is still missing, so it won't work anyway thx regards, roland There must be some way to get this application permission. If you can do that, it will run for all users. Right-click, go to properties, then the security tab and mess around with the permissions. Do this under administrator. Enable this file to have permission to run for all users.
  2. Yes. With high prices too. It will remain an Enthusiast/Premium product for some time. Intel has to recoup R&D costs. Its a more complex, and larger chip which uses more materials. Not only that but its currently the fastest CPU available, so they can charge more. All this means that its going to cost alot more, and sell alot less. It would be financial suicide to cut the Core2Duos and go i7 only. Mainstream and low-end products are the bread and butter of the company.
  3. No. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-roa...lease,6393.html They're just now discontinuing the E6750. Look at the life its had. I don't expect them to kill of Core2Duo until at least the end of 2009.
  4. It won't work because there is no driver for it. You need to go to the motherboard manufacturer's website (i'm assuming you have onboard chip) and download the sound driver for the motherboard model. Also, why are you formatting 2x per week? Does it work at all? When does it stop working? Spontaneously? Immediatelly after a software install? Long time after software install? If you want an answer you have to be specific, and provide as many details as possible about what is causing the issue, when, and on what kind of hardware. Not just: "I have a computer and it restarts, I don't know what to do you guyz!"

  6. Run memtest86 on the chip. Maybe its bad.
  7. Very nice. Clean, organized, and the theme is easy on the eyes.
  8. Awesome. Now what about domain registration? Does the host do it or do I have to go through a registrar like GoDaddy?
  9. I want to start off low, $5/month sounds great. This is until I get everything assembled, then upgrade my plan as is necessary. This is why I need something flexible.
  10. This website is mostly focused towards your stuff. You won't get more traffic until you offer whatever readers you have more. If you want a website that gets alot of traffic, then make a website designed and tailored for alot of traffic. As far as a theme, what do you like? For example, I am currently designing a website with my car & tech designs. I'm converting my sketches in 3D, rendering them and will be putting them up.
  11. I doubt Intel will stop selling Core2Duo for at least 8-12months. But they will be cutting back the weaker models as usual. Core2Duo will remain entry-mainstream level for some time. Also, you are not taking into account the cost of the platform. Its not just the CPU that's costly. AMD needs to cut the cost of the motherboards next.
  12. So you're not getting any traffic. You should ask yourself this: Why is my blog any different than the legions of other blogs? What is the purpose/focus of my blog? What needs to be done to modify the website for its intended purpose?
  13. I looked at the Dreamhost website. I don't like the unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth 'forever'. For less than $6/mo there must be a catch. Looks like they're overselling.
  14. Best mod is the 4x PS3 running in Gran Turismo in 2160p (yes you read that correctly).
  15. I still disable useless services. It really does help with performance and system responsiveness. Less to start up with, less to hog bandwidth on ram, disk, or to run in the background doing who knows what. Like indexing, and performance monitoring/logging.
  16. So how many coasters did you get?
  17. From the performance increases we've seen on their brand spanking new Opterons (Shanghai), and assuming their desktop chips make as much progress... It'll still take more than that to catch up to i7 unfortunately. I guess they'll keep being the budget CPU company for a while longer. Anyhow. I just bought 4GB more of Corsair today (2x Antec 300, 2x Seasonic SS-350ET, 4GB of 800MHz Corsair DDR2 and 2 pairs of Sony earphones for $200.93 CAD including UPS dlivery and taxes in!) I'll soon find out how it plays with the old OCZ. Having the best chip is not necessarily the most important. Price to performance counts alot. As long as it can hold its own against i7 at a fraction of the cost AMD has a winner.
  18. No dedicated hosting yet. Shared. Cheaper most of the time, right?
  19. I'm looking for a good website host. What do you recommend in Canada? The site I'm going to host is going to be pretty heavy on graphics, but I don't expect any major traffic for at least a year until its fully operational. So I'm looking for something that starts out cheap and is flexible. Reputation is most important. I don't want anything shady like GoDaddy. Is a domain name always included?
  20. Wow that sucks. I am just looking for website hosting and MSFN was the first choice.
  21. dont just use a normal rag, get a microfiber cloth, they leave no streaks! Getting all high-tech on us are you?
  22. That's not how you OC. You raise the bar, you check for artifacts and anomalies with ATi Tool (its not ATi specific), then raise the bar again. Just like you OC the CPU. When you do overclock you do a stability test. Also since this is the G80, it could have the dreaded issue that nVidia recalled so many mobile GPUs for. There were rumors desktop cards were affected, but not as bad or as frequent.
  23. Or AMD rise from the dead.
