Office 2003 is not able to install during setup for some. Try moving your O2k3 install from T-9/T-12/T-13 to GUIrunOnce - it works fine if you run the setup from there.

That was your topic's title?@bardugu Please use more descriptive titles, otherwise, neither will you get someone who knows what to do to stumble past your thread, nor are you making it easy for searching in future.

How to unregister zipfldr.dll in Unattended XP?
prathapml replied to argon007's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
EDIT: you beat me to it by a pinch.... In any case, the command I use during my uA installs is this: regsvr32 /u /i /n /s zipfldr.dll To understand what each of those switches do, type "regsvr32" into a CMD box. -
Nopes, home and pro have a blue scrolling boot-bar, and no edition info.

This is what differentiates MSFN from others
prathapml replied to prathapml's topic in General Discussion
A question which beats me since a long time. A thought that crosses my mind whenever I see the below: Have any of you noticed, that most other forums have a large "funnies" section? Members go there and keep posting "LOL"s away - and end up with truly gigantic post counts. And then, there are those primarily news-based sites (like ne0w!n) where you see members flaming each other to the bone, like cats and dogs - over the smallest issue and over age-old duopoly market products. Somehow, we don't seem to be prone to such tendencies (is it because of the general profile of our members?). We don't have too much free time to whittle away aimlessly (well..... atleast *SOME* of us, that is ) - we have real things and real jobs to attend to/take care of. Maybe the nature of the subject of our discussions dis-courages trolling. Unlike other forums, where 500 posts is pretty low and there are hundred/tens of members with post-counts running into multi-thousands - here, a member with 50 posts is a pretty great one. Because, remember we talk only useful things, not junk. You, blessed boys and girls, somehow do keep an ear tuned to the ground, and are sensitive to everybody - I've noticed that! Okay, the paragraph above has ended up being a large mass of words, but you know the general drift of what I mean..... -
Yes, f4k3r - you registered for the right reasons. Hopefully the repository of knowledge here will benefit you, and you'd be kind enough to share your own knowledge as well.

UXTHEME.DLL hack for XP SP2 Final
prathapml replied to Denney's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Now, now.......... Please, no conflicts here. I do know that vorte[x] has been providing a wonderful help to many of us with his regularly updated (hacked) uxtheme.dll since quite some time. Cheers to that! Raverod has been wonderful too. Now, it just seems to have been a mis-understanding between 2 board members - let's get over with it and shake hands. EDIT: I just got this funny thought- What would you two say when you hear of the wonderful discoveries of old made by 2 scientists - both at the same time, and independant of each other. Has a lot of similarity to what is happening here, I suppose. -
the dX9c redist uses the "extract and use switch" of "/silent" method. And if XPCREATE doesn't (as yet) support it, you can do it yourself from svcpack.inf. @Alanoll- yes, that's right - not everyone is on XP. Would you be kind enough to try answering the below? @all Now, my win2kSP4 uA setup installs dX9c and IE6SP1 from cmdlines.txt (made manually). Is that something you all are able to get functioning properly? I saw that the IE setup coughed out a .DLL dialog, and the directX was fine (bcos it got installed first). I noticed, however, that moving IE6SP1 install to happen after a reboot after dX install solved that problem - I now have dX9c at cmdlines, and IE6SP1 at GUIrunonce. But has it *GOT* to be this way? Does anyone else have this issue?

That's cool! So now our german members have all the details as well.

No, no need to disable WFP if you have replaced the TCPIP.SYS at source (I386) - since WFP can't restore an original MS version of it even if it wants to.

/me always been an nVidia fan, since the days it was an under-dog to 3dfx, until today where it has become *THE* establishment. According to me, nV always has the best features and innovation, and value for money (show me an X800's price tumbling below $150 in 3 months!). ATi has just had a temporary flash-in-the-pan with the last 2 generations of cards (9600 and above) - all older versions of their gfx suck in comparison to their nVidia equivalents. I'll say "go ATi" only when they are consistently able to provide sufficient supplies, and maintain leadership in the mainstream "Value" segment for atleast 4 years.

I voted for the group which is even now the largest among those who voted (97 out of 23,000). It'd be no use leaking out the (sssshhh...... secret) of my age - because it is no secret and can be seen in my profile!

That's well.... How about the CRC result? Because that is sometimes really the only common thing comparable between your file and the original. Even the MD5 sometimes changes, but not CRC32 results. So..... The english version's details have listed the CRC value as well, how about the german one's?
-
no offence meant, but I found that one (alchemy link above) pretty slow, poor UI, and most funny of all, the downloaded CRC-checker doesn't pass the CRC-check in winrar. (not a corrupted download, installs & runs fine). The command-line tool I use for CRC checking is attached. Far easier to browse using explorer, right-click a folder and "Open Command window here" and type "crc my_filename.ext". Moreover, the crc.exe utility (attached) is made by microsoft itself, and is tried and tested. The GUI utility I use for MD5 verification has been MD5summer : you can get it here. crc.zip

Since your monitor's drivers are unsigned, and there's nothing special anyway in those, windows will just select generic drivers (which support your monitor) for installing during device detection. If you had a monitor which required a driver outside of what windows itself already had, then your unsigned drivers will be used. The order of preference for auto-driver selection is like this: 1. Version 2. WHQL 3. Date of publishing 4. Publisher (whether MS or OEM-driver) It means that in a conflict of available drivers, the factors above will be applied and the right driver (according to windows) will get prioritised and installed. As per that list, if you provide an unsigned (un-WHQL'ed) driver of a higher version than Windows's own generic ones, that will be used. But you can' manipulate version numbering - it is defined by the INFs, SYS and DLLs that the driver needs.
-
Yeah, noticed that just now. Probably that's because we took opposition to each other? LOL
-
Take a look at the I386 folder, and you'll see some nv*.* files (put in by SP2). So that's where your MS Corp. drivers came from (nLite removed it only from drivers/SP2.cab). As for your version mis-match: Ha ha ha........ I don't know how you got such weird things happening. I have nothing at all to say. The next time I check-in, you might as well have seen a pteranodon flying over the top of your home's terrace (just kidding , no offence meant).

million cd's trashed .. please help :)
prathapml replied to bardugu's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
direct DL to VMware WorkStation 4.5.2 (34MB)There you go! Happy? But please note that while you can get the download from that direct link above, you still need to register and fill out a form to get a serial key for evaluation e-mailed to you. But if you have got hold of some sort of crack/keygen, then no problems. Enjoy! -
You either have more than 4 GB of RAM, or you have a 64-bit capable processor. If so, that text (PAE, as you said) will be displayed. No probs, breathe easy...... You've got the correct one (I think, from the info you've posted). @gabriel_buc That link to CRC & MD5 Verifier is dead (as of now). Know another place to get it from? Currently my favourite for MD5 verification has been MD5summer: get it.

Yeah, welcome to MSFN, and we hope your time spent here is enjoyable.

SP2: I don´t won´t Help Protect Your PC page
prathapml replied to webwilli's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yes it has. Have you slip-streamed the right _FINAL_ ? I know, this sounds funny, but are you sure you used the correct final version? First there was all this fuss of build 2179 spreading thru IRC, then a re-packed (and unsigned) RTM build 2180 coming from a lot of warez sites. The correct final version should have either been obtained from Official source - Windows Beta - or from a source whom you know is reliable. See this topic for details of the genuine release - SP2 final. But don't worry if you find out that you got/downloaded a fake - MS will RTW the SP2 by Tuesday, at the most. Then, you could use the known good file, and start out with your adventures. -
SP2: I don´t won´t Help Protect Your PC page
prathapml replied to webwilli's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Has this started happening since you slip-streamed SP2 final? In any case, I don't get that problem, and I believe the relevant values to prevent that dialog-box coming up is: [Data] UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes -
roel's suggestion is the recommended one to use. You can use it for other drivers too. Moreover, using that method, if you don't have an nVidia gfx card in the machine you're using your CD on, the nVidia drivers won't get installed. Its simple enough to be done by anyone.

WinHex can compare, and so can UltraEdit. Then there is FileSync. So, off the mark....... get set...... GO......... not me, I meant you!
