  1. It would, stay tuned. Each update roll out is staged.

  2. I do. That's why I'm busy and don't sit here often.

  3. Yeah, I know. In my spare time I've been searching for Danish updates in the Wayback Machine for about four years now and not very much has been archived in the (da/dan/dk/da-DK) localization. Though I've found some other workarounds (old MSDN CD's and in some cases found the corresponding files as .cab files from the Windows Update server) it still gives me a headache - and here we're talking about the DOS based versions of Windows of course. I was also sure it did exist in Danish back then. The first Danish version of Windows was 3.0 and though the Server versions of Windows usually were only localized into Swedish (among the four Nordic languages) their website and WU have also worked in my native language. But yeah, that would be very kind of you. I'm a Danish teacher myself and have been contributing with a lot of translations for, the now abandoned project, Songbird (an iTunes clone) and for a very short time OpenOffice.org and Firefox as well. I stopped as I couldn't find the time for it anymore. If you're able to get the Danish version to work, and if we're not talking about kilometers of text strings, I would like to help you/all of us with the localization.

  4. This is false. I release both 32 and 64 bit builds of Basilisk for Windows. Edit: sorry for reviving an old thread, I wasn't paying attention to the dates. Ignore me

  7. I don't suppose there's anyway you can build an x64 version of MailNews, is there? I'm waiting on an update for Interlink, and next month will mark a year since the last one. Even if a single updated build for x64 could be made, that would hold me for a bit. Just wanted to ask. Cheers Roytam!

  8. Where were you 20 years ago? Did you have an internet connection? They already tried to push that agenda in European Union, somewhere in 2006! Plenty of creepy looking games without blood! Yes, the body just falls and no blood gets out, example Sacred (First, good German Sacred RPG with blood) and bloodless Titan Quest. That's a sure way to p*ss off many gamers, thus provoking real violence! P.S. Looks like your finger got stuck on SHIFT or CAPSLOCK.

  9. That itself is a USA issue. We have politicians that think an 8yr old should be able to walk into a doctor's office and request a sex change operation without parental consent. Pertaining to this topic - Is the 8yr old that wants the sex change "mental"? Or is the 70yr old politician that wants the 8yr old to make that decision "mental"? These are the "debates" that go in in the USA. It's sad, in my opinion. Because we have TEACHERS in this country that then argue that if an 8yr old can make these decisions, then a 12yr old can consent to sexual acts with the teacher. You see why there is no "meat" to this thread and it's reduced to "rubbish"? It's because MSFN is not the place to be discussing circumcision and at what age, or "consent" and at what age. It's not like Mental Health is only OCD, ADHD, and Asperger's.

  11. No, that is not possible. Neither Bios nor UEFI read the BCD. BIOS reads the MBR and its code then loads the bootsector of the partition, the bootsector code loads the BOOTMGR that reads the BCD (the one in \boot\BCD). UEFI reads the BOOTMGR.EFI that reads the BCD (the one in /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/BCD). The cause of the slowness must be *something else*. jaclaz

  12. It's different here in the USA. SOMETHING is different. I don't know what it is. Nor do you. I don't really even think that the "experts" really know. OUR news media (here in the US) always always always blames "violent video games" AND "mental health" - neither has "statistical backing", but both get "blamed" nonetheless. REALITY is that SOMETHING is different HERE IN THE USA. https://www.americanprogress.org/article/debunking-myths-the-gun-lobby-perpetuates-following-mass-shootings/ <excerpt> The United States has the highest level of gun violence across developed nations, with a gun homicide rate 26 times greater than that of peer nations. This number is even higher among young Americans, who experience a gun homicide rate 49 times greater than that of other developed nations. A 2015 research study examining 226 men who committed or attempted to commit a mass shooting found that only 22 percent could be categorized as mentally ill. In 2021, researchers found that only 8 percent of people who perpetrate mass shootings have a history of documented psychotic symptoms. <excerpt>

  13. Yes, IIRC at the time (Dec. 2021) it was true, and there was some hostility between MCP and users of @roytam1's builds; hence my advice. I wanted to avoid giving MCP's Web site any "clues" (via the user agent string) that one was running an unofficial build. But that's not true any more, so I updated that old post - and thank you for releasing 32-bit builds! Even in the Win 7+ world, 32-bit PCs (and VMs) are occasionally found.

  14. I for one am not really sure of just "what" the topic was "expected" to unfold into - all MSFN members publicly declaring their "condition" and providing a full list of "meds" ???

  15. Oh, that doesn't sound good. I know English and French are more common languages than Danish, but I hoped it wouldn't make any problems as it still is among those ~24 standard standalone localized versions of Windows (like Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish) without the need for any special language packs - if they even were a "thing" yet back then. Btw, after running Fiddler at the same time as Internet Explorer, IE crashed. I've uploaded two log files from Fiddler - the 2nd one may be the most relevant one. 1st time.txt 2nd time.txt

  16. Hi WULover. I've tried the updated version of the website (v3.windowsupdaterestored.com) and it still doesn't work properly ... at least here (on Windows 98 SE DK). I've tried to overwrite the wupdmgr.exe with the English one and to not do it as well (by using snapshots in VMware). Both times I've chosen to install ident.cab afterwards - and the website says the reason it doesn't work may be caused by a network issue or a broken (catalog) file. :-(

  17. It's one of my favorite accounts. I log in every 30 days to create a Mail Hold - every 30 datys! I literally only walk out to the mailbox and retrieve mail TWELVE times per YEAR. I get ZERO "junk mail" because flyers and advertisements and all sorts of JUNK are not "held" by the Post Office to deliver on my Mail Hold end-date.

  19. I am very excited that you guys got it working as I am trying to preserve a lot of localized updates myself. :-) However, I am stuck with a cursor showing an hourglass all the time when I am trying to search for updates. I have tried the same website in three different setups in VMware (Windows 95 OSR 2.5 US and DK - and Windows 98 SE DK). Am I missing some prerequisites or what? I have already installed IE 5.5 SP2 in Windows 95 and IE 6.0 SP1 in Windows 98.

  20. I've heard on the news Slovenia is one of those countries where people sleep the least. I definitely don't belong here, LOL. One can't work properly without enough sleep, you know.

  21. I do skimp through some of them (topics), but there isn't much time and energy left after the endless pointless tedious daily cycle of "working for the living", even for interests of my own discovery. My favorite sight has become that of a cozy bed. They say sleeping is the closest thing to death while being alive. I'm wondering more often if there's even a point to keep going.

  22. To be added (politely and in a calmly way): Do not mistake a technical board for social media. A place called Funny Farm is likely supposed to contain something funny, an endless amount of random links to (BTW crappy) random sites is not funny, and is (somehow) appropriate on twitter or facebook or instagram You have by now what? three or four long threads filled with this stuff. Do you really-really need to start new threads for these? jaclaz
