@Tihiy This problem still occurs in 3.9.14, I use compact mode and Rectify11 msstyles.1 point

You only cite "Serpent 52.9". I use Serpent 52.9 *daily* (for texting from home computer as I do not own a phone!). Therefore, I feel compelled to report, as a *daily* user of "Serpent 52.9", that I do not get this small save-file window. I personally use the below version as I have always had issues with SESSION-RESTORE not working in anything "newer". I have not tried any "newer" version in the last couple of month or so because doing so has somewhat become a "waste of my time" as SESSION-RESTORE issues are never in the changelog!1 point

For the Vista lovers 😽 : yt-dlp_Py3.11_Vista.7z (password: 987123). Updated today. (the XP version does not work on Vista)1 point

They claim this issue is now fixed, could you confirm? And it's again fixed by @win32, not "Thorium" author. https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/releases/tag/M122.0.6261.169 "GDI text rendering alignment is fixed This bug caused text to be askew, either too high or too low, or too much to the left. The reason previous releases didn't have this fixed, is that win32ss fixed it in Skia, which is a third_party submodule of Chromium."1 point

Since WebGPU ("unsafe" GPU, how the devs still call it) now works on Vista+, it'd make sense for @XPerceniol to switch it off, too. (since he disables webgl, I thought it'd be of interest) https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/releases/tag/M122.0.6261.1691 point

Did you try this one? https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/NVIDIA/NVIDIA-GeForce-iCafe-Graphics-Driver-34726-for-XP.shtml1 point

Blurays and films that are "remastered" by id*ots is nothing new. They are too bright and acid, agree. It's the same as those newly remastered audio CDs during the ear of loudness wars. https://dr.loudness-war.info/ I just can't find the proper English jargon name for such releases. Brightness wars, maybe?1 point

Try it! And clear SSL cache and personal information once again! And I can't read your WindowsUpdate.log. Check it and upload it again! There is something misconfigured either in config.ini (do you use my provided config.ini for HTTPSProxy?) or in IE. Why is your WindowsUpdate.log unreadable? p.s.: Use a taskmanager to check if nothing interferes your connection to MU. I use Process Hacker, in my opinion the best.1 point

Just to clarify Microsoft Update Search doesn't work in your Windows XP system due to never ending process. Is that right?1 point

In the past I had similar problems but thinking the search is forever never getting a result is in most cases wrong. Such searches can last more than an hour. But no one wants to wait for such a long time so they will be abandoned by user. My tip often helps to avoid such long searches.1 point

@Dave-H Fine. I've added my HTTPSProxy's config.ini so you can use that or compare it to yours. https://www.mediafire.com/file/6emtdvx2vmw4iz8/HTTPSProxy_-_config.ini/file1 point
-
@Dave-H Of course there are differences. HTTPSProxy ran from the very first I tried to access MU without any problems. Configuring was very easy. ProxHTTPSProxy didn't run from the very first. I had a lot of trials to get it work. Configuring wasn't easy. I had certificate problems too. In HTTPSProxy the certificate management is much easier. Beyond that HTTPSProxy is more user-friendly compared to ProxHTTPSProxy and can be accessed in SysTray at any time incl. switching on and off. By the way did you try my attached ProxHTTPSProxy's config, ini in this post? For me it is working smoothly.1 point
-
@Dave-H And if you still have problems to access MU you could give HTTPSProxy a try. You can install both on your machine they are portable but do not run both at same time i.e. they may not be executed in RAM at the same time otherwise they interfere. I don't know if I am allowed to upload HTTPSProxy due to the fact that @Thomas S. hasn't been here for a long time and he is the author. What do you think?1 point

And what I'm trying to say , Aero buttons are still absent even in 2.2.8 (not to mention 3.x.x.) and even with the hex edit. (do you want me to repeat again?) Yes , I agree with Dixel , they somewhat look better after hexing , some curves are added , they don't look as flat as before , but nowhere near the previous ones , that you (and most of us) wanted to see . So hexing is NOT the ultimate solution , it's better to roll-back to earlier versions , 2.2.6 something. I don't quite understand how "testing again using a maximised window" will help with the aero look in the butoons . I'm just starting to think you don't understand English well enough , or have a poor LCD display and simply can't see the obviuos difference , excuse me if I'm wrong (in advance) , but it's pretty obvious and shown well enough at Dixel's picture with the patched 3.3.x and NOT patched 2.2.x . Also , his upper frame looks prettier than the one that you provided , I mean the shape , not the colour , since it is his own customized colour. In case you don't agree or understand again , please refrain from asking me 'cause I simply can't tell you anything new apart from what I've already said , please ask other members if they see the obvious differnce at the Dixel's picture .1 point

Golden words , like . The only minor thing left , explain it to many others on here , that use yandex [!] , yes living in United Kingdom , for example , and yet using yandex . As for me , I just block tons of china-russia IPs with firewall. The same goes to google, yahoo , etc.1 point

I still have somewhere a windows-98 compatible Fujitsu motherboard from around 2006 and it was affected by this famous capacitor plague . Capacitor made by OST went bad (bulging, leaking) , blue coloured to be precise , near the RAM slots . I had to replace it with Philips capacitor Made in Holland , from the 1980s and it worked just fine.1 point

That is the UI that looks the same on Windows 7 , so I assume that is exactly what developers wanted. Still that doesnt explain why Aero is NOT working in your case , I'm guessing you installed a ton of newish updates , ain't that right ? If you desperately need that precise version , you can try Application Verifier and set it to lie about Windows version , the instructions are one the page with KernelEx. It worked for win32 and many others (aero theme in browsers worked) That's my advice. Or revert Vista to smth like 2017.1 point

I think Aero-styled buttons were available at 2.x.x versions only . I noticed they replaced the perfectly good Vista buttons starting from 3.x.x. with the ugly Win 10 buttons. It is strange about m4a though , I can play them fine .1 point
-
Those aren't 'retro' , those are FLAT , 'modern' type , Win10 style . And on your pic. with Windows 7 is just an older version. I too have Win7 installed for testing purposes and they look EXACTLY the same with this version . Why did you assume that someone wanted to lie to you ? It's not the right attitude at all. Try an older version and you will get those Vista style buttons . The main point is Aero working and everything looks like it supposed to be. And don't be hostile, people are here to help , not to argue.1 point
