My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I know exactly what I'm talking about. This guy likes to write disparagingly, especially when it comes to MSFN, old operating systems and New Moon. Rudeness and negativity are the pillars of his character. Guys like this trollbat were the reason why I gave up my account in the PM forum and never posted there again. Good decision. -

Will take your word for it. I do not "troll" that forum. I have no clue of this poor soul's thinking - past, present, or future. I do know that even here at MSFN, we have "rib pokers" so yeah, one has to learn to see them as such and IGNORE THEM. -

"The comment" looks exactly how this poor soul generally thinks, hates and writes comments about all MSFN related. It never ceases to amaze me what certain intellectual low-flyers are allowed to write there. Apart from that, the ignorant has no idea about Windows XP. And then it also wants to be a developer ... -

The "comment" didn't look that "bad" to me. A "rib poke" only escalates if the owner of the rib "reacts impulsively" instead of "acting consciously". The "comment" was nothing more than a "rib poke". To me, it looked more like a *TEST* - some sort of "watch this, I'll post this and then I'll monitor MSFN, now I will know what members there also read here". - Today

Showing their ignorance which apparently is bliss, they wallow in their muck. -
In terminology used by web browsers, it's avc1. Ask your browser if it canPlayType('video/mp4; codecs="avc.42E01E"') or rather canPlayType('video/mp4; codecs="avc1.42E01E"'). Anyone that experimented with YouTube is almost surely familiar with stats for nerds and "c" in avc1 abbreviation is distinct enough IMO to tell it apart from AV1, or should I have referred to the latter as av01 or AV01 for consistency.

Hi, until now, I do all my tests on real hardware: The 486 Shuttle Hot 433 board, vers. 1..3 with 1024kB Cache and 256MB Ram. There I flashed the Bios from Award 2001(!) . It has a mod, for to disable the PS/2-mouse by default. mio.bin https://ufile.io/trzn0n6x Now I try to use the nice Emulator for x86 cpus https://github.com/86Box/86Box Is there a way, to add this mio.bin Bios to the 86Box? Because this Bios allows boot from Cdrom and large harddisks Dietmar PS: By the way, which is the last version of this Emulator, that works under XP SP3?

I'd also add that *NONE* of us MSFN XP Users have a "setup" like that BIASED video used. They opened all ports, set everything to lowest security possible, didn't NAT on LAN behind a router, you name it. They *WANTED* to be *INFECTED* and so they "configured" their XP to *BECOME* infected. By all means, DO THAT TYPE OF SETUP in 7, 8, 10, and 11 and "report your findings".

I've seen that video before. I am unable to replicate. Granted, my XP install *never* (and I mean *NEVER*) connects to the internet *without* Proxomitron filtering/blocking those connections. Personally, I would love to see this same exact "test" be performed on 7, 8, 10, and 11. Do you really think for one second that Malwarebytes won't find similar with 7, 8, 10, and 11 "if installed the same way as the test-case XP" ???

Where exactly did I write that? -
Hi, it works great with Windows 11 version 26100.560 24H2

Eureka!!! It took a "reinstall" after the initial install using 'patchmem /M', followed by a restart due to a temporary bsod involving winsock, and before I knew it I was on Firefox Nightly browsing away. I suppose it really was just that first low 16MB of RAM that the chipset required, which may have been crowded out by something - causing the VFAT error. What an oddly specific, ludicrously difficult problem to diagnose. I'm just happy I didn't have to reinstall Windows with all the work I put into it. I thank the late RLoew, and I thank you guys for your help. It's much appreciated.

Interesting. Unfortunately I don't see a specific answer to who owned the x.com domain, which (I assume) wasn't a big thing before Musk decided to rebrand Twitter as X (leading me to refer to the two domains collectively as Xitter.com). -

Look through RLOEW's patches for the VFAT fix... It occurs when you have is memory patch installed and then install a network card.
