Here using a mechanic HDs (160Gbs), so when Im low in ram, there is too much virtual memory disk usage... If the browser disk cache is also enabled... the delays are tedious, the HD dont stop of write/read activity.. so I prefer disable cache.

I would advise you to search for Diskeeper 2011 for your disk to be as fast as can be.

... Provided you already have installed a St52-compatible Userscript Editor (XUL/WE, see the recommendations by AstroSkipper :thumbup), you should've scrolled down to:

u9SWVKp.png

and clicked on one of the three offered options; ALL 3 work fine here (St52+VM) ; first option is the GH direct link, already provided in clear text by @AstroSkipper ; the "mirrors" will get you to the respective UserScript Portals, where you have to click appropriate "Install" buttons; FWIW, direct links below

https://update.greasyfork.org/scripts/423851/Simple%20YouTube%20Age%20Restriction%20Bypass.user.js

https://openuserjs.org/install/zerodytrash/Simple_YouTube_Age_Restriction_Bypass.user.js

If none of the links work for you, then something particular to your St52 profile may interfere...

I know of "this link" and the two links on that page, how about you just post the link to the userscript editor for Serpent instead, would be really helpful. I don't know how it's called.

+1 for the recommendation. What's the advantage of 1.4.3 over newer versions?

I noticed compatibilities issues to the Tab Utilities extension in New Moon 28 and some other problems with crashing or not correctly unloading tabs as in the PM fork Suspender.

In Serpent 52, you can, for example, use Tampermonkey 4.11.6120, Violentmonkey 2.14.0 (needs a small fix) or Greasemonkey 3.31.4 from the fork branch.

... Let's start with the most trouble-free option, the XUL ("legacy") UserScript Manager Greasemonkey-for-Pale-Moon (works on St52, too):

https://github.com/janekptacijarabaci/greasemonkey/releases/tag/3.31.4Fork

https://github.com/janekptacijarabaci/greasemonkey/releases/download/3.31.4Fork/greasemonkey-3.31.4-pm_forkBranch.xpi

... And don't take this personally ;), but at my older age I refrain from "spoon-feeding" others  ...

Take good care and good night! :)

The following rule has been proven to be true time and again in my past:
The more spoon-feeding faim2.gif, the more demand for convenience. canapbiere.gif
I think every member should do a proper research on their own first. If this fails, then asking is perfectly fine.  Finding links for extensions whose name and version is already known is not particularly difficult and should be feasible for everyone. :P

It certainly looks that way doesn't it? Well I have searched quite a bit, but I do not necessarily trust just any extension with a dubious name (and they are) to have it in my installation, so therefore I requested the exact thing that works.

None of the extensions I listed just for you are unknown, of dubious origin or even harmful. :buehehe: They all are well-known and simply the last versions which are compatible with Serpent 52. But if you harbour such thoughts and doubts, you should stay away from scriptsgyrophare.gif Because the security risk is not posed by the well-known and absolutely trustworthy script managers , but by the scripts themselves, which are written in JavaScript and whose code can only be read and evaluated by someone with in-depth knowledge of this programming language. smilie_denk_24.gif Scripts can cause damage and should only be obtained from trustworthy sources or programmed yourself. :P

Just a guess, but nowhere. The typically cached elements are simply re-downloaded, again and again, as if the page was visited for the first time. If  @Kmuland's internet bandwidth is greater than HDD bandwidth, disabling the cache makes sense.

Exactly thats the reason. The laptop Im using uses same mechanical HD for downloading, browser cache, windows pagefile.... so in situations withfew memory available skipping the cache saves to much r/w on disk.

Kmuland On such weak systems like yours, you have to adjust much more than on more powerful ones. Install uBlock Origin Legacy and only absolutely necessary extensions! The less, the better. Defragment your complete system partition and don't forget to adjust your pagefile! It shouldn't be fragmented as well. Personally, I tried all extension for memory optimisation but most of them did nothing useful. I use an external RAM manager called CleanMem Pro which frees up RAM that is not used but not released. And most important is to open only very few tabs and/or a tab unloader like Lull The Tabs. I prefer an older version 1.4.3. For the management of websites, I use OneTab and Speed Dial to have only opened the absolutely necessary tabs.

Really appreciated the info!!! I conserve cleanmem as best memory manager but I have to learn how to config it properly. Currently Im testing with old FF memory extensions and really does not help a lot. Ill install Lull The Tabs  now... and test it. My best memory save trick for NM28 is to open a new window instead of a new tab and close the old window to really free up the memory.

@roytam1, I request that you examine or re-examine the "Bug 1" and "Bug 2" items of my bug reports posting for Bnavigator, that is located at:
https://msfn.org/board/topic/185966-my-browser-builds-part-5/?do=findComment&comment=1261055

Since posting it, I have updated it as best I can (the forum failed to fully update it).

After discovering the various code that comments-out the display of the "Open Web Location..." menu item (see https://github.com/roytam1/boc-uxp/blob/master/navigator/base/content/navigatorOverlay.xul#L234-L240 ) and the "Go" and "Search" toolbar buttons (see https://github.com/roytam1/boc-uxp/blob/master/navigator/base/content/navigator.xul#L351-L377 ), then changing it by removing the code's comment markers, the features then work and display in the browser after refreshing the browser startup.  I request that you also effectively make changes for future builds of the browser so that the items can display.

Here is a picture of the browser window after the changes are made:
(purposely also, exhibiting much of the same style as developer Matt A. Tobin's example picture (a derivative pictured below), but with all individual, customized toolbar items unhidden)
BNavigatorAfterchanges_menu_open_small_window.thumb.gif.bd76bb0bf52e45ca2e62e54e40e9aff3.gif

I also wish to bring to your attention that developer Matt A. Tobin has since updated the Borealis Navigator project since you last forked it for BNavigator.  The project is located at:
https://github.com/binaryoutcast/retired-xul-platform
Perhaps there are code changes that would benefit your BNavigator, MainNews, and your other projects.  There might also be adverse changes.

Please also take note that it would appear that Developer Tobin later decided to provide at least the "Go" and "Search" buttons. It does look like those buttons and the URLbar dropdown-marker have also been modified to look more modern (it was my impression that Tobin might have suppressed the "Go" and "Search" buttons because he did not like their cosmetic appearance at the time).  Here is a picture of Borealis Navigator that Developer Tobin provides with his current code repository:
(with size-reducing, format mod to allow compatibility with forum posting)

It also notable that the picture does not include item icons area tray on the status bar. If there omission is mandatory, that would be an adverse change.

I am bad at searching in 5 Threads with 200 pages each. Did anyone try to get HVC decoded using Basilisk Serpent 52 on Vista?

Austrian Broadcasting Company uses DRM protected webstreams for live TV https://tvthek.orf.at/livestreams

I did find the thread about ESR52 and Adobe DRM plugin for H264. Its installed manually, but I dont think it matters here.

Cannot play media. No decoders for requested formats:
video/mp4;codecs="hvc1", video/mp4;codecs="hev1.1.6.L93.B0",
video/mp4;codecs="hvc1", video/mp4;codecs="hev1.1.6.L93.B0",
application/vnd.apple.mpegURL, application/x-mpegURL,
audio/mpegurl, audio/x-mpegurl

Wass there ever a 52ESR plugin for this?

Hint - don't use the forum search feature

In google or bing, just include site:msfn.org as part of your search, I assume "all" search engines allow that, these are the only two I use and I know it works for both of them

forget about it, it is not doable.

even upstream's upstream (i.e. mozilla) is not willing to support it. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1332136

See here which browsers support it:

https://caniuse.com/?search=h.265

For Firefox:

Quote

Supported for devices with hardware support (the range is the same as Edge) on Windows only. Enabled by default in Nightly and can be enabled via the media.wmf.hevc.enabled pref in about:config. 10-bit or higher colors are not supported.

See:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1889731

We've actually added HEVC support (it's still off by default, check the pref media.wmf.hevc.enabled) on Windows, and we have a plan to extend it on other platforms as well.

Perhaps the changes are not included in that Commits listing (my impression is that changes might have been made prior to importing the code into GitHub).

There do appear to be some changes between your repository and Tobin's retired-xul-platform repository.  For example, in Tobin's retired-xul-platform repository the Borealis Navigator "Go" and "Search" buttons are provided for without commenting them out, while in your repository those buttons are commented-out. For Tobin's repository of the example, see https://github.com/binaryoutcast/retired-xul-platform/blob/BINOC_TRUNK/aura/navigator/base/content/navigator.xul#L352-L378 ; for your repository of the example see https://github.com/roytam1/boc-uxp/blob/master/navigator/base/content/navigator.xul#L351-L377 .

I particularly would really like to have the Go and Search buttons unsuppressed in BNavigator.
