And I'm so tired reading that same ol' mantra there: As if they (third party software developers) would give one nickel whether someone's setup is secure or not; what is the underlying truth inside this PR talk is that Microsoft themselves make it gradually impossible for third party software developers to target older OSes with their (M$'s) updated Windows SDKs! ... and it always comes down to that! Win7 will soon reach End of Extended Support, hence it'll also be "outdated and unsupported by Microsoft", with no more "security patches"; what is their stance on Win7? Security reasons my... behind!

Sure! There are reasons galore... none good (@jaclaz'll surely disagree, of course), in fact, but that's beside the point.

Wikipedia agrees that Torch browser requires Windows 7 or 8, citing system requirements from Wayback Machine. Why would Torch Media now falsely claim to support XP and Vista? Wikipedia states, "Torch Media receives payments from companies like Ask.com to bundle potentially unwanted programs with the browser." The fact that Torch does not claim to support Windows 10 causes me to wonder if Windows Defender has a signature for Torch? Edit: The stub installer is not hosted at torchbrowser.com, and here's a link to a recent VirusTotal analysis. 2nd edit: Found an offline installer. It had not been analyzed at VirusTotal for a month (4 detections), so I reanalyzed.

I decided to take the plunge. I tried 8K and 16K Sectors. Neither worked in XP. CHKDSK did seem to understand and repair a NTFS Partition. Formatting failed for either FAT32 or NTFS. WD Formatter could reset and reformat the Drive. Windows 2000 rebooted when I connected the Drive with 16K Sectors. Windows 8 doesn't support 16K Sectors. Windows 98SE did not support 16K Sectors even after further patching of VFAT. Raw access was available, as well as ASPI so I can set or reset the Drive as needed. My RFDISK and RFORMAT tools can handle 16K Sectors as they were designed to support up to 32K Sectors.

Just to clarify Oracle is currently doing out-of-bound 2 years extension for Java 8 updates, according to https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/java-se-support-roadmap.html java 8 extended support is up to 2025, long after Dec 2020. The fixes and patches always went upstream (to openjdk, e.g. if you use linux you can get latest patched RPM) however nobody give a damn about building Windows binary especially 32-bit binary. For example you wont find the last Java 6 updates for Windows from Oracle/Sun but you could get it from IBM https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm10739565 which match the roadmap date above "ended in 2018", the case I hope will be the same for adoptopenjdk to support win32 till 2025 not just 2020, IMHO they are just "arm" of IBM to promote OpenJ9 engine.

Ahoy there! This topic would probably attract more attention in MSFN's Windows XP forum. Perhaps @dencorso would consider relocating it? XP has a larger community with more hackers. Your thread could use the Roblox link Support for Windows XP and Vista ending soon. Sorry, but I'm not a gamer myself.

Excellent tool, I particularly like the inclusion of some very useful Nirsoft utilities and the HP System Diagnostics program, which I've used for years on Windows 98 and Windows XP, but never on Windows 10! The version of GPU-Z included turned out to be more up to date than the one I had installed too! Cheers, Dave.
