Remove Shared Documents but keep individual ones ?
prathapml replied to midiboy's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yes Alex, you could use TweakUI to manually do that. download link If you want to automate that, use regshot to record the changes. If you need more info, just ask! -
what is pats, durex? And if you do want to post some fun topics, atleast please give a suitable topic name.

jquintino, taskkill.exe is not present in XP home or Win2k. You can use this alternative (much better too) - pskill. Usage: pskill PDFReader.exe Ensure you have pskill.exe in "$OEM$\$$\System32\" on your CD, to be able to use it from command-line. Hoping this helps...

Flashing BIOS on Other PC Disables File Sharing?
prathapml replied to gamehead200's topic in Windows XP
No no.... Not possible. That's the beauty of hardware - it either works or it doesn't, there's no intermediate stages. (yes, I know some of you have stories of HW that acted up, but that's different from a CABLE ) Best of luck with this gamehead200! -
Its all over the board. Just try searching for the optimization of what you need, in old posts (of mine ).

Well then you already know what is to be known. There's nothing to be added to what ninnox said.

Flashing BIOS on Other PC Disables File Sharing?
prathapml replied to gamehead200's topic in Windows XP
Hmmm..... This is not a definite solution, but I suggest using Everest Pro. AIDA development has stopped since a year, and been bought over by lavalys and become Everest. So I won't be surprised if AIDA had lot of bugs which cause your woes. -
Yes, TrueImage is very good for this. (the name says "Image" but it can do lots more than that)

That is to run your software2.cmd after a reboot. After the line above, you should have this (on WinXP): shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now restart in a minute... This will give enough time for the shortcuts to update and for the shell to fully load before its ready to restart!"shutdown.exe is part of windowsXP itself so no extra files to be downloaded.

IIS 6 comes integrated with Windows Server 2003. You cannot get it separately. @johny128 Yes, you can do what you want with IIS 5.1 itself. Use Host Headers in Internet Services Manager. page 1 page 2 Or use Apache.

just finish.... - choose that one

are you looking for freeware or commercial? (because the AV and firewall above is both free) OS optimisation, I never let any tool do it. Because tools just end up piling more junk on! Just use regtweaks and batch-files for the same functions that those apps do. For drive optimisation (defragmenting), Diskeeper is the best. Backup solution to replace ghost, there's plenty. Partition Magic can copy disks too. And then there's Acronis TrueImage 8.

Tutorial to do *WHAT* ? (network/optimizing/gaming/etc.) Anyways, there's no new tutorials being made or updated - most of them were made back in 1998-1999 (when win98 was the latest and greatest). A google search should show them up. Most of those sites would have either moved on to XP, or closed though. Please don't use ALL CAPITALS in topic title - its equivalent to shouting!

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Back to seraph's original condition about money, that's a tricky answer depending on the individual. For example, $500 is a lot in some places in the world, and anyone who'd spend that much automatically is assumed to have the best gamer PC. By contrast, I may say $4000 is the right price-range one should be looking at for a decent configuration. So it depends on each individual's preferences.

auto-prompt to change password

Thanks Wavey_Dave_76, That's a good idea. But a simpler solution would be nice! Well, if nothing else turns up I'll do the above. -

Total Head Fart - Runonceex
prathapml replied to gRoberts's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Its like this.... You run your RunOnceEX batch-file or .REG first. Then on your next re-boot runonceex is executed. It doesn't matter when you execute it or when it runs, as long as you just remember that simple process. Import your runonceEX into your registry one boot-up BEFORE you want it to get executed. You can also run a command to force the runonceEX to get executed right away rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess I hope I explained the above in understandable manner... If you have any questions, just ask! -
From that list you have up there, chose UT2k4. (look at my profile for reason ) But if really favourite game had to be chosen, gimme Age of Empires Series any day! Age of Mythology (Titans Expansion) is good for graphics, and Age of Empires 1 (Roman Expansion) is SWEET because it will play even on a dinosaur (cyrix 200 MHz, 32 MB mem) perfectly - giving hours and weeks of unspoilt strategy game fun.

Deleting LANG gave no problem with Indic languages either. Its safe to delete if you use only English.

Search for setupp.ini And since this is something outside the terms of EULA (which prohibits reverse-engineering), further reference to this might not be appropriate.

How to secure my forum
prathapml replied to ktx's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
You can find a lot of basic info here - http://forums.invisionpower.com and here - The Admin Zone You want to hear from experience, and want to know how to hack your forum so you can take steps to prevent others from doing it? You want links to learn it? Sorry, this is a suspicious case. Maybe you should wait to become a bit older, and also keep visiting various forums that are related to your interests. That's when you get the info from others. -
How to secure my forum
prathapml replied to ktx's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
Ah, now I understand. Well, there's no single way to stop it. The measures you take depends on how skilled your hacker is. Have you blocked his IP? Or if he uses multiple IPs, tried blocking an entire IP range? And for member flood of course, you can enable email validation and image confirmation (where you need to input the text from an image). If you are a customer of Invision, why not upgrade to IPB 2.0.3 ? That is more secure as well. Also, I would suggest reading the documentation that comes with the download (in the ZIP) for basic security, and also reading in InvisionPower's own forums about security. We can help you more if you tell what exactly is the hacker doing. More importantly, do you know WHO is trying to flood your board? If so, talk to him and try to solve the root cause of his enmity.... All the best * topic title edited
