  2. Hi Tomcat76, Thank you for your donation of $20.00. We look forward to improving the forums and stay online with your donation. Thanks MSFN
  3. For my current project, I'm assembling a slightly older-gen PC (era Z270/X299), though I guess this question applies to systems of any era. I will be using a dedicated graphics card regardless of whether the CPU has built-in graphics, but does it make a difference in terms of stability whether I use it in combination with a CPU with graphics built-in or one without graphics? I'm sure that an i7-9800X or i9-9900X (Skylake-X Refresh) would give me better cpu performance over an i7-6700K (Skylake) or even an i7-7700K (Kaby Lake), but I'm only wondering about stability.
  4. Thanks again for feedback. Agreed DosFreak with software not much is impossible, this vanilla install is happily using YouTube, usually just a combination of creativity, improved configuration and new code. Thanks for the WebOne Proxy link, bookmarked for later. Using the modern browsers proposed, a proxy is not necessary or desired. Just to clear up confusion ClassicNick. This motherboard only supports 384 MB RAM, why another tower build is necessary. Just dragged up the hardware, will test RAM soon, install Windows 98, etc. Hopefully 1.8 GHz with 1 GB RAM, probably not SSE2 capable. Vanilla Windows 98 -> QEMU v0.8.2 -> TinyCore-7.2.iso -> SeaMonkey v2.46 -> manually bump to SeaMonkey latest. Anyone with maxed out Windows 98 hardware and an emulator could test immediately. The Tiny Core ISO is only ~17 MB to hopefully reduce load. The SeaMonkey trialed would be the latest, v2.49.4 (non-SSE2) or v2.49.5 (with SSE2). Tiny Core can also be used to build whatever Firefox version is desired, unless the script has broken, seemed to work for Firefox v49. Enhanced Windows 98 systems should be able to use a more recent emulator, preferrably accelerated. Newer emulators may be able to use newer Tiny Core releases. My setup gets boot errors and kernel panics after v7.2. Unlikely performance will be acceptable, won't know until it's tested. Emulation performance has always been disappointing in the past, prefer multi-boot, just want to test. For me the test isn't to load yet another browser, patched and slightly newer. It's to load a browser i would feel comfortable using for banking. Also i would like the browser binaries to be retrieved from the source website, not third party. Everyone needs to decide for themselves which browser is acceptable for banking type activities. To me this is the last link to determine whether Windows 98 can be made a fully viable all day, every day OS in 2020.
  5. Thanks for still releasing builds on this day of chinese traditional new year!
  6. By default, the SSL protocol disabled problem on Windows 95 still persists, however, I noticed that coping NSS related files from Retrozilla, or K-Meleon fixes the SSL protocol disabled problem. If anyone wants a list of the files I copied, I will post back.
  7. I had two PMs today, and didn't get an e-mail notification about either of them, although they were flagged when I went to the board. I am still getting notifications for new posts on threads I'm subscribed to though. Looks like something is definitely broken somewhere..........
  8. Happy new year to you too, and thanks for all the work :) Regarding those suspicious access blocks by Cloudflare or whatever, have just tested this link https://o.rths.ml/gpc/files1.rt/phoenix-0.5-cl933-tls12.7z with httpS and old gecko K-Meleon1.5.4 (like FF2, max TLS1.0), and faked UA to IE7, and it still opens fine.
  9. archive updated again for fixing context menus. and happy lunar new year!

  13. Hello, I've wanted to use WhatPulse on my Toshiba Satellite L550, however, WhatPulse 2.8.4 throws out this error The procedure entry point SetProcessDPIAware could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll This is a error that was introduced in 2.8.2, this means the last version that opens on XP is 2.8.1, however, It doesn't authenticate anymore. How do i patch (as in removing the mention of SetProcessDPIAware) WhatPulse 2.8.4 so that it works on XP? Sorry if this is on the wrong section :/
  14. That's all good, but the OP reported issues accessing Roy's server over plain HTTP: the o.rths.ml site is currently not working FWIW, I can access the referenced link both over plain HTTP and HTTPS (TLS 1.3 used in the latter case) in NM28: BTW, the extension used is SSleuth v0.5.4 https://repo.hyperbola.info:50000/other/iceweasel-uxp/addons/sslsleuth/ssleuth-0.5.4-fx.xpi
  15. OK, so it appears that, to avoid distorted audio, you have to include Gecko and/or Firefox in the UA - but then, you either get the new Twitter interface or the mobile version of Twitter (depending on the spoofed FF version), neither of which you want. (Side rant: I wish Twitter and other Web sites would quit doing this! Just because your company's marketing geniuses think everyone will love whatever new UI you've cooked up doesn't mean it's true! And obviously you still support the old interface - so is it that hard to give folks a "new/classic" interface checkbox in your user preferences screen, instead of making them fool around with user agent strings?) I think I have a solution, but I'm not sure either of you will like it. This solution requires FF 45 or Serpent. Use the Pale Moon or IE user agent to get the old interface (and distorted audio) To fix the audio, turn off the internal A/V support (in about:config, set media.ffvpx.enabled to false); instead, install the Adobe Primetime CDM. That should play the audio without distortion. (Installation instructions are a few threads below this one.) In Vista and above, you could use the WMF support built into Windows instead, but IIRC, WMF in Vista has bugs of its own with Twitter, so on Vista you may want to use Primetime anyway.
  16. Looks like Cloudflare updated their TLS security. Old versions of wget no longer work (even with up-to-date OpenSSL). New wget versions work fine. Same is probably true of browsers. Which browser is having the problem and what message is it giving you?
  17. That's true. Most folks under 30 probably only watch traditional TV for sports, or maybe because the business they're patronizing has a TV on. Most of them stream pretty much everything else. WMC and similar software is just for old-timers like me who refuse to let go of our dinosaur viewing habits. It's ironic, therefore, that the two biggest features Micro$oft removed from WMC over its lifetime were the sports line and Netflix.
  18. Well nothing is impossible, It may be worth asking Roytam if he'd be interested and if so what amount of money he'd expect for the amount of effort. The last Seamonkey I tested with regular Windows 98 was SeaMonkey 95 and with Kernelex was SeaMonkey v2.8 but that was awhile back. Not sure if the KernelEx updates allowed newer versions to work or not. The newer builds that require SSE2 would likely just need to be recompiled. Have you tried WebOne proxy? https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=67165
  19. Update: As of a few minutes ago, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5201 is the only official download page that is still working. (The other link now redirects to What is Microsoft Security Essentials?) The larger file is of course the x64 version. If you think you might want to install MSE someday, either store an installer now or take your chances with third-party downloads in the future!

  21. That's bizarre. You'd think it would be all or nothing....
  22. Thanks for the reply! According the the article the two goto motherboards are the Asus Cubx and the Microstar BXMaster. I was hoping to use a Tualatin P3 and it looks like its not offically compatible with the Cubx, however, there is some kind of mod (not ideal) or adapter (can't seem to find) to get it to work? Does anyone have experience with a tualatin and 440bx? Would it be better to switch to another chipset (i815ep) or switch to a different cpu? Thanks again!
  23. does anything shown with http://o.rths.ml/cdn-cgi/trace ?
  24. the o.rths.ml site is currently not working, roytam1 [all browsers from many different PCs I'm using can't connect to that site but other sites work fine] why?
  25. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:.NET_Framework_version_history https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/archive/blogs/astebner/mailbag-what-version-of-the-net-framework-is-included-in-what-version-of-the-os both worth reading
  26. MSFN User 'VistaLover' did post on this issue , at least this URL might pertain to it --> https://msfn.org/board/topic/177125-my-build-of-new-moon-temp-name-aka-pale-moon-fork-targetting-xp/page/190/?tab=comments#comment-1170932 I also have the (Video) TWITTER AUDIO DISTORTION with WinXP OS. And the ADOBE PRIMETIME CDM 'Plugin' install does NOT solve it here either.
  27. Actually, WES7 will still be supported until the end of the year, more or less:
