  8. The CO2 levels in the earth's atmosphere have doubled since the industrial era of 1700s to now. At only 0.04% it is considered the main contributor to the greenhouse effect here on earth. 'This ability to absorb and re-emit infrared energy is what makes CO2 an effective heat-trapping greenhouse gas. Not all gas molecules are able to absorb IR radiation. For example, nitrogen (N2) and oxygen (O2), which make up more than 90% of Earth's atmosphere, do not absorb infrared photons. CO2 molecules can vibrate in ways that simpler nitrogen and oxygen molecules cannot, which allows CO2 molecules to capture the IR photons.' https://scied.ucar.edu/learning-zone/how-climate-works/carbon-dioxide-absorbs-and-re-emits-infrared-radiation 'SO2 converts to sulfuric acid aerosols that block incoming solar radiation and contribute to ozone destruction. The blocked solar radiation can cause global cooling.': - Bing Venus is covered by sulfuric acid clouds yet has the hottest average surface temperature of all the planets in our solar system at a calculated 460 deg C. Due to the ~98% H2SO3 clouds, its surface gets about 5% of the solar radiation compared to Earth. It is about the same size as Earth and its atmosphere is 96% CO2. It shows us what the greenhouse effect is capable of and in our closest neighboring planet. Methane has 28 times more warming effect than CO2, NO 265 times and SF6 23500 times. Iodine 129 is quite stable having a half-life of 16 million years. The nuclear industry does not scrub all of the Iodine from the fuel reprocessing and 5 - 10% of Iodine is released into the atmosphere. The level of Iodine in the atmosphere has trebled since the 1950s. Storms can make Iodine reach the stratosphere and deplete Ozone at a rate of over 700 times that of Chlorine. The latest consensus is that clouds are formed from seeding and earth's clouds contribute to greenhouse effect by keeping temperatures elevated at night. Iodine particulates form aerosols which seed clouds. CERN has done the experiment and even tested in the air surrounding the Maido observatory. Iodine’s reactions in the atmosphere are known to play a role in reducing levels of OH for example, which can increase the lifetime of methane and other greenhouse gases. Uranium is not usually found in concentrated clusters yet spread thought the world in a more even concentration. There is more to be found in the oceans. You would think that the leaching and pumping and opencut mines would be more damaging to the environment than a conventional mine as more new mines would have to be open in new areas on the land. UF6 depleted Uranium is stored in steel containers. It is a dangerous compound when exposed to moisture, - it releases hydrofluoric acid. Hydrofluoric acid is considered week because it can only have a concertation of up to 70% in water but it will leach glass. Each 1000MW nuclear power plant generates 27 tones of high-level waste which is about 12.5 cubic meters a year. About 1/3 of that has been reprocessed into a more concentrated form although spent fuel needs to be stored on site till it stops generating heat which is about 40 years. Some countries are spending a lot of money on Nuclear but the world will have a lot of accumulated pollutants if fast neutron breeder reactors use up the U238. Form Energy are making Iron-Air batteries, a safe cheap way to go. AI, if it advances, uses batteries to power their systems. Other fast discharge chemistry batteries can be placed in parallel with iron-air to save space when low internal resistance is necessary, as in AI. They are probably using capacitive input filtered inverters and power supplies. If choke input filters are used the current draw will approach DC.

  14. Hi everyone, this is my first post on here, so please go easy on me as I am not familiar with all the minute ins and outs of this site. Fist off I want to thank the wonderful @blackwingcat for creating such a splendid project, it has truly breathed new life into this OS. Secondly, I want to thank the hero that is @windows2 for posting this video to the forums. I remember seeing this on Reddit, but I couldn't remember where. So coming across your post really helped me out massively with finally being able to setup and install the Extended Kernel. Without the video I may not have found out that I was still trying to install a much older version of the project, and would have still continued to get the same error that @spaztron64 Is currently having. This video truly helped me in so many ways. Now thirdly, I am wondering if @blackwingcat or anyone else, is planning on getting a working an mostly functional version of .NET Framework v4.5 working. I am wanting to get Discord installed on my DELL Latitude C840, reading to be used as a daily driver for a full fortnight. I have installed as much of the upgrades as I can think of that I also feel like they are not likely to nuke my system, and i have gotten really far. but I am really hoping that .NET Framework v4.5 might be able to get some more love now that it has been about a decade since @blackwingcat made a post on their website about their achievement with successfully installing it on their system. The blog write-up can be found here: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1707555.html They did however make these notes: "However, when I start a 4.5 compatible app, an error occurs." and this at the end of the article, "For now, it turns out that the core DLL has this many defective exports・ω・;" I find it curious that no further progress seems to have been made since at least the posting of this write-up back on September 10, 2012, and we are now in 2024 about to cross over into 2025. Is there any chance that the .NET Framework v4.5 compatibility progress will be picked up soon? The developers of Discord have stated that they are no longer going to be provide support for the x86 version of the desktop app, and I thought that now would be a great time to really make a lot of progress with being able to get Discord working on Windows 2k EX Kernel. I hope that this hasn't come across as too demanding, I often prefer to be very direct, it is one of the side effects of my ASD, and I honestly do not intend to be seen as being rude to anyone. I look forward to watching the continued progress and development of the Windows 2000 Extended Kernel, and hope that Discord will also be able to be made to work on Windows 2000. Thank you to all those who have stuck it out and hung in there, and taken the time to read my first post sorry for it being so long, I just had a lot going through my mind that I wanted to share. Thank you again.

  16. Ironic is how you conveniently ignore what is told by Microsoft. "Platform Update for Windows 7 provides partial functionality for": Direct3D 11.1 DXGI 1.2 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/win32/direct3darticles/platform-update-for-windows-7

  17. That KB was aimed to port partial typography functionality (Drwrite.dll) to browsers and the such, and it failed to do so, a good example is the inability to draw colour smileys in Windows 7. Instead you see B/W empty squares.

  18. You confuse hardware level with software level. "11_1 feature level" is a hardware level, it can't be "implemented" in just "soft" mode. Here you can educate yourself regarding the topic. 19. Never tried before uBlock Origin Lite. Always the standard version. But I will test it. However, I believe that the page loading speed is a general problem of Chrome and not of uBO, especially on old, weak hardware.

  20. I have just updated the Chrome XP API Adapter from version 1.2.0.5035 to 1.2.0.5045. Now, the page chrome://system/ works as it should and shows besides other information the RAM usage more compact than using the internal task manager. I have opened two tabs and eight extensions enabled in Thorium. The total RAM consumption is around 381 MB, also checked via Process Hacker. Here is a screenshot: I think such a RAM consumption is appropriate for a modern Chrome browser under Windows XP and remains within reasonable limits. However, the page loading behaviour in Thorium is still far away from the one in New Moon 28 or Mypal 68 on such an old, weak computer like mine. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  22. Just for clarification: No more, no less. In such cases, an IP change should solve it unless the computer is really sending too many requests to the affected server for whatever reason.

  23. How's this off-topic, uncontrollable stream of poor imagination, riddled with 2nd grader's smileys and personal insults supposed to help me? I understand you're very new to this forum and still learning how to make posts, please take example from UCyborg, who have helped me just fine, fast and even before the usual spam you posted, From him, I got all I needed to know, and without overly excessive babblery. Thank you @UCyborgfor the detailed explanations, good night!

  24. @Dixel Thorium is not fully portable. I know that. When installing extensions, there are corresponding entries written into the registry. I always use the flag --disable-machine-id but the flag --disable-encryption only if I move my profile folder.

  25. I believe that updating Chrome components in the background on Windows XP may now be more of a problem than a benefit. It's been so many years since support for Chrome on Windows XP was discontinued that components for this operating system are no longer being developed, let alone checked for compatibility. Thus, using the flag --disable-component-update seems to me a logical consequence.
    1 point
  26. As I already wrote, no components were installed in my Thorium installation. The list is simply empty. It was just an idea. Personally, I use the flag --disable-component-update.

  27. @Dave-H I have just seen your recently opened issue "Side by Side Error Recorded in Windows XP #85"on GitHub. I then checked my event logs but can't see any corresponding entries so far although the sub folder screen_ai also exists in my USER_DATA folder including this ominous chrome_screen_ai.dll file. Furthermore, I checked my installed components under chrome://components/ but there are none. Maybe, you simply delete or rename the complete screen_ai sub folder and use the command line flag --disable-component-update for the next browser start.. It might be necessary to de-register the chrome_screen_ai.dll file, too. I can't say whether this will help you, but you could give it a try.

  28. I know these command line flags. Personally, I use the extension Animation Policy in Thorium. By using this extension, you are able to exactly adjust via a toolbar popup how the animations are supposed to be handled by the browser. Thus, the user has the possibility to let an animation play or stop from inside Thorium at any time without editing the flags and restarting the browser.

  29. After some tests, I would even say that the loading behaviour of different websites also has been improved by the updated Chrome XP API Adapter. More test are necessary, of course.

  30. As already reported in the Supermium thread by @rereser, a new progwrp.dll file was released for Supermium. This file is the Chrome XP API Adapter and is supposed to be compatible with Thorium. Therefore, I replaced the old version 1.1.0.5002 by the new version 1.2.0.5035. The file size from version 1.1.0.5002 to 1.2.0.5035 has been significantly reduced by an incredible 82%. In any case, I can confirm that now the browser start is much faster and smoother than before. I think this is a great improvement.

  31. Interesting! While all browsers support image formats like JPEG, PNG, and GIF, Accept tells in this case that the browser also supports WebP and APNG. Using this information, we can negotiate the best image types for each browser: <?php // Check Accept for an "image/webp" substring. $webp = stristr($_SERVER["HTTP_ACCEPT"], "image/webp") !== false ? true : false; // Set the image URL based on the browser's WebP support status. $imageFile = $webp ? "whats-up.webp" : "whats-up.jpg"; ?> <img src="<?php echo($imageFile); ?>" alt="I'm an image!"> More info: https://web.dev/articles/performance-optimizing-content-efficiency-client-hints

  34. Again, please stop with getting personal, please stop with the thread derailment, I you want to discuss uBlock and its tweaks, do it in another thread. Please stop with provocations, I'm not going to fight with you, despite you giving me names. I'm here only for what this forum is supposed to be. I decide for myself whether I want to ignore you posts, especially if they are erroneous, misleading, etc.

  35. I didn't leave this conversation, so it is utterly rude to refer to me as "he" in my presence. Making assumptions regarding my knowledge is flagrantly rude, too. Implying I can't read or "does not have the knowledge to understand" is simply unacceptable, I fail to guess why are you still allowed to do that. I don't understand your generally hostile attitude on the website. Despite the fact we (D.Draker and I) already explained it to you many times, provided with scientific proof, we ,of course, did it in a very polite form. (link 1), (link 2) Yet you continue to aggressively argue, post off-topic and derail the thread with non-related matters, unspeakable behaviour and disrespect.

  36. You're very welcome to not reply, I'm just pointing out to the facts and your gross exaggerations, like "all experts". So no articles with "all security experts" voting for uBo to fight WebP then? Btw, you didn't even fulfil any of my "useless" requests. Raymond Hill is the author of uBlock, he can't be considered as an expert with independent views. I don't have anything against uBlock in particular, it's just the fact - in this case uBlock can't do anything to WebP at all, so it's not only off-topic, it's called misleading people. Again, I'm pointing out to the facts, no need to be rude. I suggest you stick to the facts, too, and please watch your behaviour. So far, you aren't giving me anything to "study" on. Most importantly - Raymond Hill never claimed uBlock can defeat WebP, if you still insist he did, please give an article.

  37. No, I asked about "all security experts article", as you claimed before. Sven Taylor is an (editor) of an "advocacy group". It doesn't say he's an expert, nowhere near. In the provided article he simply accuses all browsers of data colllecting, then jumps to suggestions to buy paid VPV services. Not a word about WebP Virus. Claiming Brave as "The most secure and private browser" is especially funny. Super generic, commercially driven article, can't be any simpler. Where did you find "expert opinions" about uBlock in that article? He simply writes "uBlock Origin – is one of the best.." That's it?
