  1. Since the first time it boots, your custom boot-logo (that's what its called ) is used, it looks like you've done everything fine. I'd suppose you're installing a critical update (which replaces the kernel) during GUIrunonce, between the first and second boots. If not, then you need to provide more details for anyone to help out.
  2. Just a possible solution..... Have you both upgraded your office 2003 to SP1? Available here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
  3. Looks like he was asking about this (the pic in my attachment). Look for the pic under "Manufactured and Supported By:". If so, that's pretty simple - read this section of the guide: OEM Info If not, that's OK as well - today we've learnt a new hack.
  4. OK, so now a method to access CD directly from JS - nice addition to the perpetually growing base of knowledge here.
  5. Look here in this thread: drivers from CD Just entering the drivers section would have revealed that topic (its stickied)! If I remember right, there was, somewhere, a thread with a utility (compressed with 7-zip) which loaded at T-39, and used drivers in the way you want.
  6. Yes, I have Opera tweaked to be pre-configured and squeaky clean, right from the first run. If you have any more questions, post in the current topic after checking out the thread linked to below:many tweaks Go there to see more details about Opera pre-config, and a few notes about it: That attachment for opera pre-config which I have there (winrar SFX), is for Opera7 - easily ported to Opera7.5, once you get the hang of it. Once you see it, you'll see how to pre-set a skin as well.
  7. That's right. All you need to do is get the latest *SIGNED* WHQL-approved drivers (62.76, the last time I saw) into your drivers on CD (use OemPnpDriversPath method). Mine works fine that way. Since there's a slight change in the structure of the final SP2's INFs, nLite may not remove the integrated nVidia drivers - doesn't matter, since they are only 500 KB or so, and you can put in your own (updated) drivers.
  8. Is it an OEM version? If so, it uses something called SLP (System Locked activation Protection, if I remember right) which takes care of the activation. Either you can experiment as to how you can unattend your XP and also retain SLP, or you can check with your vendor if you can exchange your current CD for a retail one, for a small difference in price.
  9. 1. Direct license orders from Symantec - will ship it to you. 2. We'd rather not discuss sources from where you get software illegally. Those are the 2 places where you can find it. If you already have the previous build, its still not a problem - just slipstream the latest update "SAVCE_9.0.0.1400" into your install source as this thread says.
  10. @dirtyepic Thanx for clearing that up! Nice of you to take the time to explain it properly - long informative posts never were a problem. Though we already knew most of it by now, the level of detail in your post has been enlightening.
  11. Oh god..... Not that much of complication is needed. Just "z:\packages\AdobeReader60\Adobe Reader 6.0.msi" /QBwould have been enough. Just FYI, you can use "/QB-!" switch to make the setup fully non-modal (i.e., no error messages or dialog boxes, if it fails it will do so silently), and also remove the "Cancel" button. That ability of MSI installers to remove the Cancel button comes handy, if your CD is gonna be used by absolute beginners, who'd like to meddle and click at everything on screen (even during setup) and then complain that things haven't installed as expected. You can add the property "REBOOT=ReallySuppress" as well, if needed, like so: "z:\packages\AdobeReader60\Adobe Reader 6.0.msi" /QB REBOOT=ReallySuppress The function of the "REBOOT=ReallySuppress" is self-obvious...
  12. But I still don't get what he means by "movie" which runs "during" setup. Bcos Windows Tour in XP, and 2k, both run *AFTER* setup. It is so in WinME/98 as well! @dbasinge- I hope you're talking about Windows XP. If so, then: 1. are you talking about the balloon which pops up asking if you want to take the "windows tour" after setup? then use Skyfrog's suggestion. 2. Do you mean the ads/bill-boards during setup which act as the back-ground, (and are annoying to some people) which talk about how good XP is, what its features are, and what a good decision you have made to use XP, etc.? 3. Or what xolox says? If you are talking about xolox says, then there's no real way to disable it, other than to use nLite (WXP install CD shrinker) to remove OOBE. The others can confirm if there's any other way.
  13. Right. And here's a tip which will speed it up (install) further: 1. Copy away the directory crahak mentions, to somewhere else. 2. Open a command window, and change to the directory you copied previously. 3. Run the command "msiexec /A ---.MSI" (replace "---" with name of file). 4. It will lead you through the process of making an administrative install point. 5. Then SFX compress your Admin Install-point, and use it in the normal/known way. Now, you have reduced the size of the installer, as well as the time taken to install it.
  14. RC is "Release Candidate". Well now....That's a simple thing ain't it? It's been stamped with RTM string because it is called the RTM, because it *IS* the RTM... LOL, quite funny actually, but the logic goes something like that.
  15. You can use the guides available in this forum to carry out what you describe. You can also visit here for a detailed step-by-step guide - the process described there would be same as what you need, just that you'd be dealing with only 1 OS, instead of the many described there: multi-boot guide Then, use cdimage to optimize the CD to make all four installs sit on one CD.
  16. Thanks for the info. For those who don't have the new build, the newest update can be slip-streamed into the one you already have. (details in the thread linked to above).
  17. You have made a nice "How-To". Having given thought to every step of the process.... Thanks for sharing your analysis with all of us!
  18. One thing you might consider, is to look up these two topics in the forums: Office Shrinker - here nLite - here (slim down your OS install source). Using those 2 sources for reference, you might be able to fit both on a single CD. Lots of people have done it before, so there isn't really a reason why you can't do it.
  19. Topic name change notice: changed from - "Office 2k3 Shrink(beta) , testers needed" to - "Office Shrinker" Reason: Not beta anymore, all tests reported stable
  20. WinAmp 5 rocks! No matter what it is that I want to play (or rip/record), it has to be either winamp that does it, or a plugin for it.
  21. That is really the problem (which we try to avoid by putting everything on 1 CD). Its not easy to automate the "2nd CD" feature. This topic has more details - how to do a 2 CD install
  22. LOL. Now there, looks quite possible, doesn't it?Well, Xspectrum, welcome to MSFN forums. Have an enjoyable time here. As for the bad beginning, don't really bother - because many times it might be upto a week before someone answers something you might have posted.
  23. Could be either of the 3: 1. The download is corrupt (but then you should a dialog box saying "not a win32 program"). 2. Something happened due to which your windows isn't able to execute EXEs anymore. 3. It is still loading itself in RAM (are you having too many apps running at once, how much RAM do you have?).
  24. Why not? It's not _that_ huge... No, maybe he actally means its too small. OK, you all, we've gone sufficiently off-topic. Let the next post be about data recovery.
  25. Well, what Alanoll is saying is true. Hey chinaboy, would be nice to see more of you around (if you'd commit to not spam). @Bashrat- To view those sites, you go to: CPL >> Regional/Language Options >> Languages >> Install files for East Asian languages.
