leland Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 Hey Roy one issue. With Basilisk 55 I can view the forums and do new posts but for some reason I can't quote anyone's post in a response. Any thoughts on tweaks to make it work. I have NoScript installed but the site is enabled. I don't reply enough to know when it broke but I do know it work in the version I was using in November 2017. Leland

Hello ! UAS isn't needed, strictly speaking, because Basilisk (both 55/moebius and 52/UXP), unlike Firefox ESR 52.x.x, has support for Site-Specific-User-Agent-Overrides (SSUAO); for example, if you set the following "string" preference (in about:config), general.useragent.override.addons.mozilla.org;Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 when visiting AMO they'll think you are using Fx 52 (the deprecated 52.0 or ESR 52.x.x); but if you feel more comfortable adding one more extension, be my guest ; in any case, most of these installation problems from AMO can be overcome, for the time being, by navigating to the "classic desktop site" version of the extension page (scroll all the way down, then click on "View classic desktop site"; a session cookie is set (mamo); you should be again able to install from the "legacy" installation page) ... I have toyed with various UAOs for the "userstyles.org" site in Bk55, and the issue I reported doesn't seem to be UA related (but, of course, I might be wrong...). 1 hour ago, leland said: but for some reason I can't quote anyone's post in a response. I don't reply enough to know when it broke This reply was made by using latest Bk 55.0.0 (2018-06-23) (32-bit) on WinVista SP2 x86; as you can see, I had no problem quoting excerpts from your two recent posts; please start in safe mode or (better) create a new clean profile to test; if everything works as expected, it's some extension or user preference that interferes; only you know how you've configured things; on my side, things are working pretty fine . It was the last one to show the old newtab page without the search bar. Is there any way to resotre this page on the upcoming beta? It uses smaller thumbnails, and I prefer it. Also I find YouTube vids only work if I stop the video (during the load process) and play it again. Otherwise, it just keeps loading. Great work Roytam! 1

Sampei.Nihira Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Pale Moon 28 is bad for me. No Webextensions. Too many changes to include in "about: config" even just to install my favorite Firefox theme. Better to use Basilisk. 1

Otherwise, it just keeps loading. Yes, I see this 'hang on playback' with YOUTUBE behavior also, as described. It is NOT that much a problem, in that the YT website does 'pop up' a message saying to STOP and RESTART the embedded YT PLAYER. At which point, doing that does solve the problem, and playback begins.
TechnoRelic Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 (edited) @roytam1 <-- Added: ROYTAM1 did correct me (his following message) and state that NM28 should be considered BETA level -- so BETTER performance than ALPHA level. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/06/29/falcon-crest-star-lorenzo-lamas-files-for-divorce-from-fifth-wife.html Okay, the above (URL) FOX NEWS Article uses the SPOT.IM (Javascript driven) COMMENT 'plugin' for that. So, I did install this latest NM28 version ... palemoon-28.0.0b2.win32-git-20180630-b5b0b2844-xpmod The SPOT.IM did FAIL to load properly. A "STOPPED" message remained in the STATUS BAR. I switched back to the earlier NM28 version ... palemoon-28.0.0a4.win32-git-20180623-f58362790-xpmod The SPOT.IM did then succeed to LOAD and work properly. I was able to replicate this behavior here on my Old Laptop PC. So, I will stay with this OLDER version of NM28 for now. I have seen ODD behavior with regard to this SPOT.IM 'plugin' before. So, NOT certain that my personal experience matters that much. This may 'solve itself' in the NEXT version of NM28, is what I mean to suggest it. Quite a few major websites do use this SPOT.IM comment 'plugin' software now. I am aware that the NM28 Browser is ALPHA level, and so this is to be expected. Footnote: I care NOT about LORENZO LAMAS -- just a sample article. Added Later: These COMMENTS Browser 'plugins' for WEBSITES, like DISQUS and SPOT.IM, are fairly complex and JAVASCRIPT driven. So far, just lately, I am NOT able to get SPOT.IM to load in the BK52 Browser -- but NM28 and BK55 Browsers work FINE with SPOT.IM loading. Trying BK55 Browser would be my suggestion, as it has the most recent JAVASCRIPT engine. On the other hand, I have this fairly recent NM28 version working FINE on DISQUS and SPOT.IM too, as well as general Browser activity. Edited July 4, 2018 by TechnoRelic

But also, NM28 is ALPHA level quality just now. Here overall, NM28 is significantly LESS LAGGY than say BK55. But BK55 has a BETTER ability to do JAVASCRIPT and RENDER HTML properly in general. For me, BK52 does work only POORLY on my hardware and software combination. TOO MUCH accessing of DISK CACHE files, compared to BK55, which seems BETTER behaved on that issue. I plan to check BK52 maybe once a month, to see if there is improvement. But otherwise, I use NM28 mostly, and have BK55 as the 'slower, but gets it done' option. Edited June 30, 2018 by TechnoRelic

Sampei.Nihira Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 To install a Firefox theme you need to make some changes in about: config. Without these changes you can not install a Firefox theme. Test: https://addons.mozilla.org/it/firefox/addon/fox-grey/?src=search If I remember correctly it is possible to install a Seamonkey theme by default: https://addons.mozilla.org/it/seamonkey/addon/fox-grey/
