You're right. It is not the install.rdf file. The string uBlock Origin Legacy inside this file is what is shown in the Add-ons Manager. Anyway! There are a couple of files which have to be modified, and it is more complicated as I originally thought. gorhill has created a very special, atypical and complex extension. Due to my experiences that very bad things can happen if modifying important or sensible files inside the uBlock Origin xpi file, I won't provide details about my way of modification. Please understand that! The consequence would be in the end that everyone would change something, and nothing would work afterwards. And then I have to listen to things here or elsewhere that weren't my fault. I'm not in the mood for that at all. In contrast, I definitely know what I'm doing. It's as simple as that. However, one thing is clear. Anyone can view the code of this extension themselves. It is open code and readable. Anyone with a little more in-depth knowledge knows how to identify the changes. Unfortunately, my installation of New Moon 28 was indeed corrupted and showed again the issues I mentioned in my previous posts. Thus, I made a fresh install, injected the fix and now, it is working like a charm. Thanks again for pointing me to this commit!

Friend, it's a bit unfair to compare 86 to 121 version, but overall I agree with you, it could be less RAM hungry. Actually, I remember I liked 117 much better for the faster startup.

Maybe win32 meant to just open the browser, not to actually run it with 1 page. To me, the number of 768 is strange by itself. A standard DDR2 module is 2GB, a smaller one is 1GB, smallest DDR3 is 2GB. If by 768MB he meant 3x256Mb of SDRAM modules, they are ancient history from 2000.

As said, if they are vhd(x) you can check them, I don't think it is the container (be it the 2 or 3 TB disk or the vhd), but rather the contents, but of course everything is possible. Anyway, glad that you managed to mostly solve the problem . jaclaz

About the colours, both browsers are on the same PC and monitor (Eizo) and the issue manifests itself on both real hardware (Pale Moon) and in a VM (New Moon). But I just realized that I was testing all this in a clean profile and after changing the font settings to use Noto Sans everywhere, the flags are now displayed as they should be.

Hello @roytam1! I am running your latest version of New Moon 28 installed from the file palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20240127-d849524bd-uxp-35252384aa-xpmod.7z. When opening the Browser Console (Ctrl + Shift + J) and closing then, it will open automatically every time you start the browser again. I have tried everything possible, but this stupid Browser Console now has a life of its own. That seems to me to be an issue that wasn't there before. I noticed this issue in my dirty profile but even in a clean profile, the same issue happens. Maybe, you can reproduce and hopefully fix it.

Looks like a Chromium with typical limitations like the older variants. Guess it's good to pay the bills if your whatever-provider's site sucks so badly. No need for polyfills. Also why is only Google on the built-in search engine list? It did crash on first startup on my XP x64 (only tried 32-bit version), but afterwards it was OK. OS is not updated beyond 2011/2012, except an odd crypt32.dll update from 2015. Laggy transitions/animations on websites, eg. changing pages on this forum, laggy videos (also doesn't prevent screen turning off during playback) etc. So CPU struggles while GPU has nothing to do. I see people being hyped up about Win2K support and what not, but, why? There's a charm in small footprint of period correct applications. Why would you want that monstrosity there? 32-bit chrome.dll is almost two hundred f***in' megabytes! 64-bit is obviously already beyond that. I don't know, maybe I'm just too old to "dig" today's kids' crazy ideas. PS.: Not this crap with the fonts again!

That's not what it was. Scientific Approach has to eliminate ONE variable at a time. That was the ONE variable that OTHERS needed to chime in on once it was introduced AS a variable. Supermium DOES work for OTHERS that have PosReady, so NOW we can eliminate that variable.

You can probably get rid of dxva2.dll as well. From the version numbers, evr.dll included here is older (6.0.6002.18005) than the one I got (6.0.6002.18084), the latter is stable in that regard. Wonder why was Vista's evr.dll mixed with 7's dxva2.dll. Is there anything to gain from extra functions it has in XP environment? The only useful obvious addition is DXVA-HD. However that plug-in software processor may look like.

Hardware acceleration of 10bit HEVC {H265} is not available throughout the whole 700 series, except 750SE, a super budget, rare and outdated card. It's been explained here. As for 8bit HEVC, no one uses it anymore for encoding, no one, so nothing to play. I actually tried an old film encoded in H265 Main 8, it's choppy with this player.

This is just a technicality, but youtube-dl NEVER "officially" dropped Windows XP SP3 support; the python script itself, to this day, remains compatible even with such an old CPython version as py2.6 and py3.2 (!), though, for best results under XP, CPython 2.7.18 (EoS for that OS) and CPython 3.4.10 (EoS for that OS) should be used... The provided, standalone, Windows executable youtube-dl.exe, has been historically compiled with the py2exe Python module and comes bundled with CPython 3.4.4 32-bit (WinXP SP3, SSE+ compatible). uBlock Origin Legacy - A special mod by AstroSkipper As I already wrote in my article uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 - Special mod by @AstroSkipper, uBlock Origin is presumably one of the most important extensions if not the most important one for users of Firefox and Chrome based browsers. Unfortunately, this extension is now only developed and maintained as a webextension. The extension uBlock Origin for our old Firefox-based browsers like Pale Moon, New Moon, Basilisk, Serpent and so on was only maintained and updated separately for a certain period of time. There have been no new updates since version 1.16.4.30, officially released by gorhill in 2021. I am maintaining here the last beta version 1.16.4.31b2 from April 2022, which unfortunately has not been further developed since then. This beta worked great in the past , and I therefore think the time has come to end its beta state. I made a couple of changes to this version and created the final release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31. Finally, an important recommendation to get the new installation of uBlock Origin Legacy working properly and flawlessly. Do not update your existing installation of uBlock Origin by installing on top if you have installed version 1.16.4.33 or lower! This will not work correctly. After uninstalling the previous version (yes, the old version has to be uninstalled ), delete all remnants via about:config and in your profile folder! The remnants of previous versions of uBlock Origin can either be easily removed by the extension eCleaner or of course manually. And in your profile folder, there is a file in the subfolder extension-data called ublock0.sqlite which has to be removed manually in any case. Delete the browser cache, too! If doing so, the updating of the filter lists will work like a charm after installing the new version. All users who have important, individual settings or rules should backup them before uninstalling the extension and cleaning their profile folder. On the dashboard page, there is an item called "Back up to file"" to save all user's settings via uBlock itself. If you only want to backup your custom filters, custom rules or trusted sites, go to the tabs "My filters", "My rules" or "Trusted sites" and export them respectively to a file! And if someone likes it even simpler,, here is the shortest way to update the installation of uBlock Origin Legacy properly: Backup all your settings using the "Back up to file" button on the page "Settings". Uninstall uBlock Origin Legacy and delete the ublock0.sqlite file in your profile subfolder extension-data. Restart the browser and install the new version of uBlock Origin Legacy. Restore all settings from your backup file. Furthermore, I found an alternative way to update uBlock Origin Legacy when the user still decides to install over an existing installation: Backup all your settings using the "Back up to file" button on the page "Settings". Install the new version of uBlock Origin Legacy over the existing one. Reset your installation using the "Reset to default settings" button on the page "Settings". Restore all settings from your backup file. This alternative method can only be used for updates with the same extension ID, i.e. from version 1.16.4.32 and higher or from version 1.16.4.31 and lower. The reason for this is the change of the extension ID in version 1.16.4.32 I have performed. From version 1.16.4.34 and higher and only in this version range, installing over an already existing installation is possible again. See further above! But one thing is clear. A clean install is the best method that causes the fewest problems. In any case, we have from now on another uBlock Origin extension for our beloved legacy browsers with the most recent filter lists.
