But I have a question : when I choose a custom install directory (specified in Config.ini), and I run FirefoxSilent.exe, the installation is OK, but the extensions are NOT installed...

With the original directory in Config.ini, it works perfectly...

Modified install dir I used : [PROGRAMFILESDIR]\Mozilla\Firefox

Extensions I used: IE View 1.2.4, ReGet Plugin 1.0

Has somebody had the same problem ?

Could you try and replace Reget Plugin by Flashgot and see what happens?

Hi,

I've just tried with the FlashGot extension (last version 0.5.9.7) and after a clean uninstall of Firefox (I uninstall Firefox with Add/Remove Programs, then I delete manually the install directory in Program Files and the profiles in Application Data\Mozilla, then I delete the HKLM\Software\Mozilla and HKCU\Software\Mozilla keys in the registry).

Unfortunately, the install still does not work for me (the Flashgot extension is not installed) !

I have the french edition of Windows XP Pro SP2 and Firefox 1.04.

I edit the config.ini file and I replace the line :

Path=[PROGRAMFILESDIR]\Mozilla Firefox

with this one

Path=[PROGRAMFILESDIR]\Mozilla\Firefox

(and of course, I copy the FlashGot extension in the Project\Extensions folder)

Is this correct ?

Is there another thing to change ?

I tested this program out to see how it compares to my install.

Step 1 works fine

Step 2 only the Profile files copy. Nothing happens when I click the other boxes. This may be because I install in %ProgramFiles%\Mozilla\Firefox, and it may be looking else where for those files.

Packing works fine.

I didn't try installing with it.

My suggestions now.

Repack xpi files, at least for extensions. To get the best compression in the 7z file, they shouldn't be compressed. That goes for the jar file too. You'll be suprised at how many compress them.

Don't use 7zSD.sfx, but instead 7zS.sfx. The other requires another file, which someone may or maynot have.

Move 7za.exe, and 7zSD.sfx to a subdirectory. I know what these files are, and tend to just delete them. If it was in a subdirectory I probably wouldn't.

For the profile, don't forget user.js, userChrome.css, and userContent.css.

Once you implement those, I'll check out bugs with the install.

Just used this tool and now prefer it over the old way (Simonsays method) because it uses a temp location and simons always used icons with no drop shadow.

but how can I get it so it unpacks silently? I went to reshack the dialog section of 7zSD.sfx but cant see anything there to reshack :/ unlike you could with 7zS.sfx.

No error at all for me. But I only integrate a theme, my profile and FlashGot. Using german version, of course.

I think i found a bug. When firefox starts, appears 2 windows named "Disk Error" with text "An error occured starting the Disk I/O Component"

My mystake.

Its because i didnt added the "forecastfox" folder to the project.

The quick launch shortcut could be set to start firefox mazimized? Not normal window?

Btw you are doing a great job .........i tryed almost anything........and till now i was using a msi maker.......almost good.....but not comparing with SOF.
