It's about two months late, but I have discovered that Google released a bug fix for Google Earth 7.1.x that I referenced earlier in this thread. I did not know that 7.1.x was still receiving updates.

Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 has been released, and it runs on both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard (different binaries). Older systems should use the older 6.2.x branch (6.2.2.6613).

The installer is available here: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/168344?hl=en (direct link here)
Release notes are available here: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/40901?hl=en&ref_topic=4363014

I received a message during install that KML and KMZ files needed to be associated to Earth, but that was all.

But you can always use https://earth.google.com/web/ if the browser you are using supports it.

Well. On either FF 52.9.1 esr or the latest @roytam1 Serpent/UXP, Google Earth Web says my browser is not yet (!) supported, whereas on Google Chrome 49.0.vvv.112 m it says "Unfortunately your computer does not support WebGL graphics acceleration; Google Earth cannot be loaded. Please try another device." Well, this is XP SP3 on a 3770K i7 powered Azus P8Z68-V LX... GPU-Z.2.15.0 (the last version which works OK on XP SP3, BTW) gives the report shown below. So, no... I guess not. If Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 works on my machine, on XP, great. Else, I'll try the web version on the latest Google Chrome on an alternate Win 7 SP1 boot partition, but if it really wants WebGL, then that's that.

Google Earth Web not working in Chrome 49, but the Google Earth 7 software still works fine and is satisfactory enough for me:

Sadly...

The best player and the only one with updated codecs for XP after the K-Lite Codec Pack dropped support as it was using the Open Codecs. Anyway, here comes my post, begging Chinese developers to keep supporting XP: https://potplayer.daum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=20789

Hi,

the alternative to Potplayer:

https://www.videohelp.com/software/PotPlayer&sa=U&ei=fqnSU7vtFMuWyATR5YCIBQ&ved=0CBMQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNETIPfXbcVKuN4aeE40YrxEVXMbPg

KMPlayer and SMPlayer are the most updated alternatives that can be installed with XP.

I wonder if they are as light as PotPlayer?

I have to agree about SM player, theres also a extension for SM player called SMtube which lets u search for youtube videos and play them in SM player with sm player.  It's implemtation is far superior to playing youtube videos in VLC also.  Doubt pot player even has that.

If Chrome 49 was released in 2016, how is the copyright date 2019?

(by the way, there is a glitch in this form where the image links don't always convert to images)

Maybe because that's google's copyright date not chrome since it's the same on Chromium 54:P
