Welcome to Windows Media Player 9 Series
prathapml replied to bucketbuster's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
No, you don't really need all that.... Just these in your registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences] "AcceptedPrivacyStatement"=dword:00000001 "FirstRun"=dword:00000000 ;Media Player License Autoaccept [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaPlayer] "GroupPrivacyAcceptance"=dword:00000001All of those regtweaks are to be applied through cmdlines (T-12). And searching would have given you this solution a bit sooner disable first-run in SP2's WMP9 I had the same problem with SP2 too! It was pretty simple as I later found out - do post back on how it goes. -
The default wallpaper can be set to what you want, check out this thread: set wallpaper unattended A simple search would have shown up that.....

Re-direct all those doubting thomases who ask why they should bother making an unattended CD or ghost image, to this page. Check out this guy's harrowing experience, concurs with most of ours too! How do you feel about seeing another person suffer as much as you? See the linked html file or download the attachment below to see the full scale of his adventure (that HTML file has comments by others too). I assure you, its worth the 10 mins or so that it would take to read it. Now..... who's gonna introduce him to unattended installs? rant.zip

How many cups of coffee do you drink in a week?
prathapml replied to tiredoflogins's topic in The Poll Center
Wow! I'm in the majority here..... Well, I don't drink coffee (normally). If visiting someone, they'd normally OVERWHELM you to have coffee - so that's a different matter. I just drink milk mixed with sugar and a chocolate-based powder (complan, horlicks, etc.) - yah... yah... I know I'm a baby. -
Thanks for finding out about this irritant, and posting it here - it will be useful to the many german XP users who frequent this place.

A "me too" here.

Do you think WMP 10 should be available for Win2K?
prathapml replied to mendipjohn's topic in The Poll Center
"2000 has seen its day, now move aside (it doesnt deserve any further updates)" here - and I do run win2k - just keep providing bug-free Service Packs, and it will be enough. -
Well, http://www.blogger.com, a subsidiary of google, is once again open for new sign-ups. So check out the blogging experience. Also, during the course of putting up content anywhere, you normally use pictures and other files alongside text - for those times, you need a host on the internet to store/serve those files for you. Well, http://www.freewebtown.com is as good as it gets. A good, clean, and free site - fast UI and good data-speeds . Just upload files, and then link to it from elsewhere. (But please clarify this for me - when I saw details about it, it said it provided a 100 MB disk-space, now it only shows 1 MB - how is that?)
-
You mean the update alone (266 MB)? If so, does it contain anything else as well? Also, is any other language on the CD? Were you part of the SP2 roadshow webcasts? (if so, the CD you got would be RC2). Or did you have to register somewhere for getting SP2 delivered - if so, what is the site address?
-
None that I know of.... You will need to install winrar the normal way, to get RAR support and the shell extensions.
-
You can have your winnt.sif on the floppy (for automation), and set it such that the drivers will be taken from the floppy. So now you just put the needed drivers on a floppy each time you want to install to a different machine, and put that and the winxp CD in the drive, and boot-up from CD. Only issue is whether the drivers will fit on the floppy. You could use the MSFN official guide to make your CD with drivers. guide. And the LAN-cards driver-pack from here.

A better option: 1. Make a background (640x480) that you want, in bitmap format. 2. Download and install StyleXP. 3. Use it to change the background to the .bmp you want. 4. Your original logonui.exe is kept safely aside, and this one is the new default. 5. Copy away the modified logonui.exe to where you want 6. And the next time you need to replace it (after a windows install), directly use your modified logonui (no need to install StyleXP). Hoping this helps....

In other words, that file is a CABbed file - so rename it with a .CAB extension, and de-compress/extract it using winrar/winzip. Then within that, you'll find the actual file to be edited.

All the best for your growth - the design of your site seems good (IPB for forums was a wise decision).

Put together an AMD Athlon64 FX, an nForce3-Pro MoBo, an nVidia GeForce FX6800 gfx, 2 gigs of DDR 433 memory, a 15,000 RPM HD........ Wake up, buddy....... *pinches self*

Maybe the driver-pack for sound, can help? thread

You can use nLite to slim-down your Windows-source, and "Office Shrinker" to reduce the size of your Office2003 source. Try searching (in the forums) for details.

Windows 2000 & Nvidia Drivers
prathapml replied to krismark's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
The process to be used for win2k is same as XP. Also, searching for this question would have saved you some time, waiting for an answer. Here's a similar thread discussing exactly what you have asked: nVidia latest drivers integration -
SP2 Unattend working in final release?
prathapml replied to rattler's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
That documentation is most probably instructions that apply to a slip-streamed XP SP2 install-source. I doubt if it will work with modifying it in the ServicePack files. Anyway, if you are going to install from CD, then you don't need the "/unattend" switch - just rename unattend.txt to "winnt.sif" and place it in I386 directory - and boot-up from the CD. I also saw that the "/unattend" switch has been replaced with "/u" switch - so its not really a problem. -
I haven't yet seen a french release of the XPSP2 - it was scheduled for September, so this almost confirms that you might have stumbled across a pre-release copy of it. Or, you might have got a modified version of it from somewhere else. Just check for these two things: 1. You got the package (approx. 250 MB, I think) from a direct Microsoft.com download link. 2. That the build number says "5.1.2600.2180". If so, then you got the right update - if not, wait till september, and download the correct one.

Please try searching, this was the result that came up: how to do a 2-CD install Hoping this helps....

Another option to consider would be to use the IEXPRESS tool, that comes with windows itself. (just run it from "Start>>Run")

how 2 taskkill this application
prathapml replied to Astalavista's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You could use the task-manager>Processes to see a list of what was running before and after the dialog box popped up. And that way, you identify what is causing it. If you want to do the same from the command-line, "pslist" - a freeware tool from SysInternals can do it. Hoping this helps... -
This command to kick-start the processing of RunOnceEx, will work only from within a batch-file, and only on win2k/xp/2k3: rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess I suppose this is what GM was referring to. And it should work perfectly fine, please give more details on what are the scripts/cmds/methods you are using on your uA install.

Exactly! It overheats too! But the northwood IS an older generation than prescott, and will be stopped soon - all new (consumer) P4s will be based on the prescott. You're right about that - but there's some more difference among the two - the details must be available on the respective MoBo maker's site.
