  1. Because there's such a huge market for Windows 3.11 now.
  2. Did you check the trash bin? Just kidding. Don't be lazy. Do a Google search. You might find some really old websites.
  3. How much ram does the laptop have?
  4. I see. Viiv is a software tool that can enable a few cool things. First it will support a TV tuner if you have one, second it has a quick resume feature from sleep. Its a little faster than the defaults available by the OS. Its nothing really revolutionary, and if you don't use these features you won't notice the difference. If you do install it, do it after the driver installs. Also, some of those drivers are old. You got them from the Dell website didn't you? OEMs don't update too often. Go to the intel website, and the nVidia website for updated drivers. I've done a search on the SIGMATEL, there is an update: http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?cat=su...ista%20sigmatel You want the 5866. Do not get the one that has "RC" in the name. RC stands for Release Candidate. These are released usually for testing and are not to be trusted for a stable system.
  5. OrbitDownloader http://www.orbitdownloader.com/download.htm
  6. If its not media files then compress it with 7zip or WinRAR. You mean like transistors, power cords... etc.
  7. Crucial won't give you a proper answer because you are giving it wrong information. What is physically printed on the outside of the computer case? A sticker, a label, an engraving. Notice how the Dell laptop is branded "DELL"?
  8. Depends. If its drivers only then install it. It should be more updated than what Windows has. Post a list of what you are trying to install.
  9. There's no such thing as a Viiv processor. Its just marketing. Its really a platform. Mobile chipset + Core2Duo mobile + low power integrated intel graphics = Viiv. It doesn't matter what order you install them in, they do not overlap.
  10. Which one has the robot in it? Yeah, not that one. The new one is great. More realistic, and the character has more depth. Great movie.
  11. Most computer stores sell ram. Also, what is the make and model of your PC? Look at it and tell us. Is it a Dell, Apple, Acer.... etc. And what model it is. Don't give us a bunch of junk from PCWizard. That does not help us, and it does not help you since we may reccomend the wrong type of memory. I really do not believe you can stick 2GB of ram in that thing. Not with 128mb stick originally.
  12. You do A, you get result B. Therefore B is caused by A. You'll save alot of time looking for the obvious first. Now you know never to mess with the BIOS. If you do, make sure you triple check that: 1. You have the proper BIOS files. Check it again. 2. You do it in DOS mode, or with a built in utility. My BIOS has a utility built in to update itself off a CD/USB. 3. Make sure the flash is done correctly, and its complete. If it goes bad, you can immediately re-flash it again as long as you do not restart the PC. I've also fried a motherboard with a bad BIOS update.

    1. vLite is not like nLite. nLite for XP/2003/2000 vLite for Vista/2008/Windows7. 2. Not all the options in nLite have been implemented in vLite. nLite has been in development a long time. Its a very mature application. 3. Although English is not your first language, try to use proper grammar otherwise we don't know what you are trying to say.
  14. Vista is not like its predecessors. Its designed to use more memory. I had it on a CoreDuo T2080 laptop with 1GB of memory. It was a dog. As soon as I upgraded the memory to 2GB it made all the difference. I also compared it to XP SP3 on the same laptop. Although it uses more memory, it is much more responsive and most operations like copy, cut & paste, compressing are either just as fast or a little faster. There are benchmarks done which you can find on the net which support my claims. Try it yourself. Get a computer with at least 2GB of DDR2, and an Athlon X2 or a Core2Duo. Something new-ish. Install XP64, then Vista 64. You will be surprised at the results.
  15. The SMART report is useless. You need a tool to analyze the resuts. Get SeaTools for windows and scan the drive again with SMART. It will analyse your results and tell you if each is good or bad and by how much. http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools
  16. Readme.txt -> Readme.old As far as the OS is concerned, the file disappeared.
  17. I don't think its a bother this time. The list has been updated as of 2008.
  18. Print spooler and dependencies running?
  19. You can say that after you read the differences between the two. But you didn't. Don't be a jerk. Here's a table that's easier to read than going through Wikipedia: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/01/27/w...son-and-matrix/
  20. Owner's key? What does it do? This was not mentioned before, I did a search on the forum for "owner's key".
  21. It got updated from last I read. The chart is gone. The information is now in Wkipedia -> Windows Vista -> Further Reading (right pane under basic info) -> Vista Editions
  22. Forgive me for being a n00b. This is going to be my first website. This is what I understand so far: 1. Get a shared hosting provider. Anhosting or Dreamhost. Depends on total final costs. 2. Register the doman. GoDaddy if they do .ca domains, otherwise I will go with a Canadian registrar. 3. The host and the registrar are independent. This means I can change my hosting company when I need something beefier and still keep my domain name. More Questions: I am designing the site in DreamWeaver and Fireworks. I want the site to 'adjust' itself to the screen. Like Anadtech. In the upper right corner there are options for page width, and text size. Is this standard HTML? Does it matter if I get a Windows or Linux host?
  23. Wikipedia -> Search "Vista" -> Table Summarizing Editions
