The Nvida srives that are somewhere in the 98/ME section works for both Windows ME and 98, but they suck compared to actual drivers The ASUS board has an official card that came with it ( sadly a 64MB but 128-bit card ) which is really a nvida card. Again the unofficial drivers sucks compared to offficial drivers. I barely get any modes with the unofficial drivers, So if anybody wants to me to attach the drivers I am using for my 64mB board, so you can modifiy the driver package or see if it will help??? These are ASUS drivers for the Nivida board. eventuallu I hope to max out to a graphics card 528MB.
petekeller Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 This is just an informational post for those thinking aboutinstalling Win98 or ME on a system with a PCI-Express videocard. Right now, there are a lot of ASUS nVidia 6600 and 6800 pci-evideo cards up for sale on Ebay. They're being sold as 'new' and arepresumably old stock. Prices range from $30 to $80 with freeshipping. TmEE Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Portwell RUBY-9719VG2AR works if you don't mind lack of onboard audio, video and LAN. Just be sure to select ACPI 1.0 and disable PCI memory remapping from the BIOS. I used xrayer's intel INF mod.For video I am using Ati Radeon X550 PCI-E GFX card, sound comes from Yamaha YMF718 + Yamaha SW1000XG + Yamaha DS2416 + Yamaha AX44 and LAN is handled by a Intel Pro1000 desktop NIC.
buyerninety Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) @TmEE, Perhaps better expressed as;}Portwell RUBY 9719VG2AR works if you don't mind lack of windows 98 drivers for onboard 'audio, video and LAN'.{onboard audio=? (perhaps you could enlighten us what Realtek ALCxxx chip it has, if it has an ALCxxx?)onboard video= (integrated) Intel GMA X4500 - VGA out (VBEMP any good for only basic resolution in Win98?)onboard LAN= Intel 82583V (PCI-E bus device)..But of course, you do get 6 PCI slots total to utilize... TmEE Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) It has a ALC662 for which I could not find a working driver. The latest on Realtek site recognises the chip but driver does not load...LAN did not even have 2K driver (2K and 98 both use NDIS 5.0 so there's a slim chance of success)The VESA driver is only good for very basic things, and even then performance is very low, also no support for resolutions like 1680x1050. glocK_94 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I currently own an Asrock 4coredual-sata2. For the record, everything works perfectly with Win98 on it (with the exception of the audio chipset - no win9x drivers AFAIK).It works fine with 2 graphic cards. Right now, Win98 uses a GeForce 6200 AGP and XP/7 a 460 GTX (for those interested, this gives surprisingly good performance in recent games, assuming the screen and thus, the resolution is not too big). Here's my problem : I tried to replace the 460 GTX with a 760 GTX. Unfortunatly, It freezes on startup (I get no POST display). It seems the 7xx serie is not compatable with the 4coredual-sata2... which means that 6xx serie is probably not either since they are based on the same chip.I'm thinking about buying a (used) Asrock 4core1333-GLAN or 4core1600-GLAN. They have P31/G31 + ICH7 chipsets and a Realtek RTL8111B/RTL8111C LAN.Does anyone have an experience with Win98 on this card ?Will it support my 760 GTX and a 5200 PCI card for Win9x ?

ruthan Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) Hello,im trying 4CoreDual-VSTA http://www.asrock.com/mb/VIA/4CoreDual-VSTA/. Its working, i have only problem with integrated sound card driver, which i didnt find.Other problem is external Geforce 7600GS AGP 256 MB card, im unable to make card working. Drivers - i still have some non working PCI bus device in Device manager, but otherwise, everything working. Edited March 24, 2015 by ruthan
pangoomis Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Your Audio is HD Audio, there's no HD Audio drivers. Highest end NVIDIA cards which work is the 6000 series. PCI Buses are nothing to worry, they don't do anything.
M()zart Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Other problem is external Geforce 7600GS AGP 256 MB card, im unable to make card working.Take a look at this topichttp://www.msfn.org/board/topic/97140-nvidia-drivers-8269/
rfsapiens Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) Dear all, I have an Asrock 4Core1600-GLAN (Intel P31 Chipset + ICH7) and I installed Windows 98SE sucessfully with RLoew mempatch I had from previous installation on a 120GB SSD but now I have the following issues: The system freezes when it tries to install USB 2.0 Hub Root Device (after it installs well the Enhanced USB 2.0 Controller OWC) so I had to disable it on device manager and the system works correctly on USB 1.1 which it isn't an issue to me but it would be great if I could also solve this.My issue is also how to install SATA patch or ICH7 drivers on Windows 98SE since I have yellow marks with code 10... (it ran fine when I used a IDE disk instead of the SSD) , Realtek 8111B and is there any drivers that I can put to work with P35/P31 Chipset? Also since it's an PCI-E motherboard is there anyway to make a graphics card works correctly with this windows? I heard that with some modified drivers it was possible to make a Nvidia 6000 or 7000 PCI-E series work correctly. Can anyone confirm this? I have a Core 2 Duo E8400 and I'm planning to upgrade the CPU to a Xeon X5460 with the 771 Mod since this machine is tripple booted. Windows 98SE supports intel Xeon correctly even if single core, right? Thank you in advance for your kind attention and help. With the best regards, rfsapiens. Edited June 17, 2015 by rfsapiens
schwups Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Bios settings: Ide Configuration > select [Compatible] for legacy OS or install RLoew's SATA PatchI've installed 98SE and ME on SATA and PATA disks, but never on a SSD. It was discussed here somewhrere on MSFN Windows 9x / ME.Chipset driver: http://windows98.xf.cz/chipset/intelinf.zip(manual installation) http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/163405-slipstreamable-intel-chipset-inf-drivers/Graphics card driver (please note the shutdown problem and problems with more than 256MB graphics memory size): http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/97140-nvidia-drivers-8269/USB driver NUSB: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/43605-maximus-decim-native-usb-drivers/official Realtek LAN PCIE driver 98SE/ME:http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=falseAn audio driver for Realtek ALC 662 isn't available. Probably it is not entirely sure that all devices will work as desired.
rfsapiens Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Thank you for your kind reply Does this graphics driver make a PCI-E Nvidia 6600GT work?As for Audio I'll use a SoundBlaster Live which I have installed also SB16 emulation for it With the best regards, rfsapiens.
schwups Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Yes, the modified graphics driver 82.69 supports the NV6600GT (shutdown problem). It should work. But I seem to remember, that there are little different versions of the 6600GT with different device ID's. Make sure, that your card is in the inf file of the driver. It's probably no problem. Some years ago I had a working 6600GT PCIE on WInME. I recommend to read the topic about the driver 82.69.
