AIUI, that's the exact case ; Cryptograhy-41.0.0/Rust-1.56 doesn't work in Windows XP SP3, because it (probably) requires APIs/kernel functions not available under NT5.1 (due to Rust-1.56+ ); previous version, Cryptograhy-40.0.2/Rust-1.48, is the last one to work under XP SP3, but its official release requires the SSE2+ instructions set; since cmalex (re)compiles CPython itself and various Python modules from source (to make them compatible with his SSE-only older CPU), he can't produce the requested (updated) binaries on his current setup (he compiles stuff for) ... Hello, recently I started working on modifying DWM to customize Windows to my tastes, and this is what I've managed to get so far: I implemented all of this using Windhawk, but I might eventually move it all into its own program. The code is definitely not ready for release (buggy), plus it's still missing a few things that I'd like for an initial release. The blur implementation is also not the best, and I'd rather do it in a way closer to BigMuscle's, since this is based on Valinet's method, which considering was just quickly created to prove that blur is possible in 2004+, has its fair share issues. This can be seen as a proof of concept in a way, maybe a tech demo. For the buttons, I decided to rewrite both the functions that handle their positions and sizes in DWM, which gives me full control over the implementation. For example, I can modify this mod to make the buttons look the way they do in the Basic theme, Luna theme, even Classic theme, theoretically, all in DWM, meaning that there should be no compatibility issues with applications. You may have also noticed that the text is missing from the titlebars. That's due to the fact that in Windows 8.1 and 10, the titlebar text is rendered using GDI, and I'm still not sure how to make the background transparent (I've tried using SetBkMode but it didn't seem to do anything). I'll probably end up trying to render the text the same way Windows 7 does, as that's the OS whose look I'm trying to match. As for a release, I'm not sure when this will be ready. Could be this year, could be next year, it really depends on how much time I have on my hands, especially considering the project's current primitive state.

However, not all software is easy to find, thanks to lack of record keeping and lack of availability. There are quite a couple of software now considered "Lost Media" A couple of examples that I can think of are as follows: ThinkDesktop Screenmates - a series of desktop toys released in the 2000s and discontinued in the 2010s. Bonzi Software products - software products that were released in 1993 until 2004. Many of its programs are now lost due to the installers requiring the Bonzi Software servers to download the files. Their product catalog included Voice E-Mail, InternetALERT, InternetBOOST, BonziBuddy and MaxALERT. Do you know of any other software that are now "Lost Media"? Feel free to provide comments on this thread.

It almost goes without saying that Kaspersky is still a “top product,” but I note that the German government has still not pressured the lab into parroting any FUD about Kaspersky. It might be a little late to warn the original poster about how “harmful” Kaspersky supposedly is because he is already a paid Kaspersky user looking for a free alternative. Kaspersky 18 is still an option for XP, and probably 19 (but there is no official download link for a KFA 19 installer).

The reason I suggested to use CRT's iconsize attribute setting to large icons was that it might fix problems with other extensions in terms of correct toolbar icon sizes, too. In such cases, there would be no need to modify the affected extensions. The Photonic theme is unfortunately buggy. Therefore, you have to do a lot of trickery to correct any display errors of pop-up windows or anything else, as they do not actually occur when using the default theme. Actually, these extensions are working properly for themselves. I fear the truncated pop-up window of IP Geolocator can't be fixed easily. Using the Photonic theme, changes in IP Geolocator's file main.css are not really taken into account. Many settings are simply overwritten by this theme. I already tested that. I believe a proper fix can only be done to the Photonic theme by the author. Inside its xpi file, there are tons of css files. Trial and error would be a never-ending story. And TBH, I personally haven't used any themes at all for a long time, neither in New Moon nor in Serpent. Themes cause very often display errors sooner or later. At least, that's how it was for me.

And if we are being "truly fair", to anybody that is "concerned" with CVE reports - "why are you on Win7 then?" Shouldn't the "sky be falling" with all of the CVEs reported for Win7? Afterall, "Windows 7" has 1,412 CVE reports to "Windows 10" having "fewer" at 1,195 and to "Windows 11" having "only" 81. Heck, "Windows XP" only has 656. NONE of these stop MSFN Members from using Win7 or XP. Or Vista with their 737 CVE reports. I am not "for" or "against" Kaspersky! But come on, let's be a bit more "fair and unbiased" in our discussions. Our "whole universe" should NOT revolve around a CVE report from 2019. There are ways to REMOVE the "unique Product ID" if you guys truly WANTED to, but the reality is that you'd rather "talk it down" as opposed to seeking/discussing SOLUTIONS.

Hi again ; at first, I didn't want to further pursue "my" IP-Geolocator issues here, since this is, first and foremost, your own thread; I did bring that extension up, once in a post of mine , because it is the kind of extension with a similar target group like your fork "Check My IP Address & Location" ; then, after reading more closely the title of this thread, it states: Extensions and custom buttons for UXP browsers - Corrections, modifications, adjustments, and special recommendations so, since IP-Geolocator is indeed compatible with at least one UXP browser (St52 and/or St55) and it requires some "modification/adjustment" to suit my custom needs ,, I wasn't being completely off-topic, was I ? Joking aside, Yes, I made that realisation long ago myself ; this issue isn't, actually, exclusive to IP-Geolocator when the Photonic Complete Theme is being applied to St52; several other WebExtensions that I had tried in the past (and can't remember now off-hand ) manifested the same "huge-icon-when-placed-in-a-toolbar" issue ; all worked well with the default Australis St52 theme! To be fair, Photonic has been developed for either official Pale Moon and/or official Basilisk, none of which currently support add-ons of the WebExtension format; so, the theme's creator (Lootyhoof of MCP) never expected it to be used together with WEs ... OTOH, Australis comes with native support for Fx52-era WEs (and so do some other Complete Themes that originally supported Fx52, e.g. FT DeepDark v14.3), and this support has been inherited and kept in the default (Australis) theme of both St52/55... Yes, I also very much regret that many of the actually technically interested members of this forum are not very communicative, rather lazy about writing and also, in many cases, quite disrespectful. Many are masters in demanding contents, updates, ported versions and so on, but in terms of gratitude and feedback ... There is very often a lack of respect and appreciation for those who really provide technical contents or make their own work accessible to all. Such members often have no idea how much time and effort the creators have put into their work, topics and threads. Looking at my technically motivated threads, and they are all technical, it's more of a read, shut up and download thing. For the authors and creators of these threads, however, it's literally frustrating. Few comments, rarely a thank you, few reactions and feedback! But the authors live on these, as they do not earn money with it, of course. And, don't forget, if there were no such technical contents anymore, this forum would be spiritually impoverished in terms of technical contents and the original, actual sense of MSFN! 1- I'm pretty familiar with 90's style , no . 2 - I didn't change any settings at all . I think it happened after I reinstalled Nvidia drivers. And the nice bug happened when I was using RTM. I can't replicate this. Got some time to test again , I'm pretty convinced SP1 (RTM) runs faster , overall better . I can clearly see the desktop is crystal clear . SP2 looks more like Win-7 , washed out , not clean , it is still better than win-7 , of course. I think I'll have a dual boot with Vista x64 SP1 and XP64 (RTM) with GTX980/Siemens.

I don't know what I did , it was so many attempts and testing procedures (trying various drivers , reinstalling again and again , etc) , but somehow I've managed to switch to "cartoonishly moving mode" instead of tearing . I do not know how to name it properly . It's like when I move a folder , it draws a new one (where I place it) , while keeping the folder in the previous position intact . In this "mode" the games that I run in windowed mode ran without any tearing , still slow , but without tearing . And now it's gone (the "mode"), after reboot . And I do not know how to get it back . Funny.

Where did you see such config ? Anyway , I'm not familiar with modern laptops , sorry. And my notebook from 2013 already had PCI-e 2.0. On one of my desktops (where I test XP64 dual-boot with Vista) I can observe some games can easily reach and stay at 86% for some time on PCI-e 2.0 with Vista and GTX 980, but with XP64 it's like around 30% only. For my precise config just scroll back and replace GTX Titan with 980 . I still think that even if GPU-z detects PCI-e 2.0 with XP64 , it seems like Nvidia drivers just can't take any advantage of it on XP. Otherwise why would Nvidia CPL say "PCI-e" with XP and "PCI-e gen2.0" with Vista ?

It's with all DX9 games that I play (not just one) . Vista works fine with the same driver versions , XP64 has like 30-45% slower framerate. No wonder , 'cause it shows PCI-e 1.0 only...

TryAcquireSRWLockExclusive can be replaced with AcquireSRWLockExclusive . GetLogicalProcessorInformationEx can be replaced with GetLogicalProcessorInformation. You need to use CFF Explorer. I'm guessing you're familiar with the procedure. If not , just scroll the extended kernel topic back. I've successfully launched the programmes I wanted to launch . Keep in mind , I'm not using the ex-kernel and I don't have it installed. If you encounter another error (the next in the queue) , you need to replace it too, with something similar , or just open the programme you want to launch in the Dependency walker and see all of that it "wants" in advance . This fix works , but not every time , of course.
