  1. Past hour
  2. None of these frequently discussed (on MSFN) Chromium clones are worth losing a sleep over. Most of their code is copy-paste off Chromium, they don't have their own legs to stand on, without Google LLC, they are nothing. I can relate. I think I should be making better use of my time here. How, I haven't a clue.
  3. If I'm not mistaken, someone here still tries to tell it's all open source, so no problem to apply the ungoogled patches yourself, what stops you?
  4. Thorium surely does add tracking parameters to your search. &newwindow=1&sca_upv=1&hl=en#ip=1 What's this "ip=1", especially interesting. Looks very much like a command to record/collect your IP adddress.
  5. excuse me, everybody, if I might appear to be like a stick in the mud, but would anyone explain to me what is wrong with having only the following list of registry occurrences of defend (which means windefend, windows defender, windowsdefender, etc.) and no file or folder occurrence on disk? below is a text file listing all I have found in my registry concerning windows defender. no coming back, no rebutting in in normal everyday operations. never have I had to disable anything, never mind control it, at least this is what I see. am I missing anything? Advanced Registry Search.txt
  6. ... IIANM , the last (stable) version of Mozilla Firefox that has "official" native support for Windows 7 SP1 (both 32 & 64-bit) is the ESR channel of v115, currently at version 115.10.0 ... ... Release channel Fx-115.0 does indeed lack that fix, however that's NOT the case for the ESR channel of 115 (patched version was 115.2.1): https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2023-40/
  7. Omg! No wonder Windows 11 is the way it is!!
  8. No they still can't figure out which team fixes compat.
  9. Today
  10. JFX, ill make an repack exe from your codes using advancedrun.exe, and try to stop windows defender in win11 latest version. After starting it and restarting the PC, only upper option of defender was started, and all 3 other options of defender was stopped sucsessfully. May be we needs something little more to stop it completely.
  11. It's one of the reasons I only run UNGOOGLED variations of Chrome-based browsers.
  12. Does this mean Microsoft is allowing SAB on 24H2 now?
  13. Could you please give me a hint how to obtain it? I found only full Windows 3.1 SDK, but it doesn't seem to have VfW. Thanks, I took a look. But alas, it’s not there either (or it’s just me that didn’t dig too thoroughly).
  14. Great, I'm going to find my USB Floppy and SD Cards reader, then I should probably reproduce it my main machine. I will probably just suppress that error, because issue is caused by something else - Not used drives are mounted, but doesnt contains real disk physically connected IOCTL_DISK_GET_DRIVE_LAYOUT_EX, thats probably due that mechanism, because they are another part of HW where you connect another one too. Will see what can I do. I will check also mentioned SSE if it's possible.
  15. I think you must exclude volumes with a size of 0. Regards
  16. Thorium on 32-bit mobile single core. A bit misleading, feels slower. Kafan Minibrowser, same HW. Much faster IRL; faith in benchmarks & numbers in general lost.
  17. Predictable, playing with local sharks is dangerous, and not surprising, considering the fact you lost to @D.Draker.
  18. Yes, I can confirm that the disk 1 is the Ricoh SD/MMC Disk Device: ID of the Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller : PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_1521103C&REV_14\4&3A88E1E&0&32F0 Regards
  19. Supermium testing versions on github are free to use. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases Those that are on patreon are paid. Promised better support and updates. I don't know which exactly are used by that guy.
  20. Disallow UDP connections. It doesn't need them. Lookups can be done via https. Precise explanations. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/dns-over-https-secure-dns-lookups/
  21. There's nothing remotely malicious/harmful about those packets, simply normal Chrome behavior. For Chromecast, i guess, maybe other stuff. No need to add any firewall rules, it's not a routable address.
  22. Usually, I do not use any Chrome or Chromium browsers under Windows XP. My daily drivers under Windows XP are New Moon 28, Mypal 68 and Serpent 52. And there is no such behaviour.
  23. Literally how device discovery (SSDP) works -- on Windows, on Linux, on Android; On Chrome, on Chromium, on Firefox. What's in any way noteworthy about Thorium behaving exactly like Chromium?
  24. FWIW Alex tells me that uBlock Origin is bundled with Thorium. 🙂
  25. As I already mentioned in my Antimalware thread, Windows 10 Firewall Control is great and is doing a perfect job in controlling all system and application connections like, for example, Thorium.
  26. I was going to suggest that one also but it's not in v114 and I cannot access Thorium or Supermium at work. Yep! This one did the trick. No more entries in my firewall log. I just found this by accident, and its description made me prick up my ears:
  27. Thorium is apparently looking for Google Chromecast devices.
