TerrorFactor Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) Hi,I've tried out this program (started from hirens boot cd) on a Dell Optiplex 790, with an original 7 enterprise x64 SP1 .wim file. When I deploy it without changing any other settings, it works fine, but if I deploy it and try to add drivers (http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/optiplex-790-windows-7-driver-cab.aspx or the general dell desktop pack, same problem), it fails. It deploys, it reboots, but the screen stays black but you see the mouse pointer (not always tho'). you can't do anything (ctrl alt del, powerbutton on the pc to get a clean reboot etc doesn't work), only turn of the power/hold in the powerbutton. If you turn it on again, the problem is exactly the same.Any idea what could be wrong?EDIT: nevermind, I had the pc connected with the imageport and vga (tried the imageport first but didn't seem to work, so used vga), what caused the problem once in windows when the drivers got installed Edited February 29, 2012 by TerrorFactor
meigyoku Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Can I use this tool for Windows 8 Consumer Preview?
wimb Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) Can I use this tool for Windows 8 Consumer Preview?Yes you can Win 8 Setup ISO was mounted via R-mouse in ImDisk Virtual drive and then WinNTSetup was used to prepare the Target drive. Reboot and then Install of Windows 8 is extremely fast (a few minutes). Edited March 1, 2012 by wimb
JFX Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) Yep, since version 2.1.0.0 Windows 8 is fully supported Edited March 9, 2013 by JFX

Will this program help me install a slimmed down XP (MicroXP) onto a thumb drive and run the OS from it as if I did not have a hard drive on the system? MicroXP is a WAREZ release. As such it is not supported in ANY way on MSFN.Be VERY aware of Rule #1.a:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=boardrulesIf you want to put your OWN, licensed XP on a USB stick you'd better use this tool here:http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23553&hl=or the good ol' way (automated):http://www.usboot.org/tiki-index.phpManual:http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=14181&hl=(look for Tutorials in Dietmar's signature)Please note how this Forum is called:Install Windows from USBAnd NOT:Install Windows to USBFirst post of this thread, however:....Not Supported:- No Windows embedded version (this includes WinFLP)- No Installation onto USB disk *New* only Windows 7 and laterclerly states how the tool in this thread does allow for installing to USB BUT for Windows 7 ONLYjaclaz Edited March 12, 2012 by jaclaz
nitussi Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Ok thanks ..sorry about mentioning the slimmed down version, but i do still have a five license pack of XP professional that I bought a couple years ago that was never used. Thanks again!
JFX Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) What license is WinNTSetup released under?None. So let's say freeware Actually by the high download count I should consider changing to the beerware license Edited March 9, 2013 by JFX
IceBlackIce Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Nice tool, congratulations. Are you still developing it? I would add a save/load button for ease of use.Is there anyway to add the features mentioned in this program? http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=12201When I install Windows XP, I want to sometimes use the customers key instead of loading my own unattended file...yeah I know I could just edit the unattended file before loading it, but anyway more features cant hurt.
