@Mov AX, 0xDEAD I try to hack the question about CPUID and CMPXCHG8B in setupldr.exe from XP SP3 on the xp.iso. I search via the debug version of this setupldr.exe, but changes I do in the free version of setupldr.exe. Still I get this crazy message about no CPUID CMPXCHG8B on this 486 compi and I have no idea, from where it comes. This I have changed in setupldr.exe. I tried the folowing: -Changed widget settings to §10 and restarted without HDAICOUT.HDA - no sound -Changed widget settings to $10 and restarted with HDAICOUT.HDA - no sound - Changed widget settings to $11 (i guessed to try it as you mentioned the widgets are $10 or $11) and restarted with/withoout HDAICOUT - no sound, but this time machine locks up on bootup unless TSR is unloaded (my windows installation is set to limit RAM to 980 MB) I also tried all of the above with pcipatch value and without. Looks like the Conexant variant is one stubborn codec :$

Rebasing will help a lot with memory usage if you currently see chrome.dll in orange when you open thorium.exe in Process Hacker->Modules tab. Slightly off-topic, anyone else finds it bizarre there's newer Chromium for WinXP than for Android 7 (released in 2016) and older?

Without the need to install yet another extension, changing the font can be done with uBlock Origin as well. 🙂 I like the Noto Sans font (hinted). That is the pre-release link Tihiy uses when he publishes a quick bugfix or in this case a test build to show to Microsoft so they remove the compatblock. The build can change. The link isn't wrong, maybe Tihiy took it down and put it back up? I doubt that because I downloaded it right after you posted that and got the same test build I got last week. Perhaps operator error? Cache? 3.7.9 is not actually released yet. The test build I have was signed Saturday April 20th and will be released if/when Tihiy decides to release it.

It literally did though lol. I clicked that link and downloaded it in a VM at work and it installed 3.7.8, taskbar was enabled by default. I just got home and clicked it, installed it over my existing install on my own PC and it installed 3.7.9.

Just want to make certain.. The latest version for XP is: Thorium_122.0.6261.168 ? I've been going through the flags one-by-one and seeing slight improvements but only just a little and I'm on aged (dated) faulty hardware now so better with hardware accelrabiton disabled in all ways and allow software to pick up what is can to just get by. --no-first-run --disable-file-system --disable-gpu --disable-logging --disable-webg --disable-component-update --disable-background-networking --ssl-version-min=tls1.2 --enable-strict-mixed-content-checking --no-pings Seems as good as its gonna get. I know one day (that day has not come for me yet) that 360 Redux will no longer be usable and if this computer is still running I'll be using Thorium. Take good care everyone.

Sorry @NotHereToPlayGames, I think I was a bit premature saying that the Digital Spy site fonts were all fixed. Although it's all now OK on the main pages, if I go to a forum thread, the header is still the wrong font. I've tried a few experimental changes to the Stylus script, but nothing seems to make any difference. Not a big deal, it's still much better than it was before, but just thought I'd mention it in case there is an easy fix. I'm afraid I don't know very much about this sort of problem.

Thanks @Tripredacus, I have tried to repair XP but I have a volume OEM copy and the repair option does not come, so another parallel XP has been installed in C: Now that I have the BIOS updated, the new copy neither has ACPI installed. The only new thing is that it has installed a tab called APM, but without any advantage. It neither suspends nor hibernates. Thanks @genieautravail, the only way I have found to install ACPI on this computer is by pasting a system image with ACPI created from another computer, so it works without problems. That was recommended by others also. It has ZERO effect on my system. No clue whether it "should" or not, just know that it has ZERO effect, no decrease in startup time, but no increase either.
