Agreed. The behavior in that thread was unacceptable. I locked the topic and made it clear that I won't allow that behavior in the forum section for my project. If you see something like this in the Basilisk section of the Pale Moon Forum again feel free to let me know directly.8 points

Holy Crap! Look at this Basilisk thread, where I guess someone from here went to the Pale Moon Forum and dared to mistakenly ask about Serpent. It's not about the right or wrong I'm concerned with: it's the snotty nature that Moonbat conducts himself with. Just a p***-poor way to talk about people: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=28657&start=40#p2379354 points

So weird hateful people. Why they hearts so full of hate? What's wrong with them? Wow, just WOW ! What an hateful person. Is he out of his meds? I saddened an astonished buy this level of unprovoked aggression and hate. Absolute nonsense. In fact that was true when win XP was in it's prime and "normies" use IE6 or IE7- that was time when you will always catch up so virus very fast. This was the reason i migrated on Firefox around 2007 - tired of viruses exploiting million holes in IE. With all XP updates and using unique browsers like New Moon + Ublock, - chances of virus infection is extremely low. 99.99% modern viruses now can not even work in XP now - they code is incompatible with it anymore. P.S. Speaking about old Operation Systems, i have question. I recently watch a lot of YouTube channel "Action Retro", when retro enthusiast upgrade to unusual fast level Apple PowerPC machines. And one of they major problems - they not having modern browser anymore - cause they tied to Tiger and Leopard OS and they "forks" like Sorbet Leopard and they only(?) developer of they own Firefox fork TenFourFox abolished project, so they left without modern update internet browser. So i wanted to ask Roytam1 - how hard it will be to recompile latest NM28 to PowerPC machine? Is it really possible to do even once as experiment? I just wondering.3 points

Simply said, poor and a no-go. But Moonbat got a very good reply from Sajadi. I am sure that Moonbat would have been warned by our moderators if he had posted something like that here. I assume his comment would have been deleted immediately.3 points

Sure Mozilla is pretending to be good while it's scum like everyone else. But Firefox's codebase is still distinct from Chrome's, maybe they took some bits from Chrome, one would have to dig into the tree, at least I remember someone from Moonchild Productions saying they adapted RegExp parser from Chromium or something along those lines. Some parts are written Rust, it still has interface hackable through CSS editing (AND YOU CAN MOVE THE FREAKING EXTENSION BUTTONS ON WHATEVER SIDE YOU WANT AND THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE ALL CRAMMED IN ONE PLACE), some classic extensions are still loadable with some adaptations (eg. Tab Mix Plus, also DownThemAll! and some others), there are differences under the hood when it comes to coding web extensions, it doesn't perform like Chrome on benchmarks. There are more, but these are the ones I'm personally most aware about.2 points

Welcome to the human race! That last question from the quote above, it's a bit like asking "Why is the sky blue?" IMO. Here's the quote I found on another discussion website that relays some thoughts that seem fitting in an instance such as this: People love to lash out when their ways are challenged in any way, or they're being screwed by more powerful person/group, then they take the bottled up tension on the weaker person/group. Or if they had bad day. Add sociopathy, psychopathy, greed, egotism, narcissism etc. And the way this whole Matrix is structured...who can keep sanity? Navigating this world feels a bit like this picture to me: Surrounded by enemies, no allies, no weapon to defend oneself with. Backstabbers everywhere.2 points

At this point I am unlikely to be able to do it, even on Windows 8.0 this build does not work.2 points

XP is old but millions of people around the world still use it because they have to for whatever reason. Heck I still boot into it on occasion because perfectly good software like Nero 7.5 won't install on Windows 7+. That was intentional to force users to purchase upgrades. Now Microsoft has upped the game with Windows 11 and unrealistic OS requirements for literally hundreds of millions. Hopefully they'll get slapped with antitrust lawsuits and fines once Win 10 has expired.2 points

BTW I think you may want to make a new release since UXP got some new codes landed lately.2 points

I had been meaning to respond to this topic for a week, but I'd been so preoccupied with work and other commitments that I hadn't had the chance to ... until now! I wanted to leave a huge thank-you, @XP-x64-Lover, for all you've done in finding these drivers and allowing those of us sticking with XP64 a chance to upgrade to hardware a bit more recent. Between your drivers and the trick explained by Matt's Repository for getting XP/XP64 drivers for the nVidia 9XX series, on Memorial Day Weekend I was able to finally give my desktop the badly needed overhaul I'd been wanting to do since my first posts at MSFN back in 2014! That's 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, SABERTOOTH X99 motherboard, Intel i7-6950X CPU, and a GeForce GTX TITAN X. I wasn't able to get the SSD thing sorted out, so I wound up using the IDE method, which has worked amazingly well with my existing install. Since @bluebolt figured out a way to get an install of XP64 working on a NVMe 2.0 drive, I may skip the SSD and attempt a fresh install off of that instead, since the X99 has a bay for NVMe drives. For now, though, I'm just excited to have not only put my hardware troubles behind me for now, but that I've now got the RAM upgrade I've wanted for years!2 points

After 10 years using Sandy Bridge, I have decided that the time has come to update my main hardware, I resisted updating, among other things, due to the stagnation of intel between 2012 and 2017 as well as the incompatibility of old Windows (already Kaby Lake was not even officially compatible with Windows 8.1). Then I found Alder Lake running on Windows 7 (with a dedicated graphics card): https://msfn.org/board/topic/183194-windows-7-on-the-intel-alder-lakez690-platform/, and I told myself it's time to upgrade! I have done several tests with different versions of Windows such as Windows 7, XP, and of course, Windows Vista. In this article I will summarize how I managed to install Windows Vista, although it is not the best option for such current hardware. Procedure to install Vista on an Alder Lake system: 1- Download USB 3.0 AMDXHCI drivers: Windows Vista, like Windows 7, are not compatible with USB 3 natively, so you have to proceed to unofficial universal drivers such as AMDXHCI, I leave a link to some specifically designed for Vista: here 2- Burn the Vista SP2 64-bit iso image on a USB stick: Do it with the Rufus program, if it's in GPT change it to MBR, change the file system to NTFS. After burning the ISO, copy the AMDXHCI folder to the root of your USB. 3- Enable CSM in BIOS 4- Time to install Vista!: Connect the USB memory in a USB 3.0 port, and use a PS2 mouse in this part since the whole USB will not work, when you click "Install Now" a dialog will appear asking for a driver, click on browse and locate the previously downloaded AMDXHCI. The installation is normal. 5- OOBE time: Before you get to the final Vista installation setup, press F8 as Vista starts and choose "Allow unsigned drivers" as USB 3.0 won't work. 6- Install essential drivers with SnappyDriverInstaller: When you get to the desktop you must install some drivers with SDI, select all the drivers that appear (except one for synaptics mouse) and install them without problems. Until here, ready, we already have Vista working in Alder Lake! Works: - HD Audio - USB 3.x It does not work: - Ethernet Without trying: - NVMe - Big-little Clarification: it is mandatory to use a dedicated graphics and disable the integrated graphics since with the latter the CSM will not work. You must have a dedicated network/wifi card since the ethernet provided by intel only works in Windows 10/11.1 point

This build is targeted to be more RAM-friendly than earlier builds. The chrome.dll file now has a default base address of 0x3e1c0000 and this seems to work well for both x86 XP and for x64 XP. Limited to no tests whatsoever were performed outside of XP. Any Chrome up to 109 will work on 7/8/8.1. It's official, and had been said many times. The point of the topic is to discuss newer versions.1 point

I didn't find any offline installer. Any link to a working, full offline installer? The name, size or date of this installer would be helpful, too.1 point

This announcement at the time was intended for existing business customers who still used Bitdefender on legacy operating systems. Bitdefender Free Antivirus under Windows XP was abandonded years before.1 point

thanks for the download link @AstroSkipper! You're welcome! I did a deeper research in terms of Comodo Antivirus under Windows XP one month ago.1 point

and bitdefender did support windows xp at one point but apparently does not anymore https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/71263-77680-windows-xp,-windows-vista,-windows-server-2003-and-server-2008-support-announcement.html1 point

The last error-free, XP-compatible version is Comodo Antivirus 12.0.0.6818. The very last version targeting Windows XP seems to be Comodo Antivirus 12.2.2.8012, but it is reported to have some bugs in Windows XP. To be honest, I personally never liked Comodo Antivirus. Here is a download link of Comodo Antivirus 12.0.0.6818: https://web.archive.org/web/20190502052352/http://cdn.download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/1000/standalone/cispremium_only_installer.exe It's an old installer, so it is only available by using the Wayback Machine. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Here is the download link of the online installer which automatically downloads Panda Dome 22.00.00 offline installer with the size of 3,142,712 bytes here in Germany: https://repository.pandasecurity.com/Panda/FREEAV/193309/PANDAFREEAV.exe @VistaLover and me were offered different sizes of these installers. Maybe, due to our different locations, servers or whatever. All of that was already discussed in this post and the followings:1 point

That are my sizes of Panda Dome 22.00.00's online and offline installers:1 point

I have been using Panda Dome the last weeks and will stay with it. It works without any problems and is really lightweight. The RAM and CPU usage is very low. That's why I recommended it.1 point

... When/where did I actually said that? If on Vista SP2, go and install: ... You can't update the VS2022 runtime past v14.32.31332.0 (that's contained inside the linked AIO package), but all apps requiring VS2015-2022 runtimes should continue to work as expected with that EoS version...1 point

My friend, in that case , I'm up for the both of them ! Yes, I agree with you - natural death would be much more humane.1 point

There is also a generic USB 3 driver made by the same user that made the AMD USB 3 driver. See here (must be logged in!) https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-vista-drivers-etc-for-modern-hardware-collection.85899/ I can also provide direct links https://www.mediafire.com/file/fgpxbkt9ly6i4py/WinPE_KB2864202++USB3x.7z/file https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MoRwTRdvbOTG88PV3_CervB235YJVkZm/view?usp=sharing https://www.icafe8.top/usr/uploads/2021/04/3331464833.rar You can also swap boot.wim with the one from Windows 7 with the USB 3 drivers integrated. (use NTLite or Simplix Update Pack Tool) There's a way to integrate drivers into install.wim but it's difficult. (Does Load Driver installation even work?) You can also use WinNTSetup from a WinPE environment (Windows 10 PE?) to deploy the Vista install.wim with the drivers added. For UEFI Class 3 systems, UEFISeven could work. Untested. https://github.com/manatails/uefiseven A generic NVMe driver that supports Vista; (from chinese forum) here's it's mirror: https://mega.nz/file/bwY3kKqJ#EjcvJk2023Vy3eOkxT8w2Q6UW7u4Tsp1y2pQPPvjw8s See the MDL forum topic for more details. I'm very noob at ARM CPUs so IDK what to say. WDYM by "use dedicated GPU and disable integrated graphics because with the integrated graphics CSM doesn't work?" Does it mean you're stuck with the default generic VGA driver since there are no IGPU drivers for Vista? MSFN, why can't you implement a redo function when making a post? Once I ctrl+Z my post, there's no going back and it's worse with my OCD here.1 point
