In general, it's always a good idea not to make too many changes at once when it comes to software development. You don't want to end up like Mozilla, which breaks compatibility almost with every release. @feodor2 Here is my wish for Christmas: Please, recheck your changes and revert those which break compatibility! None of your previous releases caused any breakages to UC.JS scripts, CSS stylesheets, extensions or custom buttons. There was only one breakage in terms of language packs in the past. But all other things worked in every of your releases. Do not follow Mozilla's way of destruction!4 points

Just for clarification. I did not and do not have any problem with closing tabs or memory consumption. I use Mypal 68.14.4b in multiprocess mode with rebased DLL files. I set up my profile perfectly. In the background, a custom button is minimising memory every 10 minutes and tabs can be completely discarded at any time, either automatically or manually. I replaced many extensions by self-created or modified custom buttons and UC.JS scripts. I am not a tab horder, so I do not have any problems with memory management although my Windows XP machine is equipped with a single core CPU and only 1.5 GB SD-RAM. All is working fine , only some websites do not work anymore due to bloated, modern layouts. Greetings from Google and their frameworks, webkits & co! These websites are fodder for my Android (Google ) tablet.3 points

After all my tests and changes I made with UC.JS scripts, CSS stylesheets, custom buttons and extensions, the best and most stable version for me is Mypal 68.14.4b.3 points

I'm soon gonna be buying a similar notebook, what you guys suggest? I prefer Fujitsu. For which OS? Ideally, Vista, even the 32bit would suffice, as we know about the bug with after Haswell and Vista 64. Need a model with a similar card as the OP. With the ability to switch off Intel GPU via BIOS. Thanks.3 points

I tried, but not the Ryzen, I tried nVidia, they worked, but no Aero effect, and very glitchy, unstable. Besides, you'll have problems with signing because it requires edits to .sys file.2 points

Installed , didn't help, all the same . Also added VCRedist from 2005 to 2015 x86 and x 64. Perhaps redirection is a no go ?2 points

Hi! I'm back to MSFN after a very long absence. It's nice to see the Win9x section is still here. I finally have a new (but old) PC that is Win98-compatible and I tried to make it work, but I'm a little rusty after using Win7 and 10 for so long. I need some help. Everyone knows that installing a clean Win98 isn't the most pleasurable experience, especially adding patches, fixes, tweaks, installing programs, configuring everything, etc. I remember it took 2 days to do a full reinstall. So, when I was using Win98 as my main OS, to avoid a full reinstall, I saved a fresh Win98, patched, tweaked and with all my usual programs installed and configured, packed as DriveSpace volume and stored on a CD. When I need a reinstall, I would delete the old DriveSpece volume and restore the saved one from the CD. Unlike WinXP, in Win98 this restore method also worked after major hardware changes, such as replacing the entire computer: I would first boot in Safe Mode, empty the Device Manager except for ACPI, and then reboot in normal mode. After reboot, Win98 would detect all the devices again on the new machine and everything would work as if it was originally installed there. I did this dozens of times and I had no problems. I still have that saved Win98 volume and I tried to use it on this new machine. But this time it didn't work as expected. I have a very weird problem: There are no sound devices available in Control Panel / Multimedia. The Output and Input selection boxes are grayed out, as if no sound cards are installed, but the sound card is OK in Device Manager and the mixer, wave out and FM synth are visible in Multimedia / Advanced tab. I tried with a different card - same problem. Any ideeas what could cause this and how to fix it? I would like to avoid doing a fresh install. Thanks.1 point

I don't think there is progress because the threads I found were from 2016. It was found to be possible then by Philipl from nVidia, but there was no interest putting it into MPC-HC. Something was done in ffmpeg, but I think that doesn't apply to us. I think 10-bit exists because during mixing and prediction of successive frames error accumulates, and the bottom 1 or 2 bits are not accurate anymore. So instead of losing bit 8, we lose bit 10, which is much smaller. DVD MPEG-2 video was also partially 10-bit, I think only in the DC coefficient, but don't quote me on that. This is why you didn't see banding on DVD, but the banding appeared in H.264 DVDrip, which was only 8-bit. If you boost a dark JPEG with curves, you can also find that the bottom 0..2 levels are blocky at maximum quality. Regardless of the reasons, 10-bit exists for quality encodes, and we should ideally be able to watch it.1 point

Fully supported. I was using it on my Windows 8.1 laptop until a few weeks ago, when I installed Windows 10. I did find, with a clean installation, that I had to install the Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ first before installing Waterfox.1 point

If Tweaks do only these simple thing, it should be easy to debug.. I expected that is much bigger package, or even whole SP3.. Because them i did some networking change i saw that source of files which were autocopied so SP3.cab. Its long time when i last time fiddle with SP3, is there some way how to install/ uinstall just these tweaks alone? We can exclude icons, first row. I dunno what second row does. Third row is a swap, small change. Only if some part of networking driver would be somehow swapped and driver does not expecting that.. I would bet on 4th line, if Network cards are using DMA, im not sure.. I know that videocards and soucards are using DMA, probably even some TV and Capture cards, but im not sure about NICs, i never saw some DMA settings for them, maybe drivers just do it. I there is some PCI Bus driver which are interacting with NIC and using DMA..1 point

@AstroSkipper I think the memory problem with the closing tabs in v68.14.4b is a bigger problem for normal users that don't use any Addons. It would had been better to release more smaller versions with one task fixed before moving on to the next one.1 point

Hi, just to report that the LAST version of ghostscrip in XP is 9.54 (only after applying the two exes and dll xompie treatment- maybe PAE is enough, I didn't check). I haven't tested it thoroughly, but enough to see that it woks far better than the previous GS version I had (9.16) loading content within irfaview. . Cheers! https://github.com/ArtifexSoftware/ghostpdl-downloads/releases/download/gs9540/ghostxps-9.54.0-win32.zip1 point

The Custom Buttons extension worked fine in Mypal 68 from the very first release until the previous version 68.14.4b. @feodor2 also has this extension available and can certainly test what's going on. In any case, he has made significant changes. The menu bar is also affected and no longer behaves as it did before. This may also be one of the reasons why some of my CSS stylesheets no longer work. Same applies to the Add-ons Manager. P.S.: @feodor2 And FYI, I also tried xiaoxiaoflood's method you recently pointed to and installed the boostrapped version of Custom Buttons (this extension always comes in two different versions). In this case, the extension options appears again in the Add-ons Manager (no error in the Browser Console in terms of the boostrap.js file) but when installing custom buttons, none of them are available. Although they are listed under the entry Custom Buttons in the Add-ons Manager, they are simply not accessible and their tool bar icons missing in the Customize window. Same to the Custom Buttons menu in the main toolbar. As you may know, Custom Buttons is an extension that also runs in newer Firefox versions up to the very latest. BTW, all was tested by me in a clean, fresh profile. If you need all the no longer working stuff, please let me know. I will then upload it for you. P.S.2: Furthermore, new errors can be found in the Browser Console compared with your previous release, even when opening the about:preferences page. Since you haven't been around here since 27. October, and the bugs are plentiful and serious, I even jumped over my shadow and reported it to your issues on GitHub to make sure you were aware of the problems with your new release.1 point

The last months, I have deepened my knowledge about JavaScript and CSS. In the case of the Process Mode Toggler custom button, one might think that it only toggles the browser.tabs.remote.autostart preference. However, this is not the case. Besides toggling this preference, my custom button displays the current process mode via toolbar icon and tooltip. It doesn't matter whether the button was used for toggling the process mode or not. It always recognises the correct mode. The process mode change is linked to a restart of the browser which is of course necessary for running the browser in the new mode. Additionally, it also adjusts two other prefs that are related to the respective process mode: dom.ipc.processCount and dom.ipc.processCount.webLargeAllocation. Their values can be preset for the respective process mode in the first lines of the button code. So, this custom button is very special and rather unique. In any case, one thing is clear. Webextensions are much more restricted and not allowed to control such features what in contrast UC.JS scripts and legacy custom buttons can easily do, though.1 point

The words of many people who don't recommend disabling the swap file are so similar that they seem to be reciting the same source and each other. When swap is needed because memory is not enough, make a dedicated swap partition at the start of a disk where speeds are higher. I don't understand where the logic comes from that the swap file needs to be equal or bigger than memory. If I have 20 GB of RAM, I don't want at any point in time to write 20 gigs to the disk in a random fashion.1 point

I don't trust they will be good, if work at all. From my long experience with nVidia drivers, those generic ones from nVidia site totally suck. One would need to use OEM drivers to get the best, besides I got a recent example. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186395-3d-video-card-not-working-windows-7-sp1-x64/1 point

Yeah, but the OP asked about 3050ti, 3060ti, 3070ti and 3080ti laptop gpu driver.1 point

People say what nVidia declares on their site is not true. "RTX 3060 will work under W7 but newest RTX 3050 will not." (despite what nVidia claims) https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/nvidias-rtx-drivers-support-windows-7-but-blacklist-8-1-install.293507/post-47300811 point

I suppose you did it through the Device manager? Cause if no, the nVidia install makes the lock.1 point

Yes, 3070-3080 would be more future proof, besides having the drivers.1 point

sure, they're in my tree now. with some preliminary testing (i.e. stackoverflow) it seems to be working. nullish coalescing is still not in any UXP tree so have to wait.1 point

just noticed UXP contributor is working on opt-chaining syntax: https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP/issues/1658#issuecomment-298981 point

Yay, more incompatibilities (Stack Exchange sites, Tumblr...). I tried transpiling that MSFN service worker, it still didn't work. I've held on for a very long time, but even from my POV, this ship has sunk unless the developers behind these browsers step it up. Until then, as Agent Smith would say: Late edit: Seems inline (in HTML) incompatible JS might be only on some Stack Exchange's sites, at least on Stack Overflow for now.1 point

for unknown reason, error comes from rev https://github.com/roytam1/basilisk55/commit/8f9b9f72500e3668163a48f76ce4ad0fde0ec0c4 , tested by git bisect maybe I should backout this mozbug as a whole. and yeah there is new javascript syntax in: Error: SyntaxError: expected property name, got '...' Source File: https://msfn.org/board/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=serviceworker&v=44de18fa441651092834&type=front&loggedIn=false Line: 122 : // Tagged notifications require some additional data options = { ...options, tag, renotify: true, // Required, otherwise browsers won't renotify for this tag data: { ...options.data, unseenCount: 1, }, };1 point

And in my , worked . But with DXVA files , not related to this project. By the way , check your inbox.1 point

I've searched this error , some say it is related to VCRedist 2008 absence , strange , I have them both - x86 and x 64. I wasn't going to use that old chrome , anyway.1 point

Hello , I've finished testing this one from your link , well ... no luck . First off , I had your old files from the video , with them nothing happens , just silence. Then a kind soul provided me with the newest ones and this chromium 72 started to show only one error "This application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b).Click OK to terminate." I have bare SP2 , but I installed some updates , just in case . Platform update , DX11 , Framework 4.5.2 , the same error happens.1 point
