Unfortunately, the very, very old version Comodo Firewall 2.4 from 2007 does not offer all features in comparison with Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP from 2016. For example, it lacks IP6 support. This feature was only introduced starting with the version Comodo Firewall 5.3.174622.1216 from 2011. That means Comodo Firewall 2.4 is only an option for those users whose internet provider does not offer or does not use the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6). For better overview, I have updated my article about Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP in terms of offered features, download links and screenshots.3 points

I have no use for a "patch". I can fake Client Hints via PROXOMITRON - the Swiss Army Knife of the internet that seems to be "over the head" and "too complicated" for most MSFN members.2 points

After installing Office 2003 PRO sp3 on WinXP, Microsoft Update gave me 30 updates, sorted according to the installation order from Microsoft Update: 1. KB907417 (OTKLOADR) 2. KB943973 (works632) 3. KB955439 (snapview)* 4. KB947319 (owc10 & owc11) 5. KB974554 (fm20) 6. KB975051 (msconv)* 7. KB978551 (irmprtidnminus1) 8. KB980923 (infopath) 9. KB980373 (outlook) 10. KB981716 (accwiz & msaccess) 11. KB2288613 (usp10) 12. KB2293428 (olkintl)* 13. KB2289163 (gpfilt)* 14. KB2449798 (outlook) 15. KB2535812 (powerpnt) 16. KB2539581 (riched20) 17. KB2493523 (mfc11) 18. KB2687626 (vbe6) 19. KB2726929 (mscomctl) 20. KB2760574 (msxml5) 21. KB2817480 (gdiplus) 22. KB2817474 (mso) 23. KB2825621 (frontpg) 24. KB2810048 (excel) 25. KB2760494 (msconv)* 26. KB2850047 (gdiplus) 27. KB2863822 (outlfltr) 28. KB2878299 (mspub) 29. KB2878303 (winword) 30. KB3203484 (gdiplus) The KB with * are language specific, the others are global. I think that: 14. KB2449798 (outlook) replaces 9. KB980373 30. KB3203484 (gdiplus) replaces 26. KB2850047 and 21. KB2817480 25. KB2760494 (msconv) replaces 6. KB975051 but I am not sure 100%. Then looking in Microsoft Update Catalog I found the following 4 new (global) updates: 31. KB4011134 (gdiplus) (9/13/2017) 32. KB4011125 (usp10) (9/13/2017) 33. KB4092464 (gdiplus) (10/4/2018) 34. KB4462154 (mso) (2/7/2019) According to the Microsoft Update Catalog, 31. KB4011134 (gdiplus) replaces 30. KB3203484. Still according to Microsoft, these 4 new updates require that we have Service Pack 3 for Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 installed. Something that is not true in practice, because I installed them without Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 on my system. All the above files (English and Greek) I made a pack that you can download. In the pack I have added the Microsoft Office Hotfix Installer (ohotfix), as well as a .pdf file with instructions for using it. In addition to double-clicking, there are two better ways to install the updates: 1. Live Installation - In a live installation, rename the ohotfix_live.ini file to ohotfix.ini. - Run ohotfix.exe (as administrator). - Ohotfix will install as many updates as needed. - It does not matter if we have the PRO or the Standard version installed on our system. - You can see the ohothix log in %temp%\ohotfix. - If you run Microsoft Update before July 19, 2019, the above 1-30 updates will not reappear. 2. Administrative Installation - Create an Administrative Installation Point with setup /a. - Open with notepad ohotfix_admin.ini and correct the line AdminPath= For example: AdminPath=C:\OfficeAdmin\PRO11.msi or AdminPath=C:\OfficeAdmin\STD11.msi - Rename ohotfix_admin.ini to ohotfix.ini. - Run ohotfix.exe (as administrator). - After a while, you'll have a administrative installation point fully up to date. - You can see the ohothix log in %temp%\ohotfix. If you run Microsoft Update before July 19, 2019, the above 1-30 updates will reappear. Of course, after 19 July 2019 this will not matter. To satisfy Microsoft Update, you have to create and merge the correct .reg file. Unfortunately there is no .reg file for all versions of Office 2003. For example, another .reg file is required for the Standard and another for the PRO version. Also another .reg file is required for the English and another for the Greek or other language. In the pack I have .reg files for the Standard and PRO version for English and Greek language. Office File Validation Add-in In the pack I have added the Office File Validation Add-in (KB2501584) as well as the two required updates KB2553065 and KB2881030. These can not be integrated in an Administrative Installation Point. Just run them in the right order. APDATA Finally, in the pack there is the KB2543854 that contains the APDATA.msp file. KB2543854 is displayed on Microsoft Update on Seven or Win10 (not in WinXP) and according to Microsoft: This update decreases installation failures for updates installed on Microsoft Office 2003. I do not think that can be integrated in an Administrative Installation Point. Thorium is reacting identically to Ungoogled Chromium as far as my banking login web site. Though it is off by ONE release. In Ungoogled, I had to increment upward in versions from v94 and increment all the way up to v122 before I could log in (with the BS banner about my browser being outdated blah blah blah crap). It is the v122 that misled me into thinking it was Client Hints (I disable in v94 through v121, I had to resort to Proxomitron for v122). Thorium will not let me log in on v97, v114, and v119. But does let me log in on v121 - so one version prior to Ungoogle v122 successful login. Ungoogled will NOT let me log in on v126 (with or without Client Hints disabled). Thorium does not have a v126 yet. Did not try Thorium v122, v123, or v124.1 point

Yes I see that now as just upgraded. It does look like @Tihiy fixed my issue with Run as different user though!1 point

"Bite me". I don't see "admin" next to your name, as the infamous saying goes around here. The other post you posted within minutes of the one above has ZERO to do with THAT thread. But no, I will not start trolling you around and citing "stay on topic" like you seem to be doing here. The "Thorium" discussion evolved into Client Hints (and a banking site login). But sure, "fair enough", I shall test in THORIUM. Eventually...1 point

What works or doesn't work in Ungoogled isn't relevant, and has no relation to Supermium of Thorium. Supermium of Thorium aren't Ungoogled, therefore they function differently. Does your site work in Thorium? Edit. It (*the site) may try to invoke google services.1 point

The classic taskbar is removed in Dev... it's only a matter of time until that trickles into release preview and then retail. My advice is stay on 23H2 or use T2.1 point

Do download latest version from the link. If not booting, run 'startisbackcfg /uninstall' or 'appwiz.cpl' to uninstall Crash dumps would help. 1) Import this registry key http://startisback.com/Enable_Crash_Reports.reg 2) Create C:\dumps folder 3) Crash 4) Send me dmp file from C:\dumps folder1 point

Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184 Comodo Firewall Pro has an easy to use and intuitive GUI which is suitable for both advanced and novice users. The selection of wizards make sure novice users will face no difficulties in managing vital security configurations. Advanced users and experts can fine tune Comodo Firewall Pro using its extensive configuration options. Comodo Firewall Pro is now freeware (it comes with lifetime free license on installation itself) and, of course, fully compatible with Windows XP. Features (listed in the manual): Network Protection: Comodo Firewall Pro, although designed for personal use, includes an industrial strength stateful inspection firewall, acting at OSI Layers 2, 3 and 4 to filter incoming and outgoing network traffic. Such an advanced filter keeps track of each and every packet sent/received and performs intelligent analysis on critical protocols such as TCP, UDP, FTP etc. Comodo Firewall Pro also detects and prevents DOS/DDOS attacks including: • SYN/UDP/ICMP Floods, • TCP/UDP Port Scans, Upon facing such an intrusive attack, it switches to an emergency mode by creating some automatic rules and updating its internal states according to the attack behavior, to secure the host against it until the attack ceases. Users will not notice such a change in terms of functionality but will remain protected. Quick Features: • Advanced TCP/UDP/ICMP and IP protocol filtering • IP fragmentation handling • DOS/DDOS resistance and handling • Stateful TCP/UDP Protocol Inspection Application Protection: Although the network protection is adequate to defeat the most of the network based attacks, today’s threats require highly sophisticated application based access filtering mechanisms to enforce true host based security policies. Comodo Firewall Pro provides a powerful application firewall which is one of the best application filters available in the market. Restricting network traffic according to the application which generates it, requires filtering at OSI Layers 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Application Filtering: Comodo Firewall Pro provides full control on applications’ networking behaviors. Application firewall can: • Limit applications network access characteristics such as port, protocol and host. • Give users the ability to control number of connections per minute an application can create. Leak Resistance: Unfortunately, malware programs are evolving rapidly. Many of such programs employ very advanced techniques to conceal their malicious activities so that they easily bypass the standard protection mechanism provided by the most personal firewalls. These techniques are commonly known as “leak” techniques. Comodo Firewall Pro passed ALL LEAK TESTS with an outstanding success rate not seen in any other firewalls available. Although passing the known leak tests are often enough to provide you a robust protection, Trojans do not have to limit themselves to these known techniques and they always try to find new ones to cheat the protection mechanism you have. Due to this fact, Comodo developers constantly research to improve our firewall to keep you protected at all times against emerging and unknown threats. Benefits quoted from the homepage: Constantly monitors and defends your PC from internet attacks Free maintenance upgrades Gain complete control over which programs are allowed internet access Stay protected against new threats via automatic online updates Real time traffic monitoring enables you to react instantly to threats and identify bandwidth bottlenecks. Easy to use interface and quick setup No license fee - complete protection at no cost for networks and home users Version history/Release notes: Homepage: https://web.archive.org/web/20070215084752/http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ Version number: 2.4.18.184 Date of release: 14.02.2007 System requirements: Windows 2000, Windows XP Reviews and tests: https://web.archive.org/web/20070301011725/http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0%2C1895%2C1969515%2C00.asp https://web.archive.org/web/20070228161335/http://www.matousec.com/projects/windows-personal-firewall-analysis/leak-tests-results.php https://www.comodo.com/news/press_releases/31-05-07/ Download links: https://web.archive.org/web/20070806133356/http://us2.download.comodo.com/cpf/download/setups/release/CFP_Setup_English_2.4.18.184.exe https://www.filesoul.com/software/Comodo-Internet-Security/Comodo-Firewall-2-4-18-184/ Manual: https://personalfirewall.comodo.com/Comodo_Firewall_Pro_2.4_User_Guide.pdf Screenshots: Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184 is a very old firewall from 2007. It surely was a good firewall at that time. And maybe, it is even today. A very positive point is that this version is totally unbloated, though. The installer size (English version) is only round about 5 MB. This Comodo Firewall version was very often recommended by users, but it unfortunately lacks modern features as, for example, IP6 support. This feature was only introduced starting with the version Comodo Firewall 5.3.174622.1216 from 2011. That means Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184 is only an option for those users whose internet provider does not offer or does not use the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6). Due to its age, the potential users should carefully test this version in their Windows XP system whether it is still properly working even in these days as no one here reported any detailed test results or current experiences in using it. And as already explained in previous posts, I couldn't test this version, and I won't do it either. Personally, I think this firewall could still be an option in these days, but exclusively for the users of the Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4). If anyone needs the German version of Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184, please post the request here in the thread! Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

LOL, I wrote about it a month ago. Unfortunately, my 2009 PC is beginning to feel exhausted. Starting Thorium/Supermium (or any other Chrome) newer than 122 feels heavy.1 point

If you had read my post carefully, you would have noticed that I didn't say that this behaviour seems to be "unique" to my referenced Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP. I also used Comodo Firewall in the past. It was and is certainly still a good firewall but Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP did all I needed better in a more comfortable way and very low on consuming resources. It's as simple as that. BTW, I will write an article about the standalone Comodo Firewall soon. But testing it in these days must be left to others, as I have already explained in one of my last posts.1 point

Not necessarily. The Comodo Firewall 8.4.0.5165 was indeed reported as the last error-free version when it comes to the pure firewall. The version 12.0.0.6818 was reported as the last error-free, XP-compatible release of Comodo Antivirus, though. But tests are still necessary to see how these versions behave under Windows XP today.1 point

Thank you once again for the upload! I was already aware of all important and useful command line options for the MSI files from here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/143810-comodo-internet-security-4/?do=findComment&comment=922021 Actually, I was looking for the file cispremium_only_installer.exe in the version 10.2.0.6514. Regarding the x86 and x64 MSI files, they can even be downloaded from the Comodo servers in these days. The cispremium_only_installer.exe in the version 10.2.0.6526 was archived and is available via the Wayback Machine. The Comodo Cleanup tools have already been downloaded by me for a complete uninstall if necessary. But in any case, thanks for your efforts!1 point

I think the OP would want you to try uBlock Lite MV3 or Adguard and see if they do block all. I'll pass, I'm not trying adGuard on my PC due to the risks associated with the country it comes from. And regarding uBlock Lite, I simply see no need for it,1 point

From my humble 30 years experience with browsers, one's gotta try several versions released in the timeframe of about 3 months back and forth of the given browser version release.1 point

Thank you very much for the upload! And don't be worried, I won't ask you where you found it! @genieautravail Are there other installer versions available from your source? There is one other version I am also interested in, It is the file cispremium_only_installer.exe in the version 10.2.0.6514. Only if it doesn’t cause any trouble, of course. And only if you are not at work.1 point

I wouldn't rely only on one site to test that "feature". Client Hints have been main stream since as early as January 2020. Before saying I'm "wrong", how then you'd explain the site works perfectly fine on Windows 10 and old UA?1 point

"Chrome developers disabled Canvas HW Accel for XP (the artcile is about 12 years old!), it calls Direct3DCreate9Ex from d3d9.dll which is DirectX 9L available only on Vista+, but it is possible to wrap D3D9Ex on Windows XP via WineD3D Direct3D to OpenGL wrapper. No, you confuse RTM with OEM. The ones that sold with computers are OEM. Look on their stickers. RTM can be freely purchased on a DVD,1 point

Not from my experience, I agree with Klemper, I once had Win7 updated itself, even with the update service unchecked via the system configuration! The only way is to prevent it from starting via services. (choose disabled at startup). Startup type = disabled.1 point
