Hardware T&L has nothing to do with blending, they are two separate things. To clarify what the new code does, now the device capabilities are checked, so if the GPU supports hardware vertex processing(like grey-rat's GTX260), it will be used. Software vertex processing is only used if the GPU doesn't support hardware vertex processing, like the GMA3000. Now even with software vertex processing, there is still hardware acceleration for scene rasterization(that's where blending may be used), granted performance may not be good, but this was allowed in the older pre SM 3.0 D3D9 spec. Just read the D3D9 docs, and you will see. I don't know why he mentioned WARP, since that is for D3D10.1+ only, and is a pure software solution, and not comparable to rasterization HAL devices. Regarding the pure device remark, if Get calls are used like he said, then that part of the code must be changed, otherwise it may cause problems. Just give me some time, i will fix it. Edit: I have sent you a PM with the corrected code.2 points

K7 Computing , very old Indian Cyber security company still actively support XP https://www.k7computing.com/us/home-users/total-security Try out the 30 days trial , World Lightest Antivirus and Detection quite good https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-10/june-2022/k7-computing-total-security-16.0-221309/ AVTest founds detection to be world class and given Top Product batch. One problem it uses large neural network , so false positive is bit high [ Much better than ESET] UI is very simple. I used to use Bit-defender on XP but when support ran out i moved to K7 and super happy. Next time even my Windows 10 partition will get K7. They even proud of supporting legacy platform https://blog.k7computing.com/ransomware-protection-for-legacy-devices-in-healthcare/ In India , industry and hospital uses XP in large number due to Legacy hardware like CNC and Xray machine.2 points

General and specific solutions for problems regarding AU/WU/MU in Windows XP List of used abbreviations: AU = Automatic Updates AV = Antivirus IE = Internet Explorer KB = Knowledge Base MDL = My Digital Life Forums. Link: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/ MKB = Microsoft Knowledge Base MU = Microsoft Update OS = operating system OSs = operating systems WU = Windows Update WUMT = Windows Update MiniTool We all are well informed about restoring WU/MU in Windows XP. A lot of threads and solutions to get access to WU/MU website. But we are here in a Windows XP forum. Therefore, this thread is targeted on Windows XP only and is meant to collect and provide solutions for general or specific problems which can occur after or while restoring update functionality. The main WU/MU related thread, which is targeted on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista, is totally bloated and completely out of control, many post are definitely off-topic. To find general or specific solutions, you have to be a Sherlock Holmes or you'll need a lot of time to read tons of posts with no or low quality of information. And a lot of solutions are simply missing. I am no longer interested in posting new solutions or self-created fixes which can never be found again in such threads. From now on, I rather try to avoid posting in threads where people are talking permanently off-topic. Therefore, I decided to create my own one. Anyway, this main thread can be found here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/178377-on-decommissioning-of-update-servers-for-2000-xp-and-vista-as-of-july-2019/ The second post of this thread contains a numbered list of general solutions for problems regarding AU/WU/MU and methods of restoring WU/MU functionality in Windows XP. After performing these general solutions and methods, users are able to exclude errors or misconfiguration relating to AU/WU/MU in their Windows XP system. It is senseless to solve a specific problem if there is a general one. If WU/MU can't be restored generally and a user thinks about a reinstallation, the general solutions listed in second post can be tried first. There are different solutions to do this restoring successfully. General solutions: Link: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183498-general-and-specific-solutions-for-problems-regarding-auwumu-in-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1216506 The third post of this thread contains a numbered list of specific solutions for problems regarding AU/WU/MU in Windows XP. These specific solutions will be provided with a meaningful title and a link to the creator's post in this thread. Specific solutions: Link: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183498-general-and-specific-solutions-for-problems-regarding-auwumu-in-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1216507 The ninth post of this thread contains a numbered list of additional resources which can be helpful or informative to find an efficient solution for a specific problem. I'll only add resources relating to the topic of this thread. Additional resources: Link: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183498-general-and-specific-solutions-for-problems-regarding-auwumu-in-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1216513 More solutions or resources can be added by posting in commenting zone. The idea is one solution, one post. The same applies to additional resources. Today I start to post some general solutions and methods, a brand-new specific solution and an additional resource. If you want to post an AU/WU/MU related solution or an additional resource in this thread, you can use the commenting zone to do this. Please post it by choosing a meaningful headline in bold and font size 18 for better visibility! If it seems to be a real solution (it's not my job to test them all) or an interesting resource, I will list it in second, third or ninth post with a link to the member's original comment for better overview. Due to the modular character of this thread each posted solution or resource can be upvoted or liked separately with credits to their poster. Any discussions or questions about these solutions or resources are explicitly welcome. But one thing must be totally clear, everything should relate to this topic. That means please stay on-topic! If you enjoyed this thread or maybe you found it interesting and helpful, we would be pleased about any reaction by liking or upvoting and of course commenting. Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point

The login to the website https://outlook.live.com/ (formerly Hotmail) doesn't work anymore in New Moon 28 (2022-09-29). Tested with a clean profile, too. Here is a screenshot: I don't know how long this problem has existed. Haven't logged in there for a while.1 point

Thanks for that ; that reddit post was only created ca. 11 days ago, so it was missed by my "radar" ... But, nothing completely new is there ... crx4chrome is known to me since many years and it's the best, because it contains signed extensions in .CRX format as (originally) published in the CWS, plus, for a specific extension, may contain an archive of its previous releases ; but it doesn't contain ALL CWS extensions, simply the most popular/endorsed ones... https://extpose.com/explore/ and https://crxcavator.io/ seem to only offer source-code zips of extensions; and the first site, only for the latest release of them (at least in the "free plan" version of that service) ... Thankfully, 360EE doesn't object to non-CWS-signed extensions, so it can install user-created CRX files without nagging they "didn't come from the CWS "... What I suggested we need is community-driven, orchestrated efforts to salvage all MV2 chromium extensions and make them available, in a freely accessible manner, to retrocomputing users/fans... However, as pointed inside the reddit article, some extensions' licencing might be restrictive in that "archiving" context ...1 point

Reviewing this section, I noticed that Emsisoft and McAfee are still listed, the former with a notation that definition updates ended in 2016. As VistaLover pointed out in a March 31, 2021 post, definition updates for the legacy versions of McAfee ended January 1 of last year. Of course he provided an official link for this bad news.1 point

@VistaLover! The prevoius post was not meant to be funny, and there is and was no dose of sarcasm. I have the greatest respect for you and always enjoy the detailed analyses you disseminate here. And, you actually should know that, hopefully! When I wrote about Advanced Chrome, I did not find information about the special XP compatible version 54 on its homepage anymore. Therefore, I searched in our forum and saw the string Chrome 49/52/54. It was my mistake not reading deeply your comment, which means I misread your statement. And, as I already stated, my next mistake was not using the Wayback Machine. Anyway, I have the greatest respect for you, appreciate your expertises and knowledge, which is rather rare in this forum. I am beginning to fear you have somehow totally misunderstood my comment. My conclusion: Either my English was not good enough, causing you to totally misunderstand me, or you read my comment with a misguided intention. Anyway, we are all human and subject to an age-old rule, which is: Errare humanum est. The old Romans were wise and already knew that! By the way, I am also well over 50 and know very well the problem with age-related memory. Kindest regards, AstroSkipper1 point

Sadly not much. We are currently working on v4. But it still does not work correctly. getmanifest.asp makes v4 very hard. v31 works but only updates until October 2000 because at this time Microsoft has changed the inventory system.1 point

Yesterday I wanted to go ahead and give Windowblinds another try. And to my surprise Windowblinds has improved a lot!!! This is a screenshot of my desktop: Things that WB has improved: Now you can have the more beautiful blur from Vista/7 instead of the acrylic blur from W10 It doesn't feel glitchy anymore You can now either exclude firefox/chrome or integrate to WB skin. Before it wasn't supported. Things I like WB over Glass8: Full W10 support Buttons glow just like in Vista/7 When maximized the transparency is disabled just like in Vista. I liked this feature so bad: The only work around I had to do was to uninstall Startisback+ because is not compatible with WB. Instead installed Classic Shell which works really well with WB. I don't miss Startisback+ at all. All being said, I think WB is now a good successor of Glass8 and I'll keep it. I'd even say that WB is better than Glass8 at this point. The only thing that Glass8 made better was live reflections on glass theme. WB has fixed reflections. I have only one little issue and that is when I open a fresh explorer.exe window I get a black line under the path bar: That black line goes away as soon as the window gets inactive or minimizes/maximized so not a big issue. Well guys if you haven't give WB a try. It's all good now. EDIT: I managed to fix the black line issue. It was a compatibility issue with OldNewExplorer. I disabled a couple of options on OldNewExplorer and it works perfect now! I think I'm more satisfied now with WB than I was with Glass8. I feel it is a more powerful solution given that you can not only add glass + blur to the borders but also you can have Windows themes in the same platform1 point
