In my country it's enough to just have a serial number of the unit (usually a sticker), I replaced items myself, no questions asked.5 points

Under €50? Hmmm... I've never got any troubles with the German Inter-Tech brand. This el-cheapo model works in my spare server PC 24/7 for 5 years. https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/p/905594584 points

On the other hand, even if you manage to replace, even the 750W model looks scary and cheap inside. Sorry for the article in a foreign language, seems the model is only for the Eastern countries' market. https://www.x-kom.pl/p/698743-zasilacz-do-komputera-fsp-fortron-hydro-k-pro-750w-80-plus-bronze.html4 points

If you're not capable of doing in-depth diagnostics, I'd say better get rid of it. It's simply not worth it. It's a high chance it has an overload somewhere due to poor manufacturing process, besides 500W PSU isn't something to die for. Or even waste your precious time.4 points

Add custom search engine With the extension Add custom search engine, you can create custom search engine entries for the search bar and the URL bar. Your custom search engine needs a name and search URL. Additionally, the user can determine an icon, a suggestion URL, POST query parameters, the input encoding and a description. Icons can be selected from your local computer or specified as an URL pointing to an image. The extension UI is accessible via a button right next to the URL/search bar or the options in the Add-ons Manager. Tested version: 4.2 Here is a screenshot: Download link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-custom-search-engine/ The extension Add custom search engine is one of those I mentioned in my previous article Managing search engines in Mypal 68. I tested this extension by creating a custom search engine and adding it to Mypal 68. It worked without any problems.3 points

Update notification A new beta version of Mypal 68 has been released, Mypal 68.13.5b. Download link: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/releases/download/68.13.5b/mypal-68.13.5.en-US.win32.zip Cheers, AstroSkipper3 points

Complete or incomplete, it doesn't distort what you said. You've never used Kaspersky yourself, you stay on the safe side, you won't use it, hence you have no moral obligation to do it, yet you obsessively promote it on MSFN. The insane intensity and the style clearly point out to the commercial roots of your promotions.2 points

The U.S. federal government banned the use of Kaspersky software. By Mark Hachman, Senior Editor, PCWorld MAR 28, 2022 9:59 AM PDT Antimalware provider Kaspersky Lab has been blacklisted by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, adding its name alongside Huawei and ZTE as companies that are deemed a threat to national security. The FCC maintains a list of companies which are “deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to national security or the security and safety of United States persons,” and added Kaspersky to the list on Friday. Officially, the list now includes China Mobile International USA Inc., China Telecom (Americas) Corp, and AO Kaspersky Labs, as well as their subsidiaries. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr said in a statement that adding those companies to the list “will help secure our networks from threats posed by Chinese and Russian state backed entities.” If a company is on the restricted list, it can’t receive federal subsidies, Bloomberg reported. The U.S. federal government banned the use of Kaspersky software in federal information systems in 2017 because of concerns about Kaspersky’s links to the Russian government. Individual users may continue to use products blacklisted by the FCC if they choose to do so, however. Kaspersky does not appear in PCWorld’s list of the best antivirus programs for your PC but does appear in the current list of PCWorld’s best free antivirus programs for Windows. If you try to install Kaspersky’s free tools, Windows Defender may flag Kaspersky as dangerous. We encountered the issue in our testing, though it wasn’t clear why the issues occurred. Author: Mark Hachman, Senior Editor As PCWorld's senior editor, Mark focuses on Microsoft news and chip technology, among other beats. He has formerly written for PCMag, BYTE, Slashdot, eWEEK, and ReadWrite. https://www.pcworld.com/article/626854/kaspersky-blacklisted-as-a-risk-to-u-s-national-security.html1 point

I didn't know that starting a thread gave any particular privilege, I would say that a similar request would be granted or denied depending on its contents, not on who proposes it. jaclaz1 point

Don't you dare to behave like nothing happened! You seem to oftenly call us "family", so how come you didn't notice @Vistapocalypseinsulted @AstroSkipper's valuable work? https://msfn.org/board/topic/184271-us-blacklists-kaspersky-antivirus-as-an-unacceptable-risk-to-national-security/?do=findComment&comment=1254579Besides How come you didn't notice him calling other members paranoid? https://msfn.org/board/topic/184271-us-blacklists-kaspersky-antivirus-as-an-unacceptable-risk-to-national-security/?do=findComment&comment=1254874I I wonder for how long he will be allowed to do that?!1 point

Unbiased readers do not see it as pollution. THIS is why these sorts of "topics" are forbidden on most forums such as this.1 point

I, as the creator of this topic, kindly ask the moderators to cleanse it from the pollution and insults done by @Vistapocalypse Many thanx.1 point

Obviously we don’t wish to discuss the off topic matters, Obviously you don’t wish to discuss the Iranian AV suggested in another topic, why not? Or North Korean, maybe? Why such fixation on Russia/Russian?1 point
-
We can't be sure of that due to the fact you seem to not understand the topic's title written in plain and simple English which is not about "independent" labs, it's about the Kaspersky ban. Yet you shove down our throats the software from a country that has no freedom of speech and is a total surveillance state, the software that is made by the Russian paramilitaries.1 point

Could be more of a combination of a 64bit OS with this 32bit browser issue.1 point

Several years ago, when I used this browser, I also had this issue, but I fixed it with the famous --no-sandbox flag (which makes ones browser non-secure). The font issue is easy to reproduce here. https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/1 point

I think it was a bit unfair to chide and read the Riot Act to the poster on this. It was not easy to see the link that I put in and you could easily glance over it. I have edited my post in the previous page to make it more readable with a better link. Also, if you are running a monitor in high resolution, the font size on the forum pages is very small and hard to read. I'm running 2560 x 1440. Some weeks ago by accident, I looked at the top of the screen and saw this: The Customiser button: Larger font size for posts? This is so much better, and I can now cancel my appointment with the optometrist. :-)1 point

TBH, not really. The easiest and best method is to use, for example, @heinoganda's Certificate Updater or my most recent offline updater. You can get it here in the section 11.2.4. Downloads related to Root Certificate Updates. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

I see that you don't understand how Trimcheck works. First of all, you need to launch a program from a partition on an SSD/NVME disk that you want to test. If you run the program, e.g. from a pendrive, it doesn't make sense and nothing will test! the first launch of the program is created by the trimcheck.bin file (probably always 64MB with random data) copies the first 16 KB of data from the trimcheck.bin file to the .json text file in which he also saves data on the location of the trimcheck.bin file (offset e.g. 21018939392) removes the trimcheck.bin file from the disk and informs to do TRIM now now we are doing TRIM, e.g. in O&O now we run Trimcheck again from the same location as before (where the .json file was created) Trimcheck compares the data from the .json file with data in disk offset 21018939392 If there are only zeros there, it means that TRIM operation in O&O has worked, but if you are there, the same data from the .json file, it means that TRIM operation in O&O did not work In general, instead of using Trimcheck, you can check it manually: make or copy file (a few megabytes) on partition on NVMe disk in Hex Editor check location (offset or sector) this file - save this information somewhere e.g. Notepad or on a piece of paper delete file from disk use Shift key to not remove to Windows Recycle Bin run TRIM in O&O on partition where there was a deleted file run Hex Editor and check if starting from the sector you wrote on a piece of paper are only zeros If zeros - TRIM it worked If any data - TRIM it did not work1 point

I still have an article where the investigators confirmed Kaspersky is in close relations with FSB, it needs translation, and I have to look for it, so might take some time. Thank you for a very funny joke !!!!!!1 point

Mypal 68 is not a fully portable browser. It writes additionally entries in the registry, needs files in the folder c:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\Mypal68 to find its profiles and uses of course profile folders where ever you created them. To make this browser fully portable you have to make a research in the internet. There are many sites which provide detailed instructions or tutorials for creating fully portable applications.1 point

No , you will not - 'cause each new version brings more and more complicated crap , too complicated for someone who is not prepared to handle. We already had a "hero", who just ran away after he made only one version of chrome released, and it was based on my knowledge.1 point

Thank you, I'll try, update for CloseHandle, it crashed, unfortunately. After some time I could only get a white (hardware) cursor in the game. So i'll stay with my 1st variant for some time and see if works for more than several hours. With it I get occasional frame drops, but nothing awful.1 point

1 - Worked ! 2 - Very long (doesn't fit the old one) 3 - Query.. is very long and GerEnv. is not found in the kernel, and I can't change the imports. It's just too many of them to edit.1 point

@win32 hi, could you suggest a real replacement for these ? Just stubs don't work for this precise case. Thank you ! Hello, Zomba (grossly misspelled you with a couple of letters, lol), glad to hear from you ! There was a point of no return after 2001, when we silently agreed to the modern crappy state of things. Now it's too late, 'cause the jinn is out . All these"security" measures are a very good business. Look at how many "security agencies" and paramilitares are everywhere. It all brings good bucks.1 point

1 - Thanks, I know it because I tested myself on a GT1030 I bought because of him and wrote you about it. 2 - Icafe usually remove the "security" crap functions from the kernel, yes, 3 - Indeed they are ! I found them a long time ago . So I don't know why he can't launch any of these drivers. EDIT: Invite you to move the discussion back to my drivers .1 point

The US gov. does what has to be done, it gathers intel on our enemies. There is an exchange of info between NATO - it's public knowledge. I was on several missions based on the gathered intel on suckers, the intel was solid. EDIT: That being said, of course I'm against my phone being tapped. But then again, I was born here.1 point

1- Yes, indeed ! 2 - And you were/are right, 'cause looks we've got ourselves another Kaspersky. The creator surname is Pavlovski.1 point
