  1. First, Mandrake DOES do some nonsense to the partition tables that it is not supposed to. Fedora or Lycoris and such distributions of linux are a better choice. If you do want to stick to Mandrake, v10 is old - v10.1 is recent, and might have this bug fixed. Second, its not clear from your post as to what are the things you have already tried. There's any number of things possible. Its not even clear now whether the problem is due to a scratched Windows CD, or a partition problem, or a bad-sectors on HDD, or something caused by Mandrake. First, the easiest solution: You should always install linux AFTER windows. That's because linux uses a boot-loader, which can auto-sense your windows, and set it up as a boot-option. Try removing all partitions, and installing windows after re-partitioning - use a 6 GB primary partition at the start of your HD, as your C:\ drive. Then leave 1 GB space, as another primary partition - for your "/boot" partition with linux (that much space isn't needed, but just for safety). This is because, no partition above the first 8.4 GB can easily be made bootable with linux. Then after those initial 2 partitions, set the other partitions for your windows data/backup; for your "/" (root) partition to use with linux, etc. Of course, there is non-destructive solutions (if you don't want to lose data on your HD) - but that is by nature, long drawn out if-and-then sort of things - a big time-sink, literally. Hoping this helps....
  2. Hey, What's the message here.... Anyone having time enough to put the binary in plain-text? lol
  3. @Astalavista Please don't post ed2k links or such. You well know the rules of the forum.
  4. You need to install it - you'll get the winzip32.exe in your installed folder. The setup.exe of WinZIP is useless for silent install. Hoping this helps....
  5. The rest might be okay, but the notifications part won't work. You'd better do that, because those are .REG entries, and this is an INF - the two work in different ways. You can use a separate .REG instead.
  6. No, none of the tweaks in your post above, can do that. I do remember though, that there was some lockdown policy that removed both the Default stickies from the start menu. Try looking for all the HKCU or HKLM keys in your regtweaks, with "----\policies\---" sort of paths. And yes, do tell us WHAT it was that disabled it when you find out.
  7. Take it easy man, It was a joke! And no, it is not a bug. Automated translators can only go so far... and machines were always stupid anyways - there's only so much that algorithms can do. See souldreamer's reply above too.
  8. Ha ha... Interesting quiz:
  9. Which is why... editing the sysoc.inf is better avoided. This much is quite sufficient, why make things complicated.... [Components] msmsgs=off WMAccess=off
  10. Everybody knows that pressing the "Print Screen" key will take a screen-shot of whatever your screen is displaying at the time. But what do you do when you want to only take a shot of the currently active window? Do an Alt+Print Screen That way, only the currently active window will be imaged and copied to clip-board. After that, you can do whatever you'd like to, as normally. Paste to Paint, MS Word, IrfanView, PhotoShop, or whatever.... Basically... make the title bar of whichever window that you want to take a picture of. Then hold down the "Alt" key, and press the "Prt Scrn" key - and then paste into whatever imaging application you want. Again, not a new tip, but its nice to have it listed down - so that we can ourselves search for it years later (when its forgotten), or for newbies to read and learn.
  11. does the logon work fine on an already installed/running windows? Does this only happen when you use it unattended?
  12. huh? Where/what.... What do you mean? Among the ads? Even searching for nlite in that site gave no results!
  13. Right. There's many guides hosted here - gotta search. Another good guide to refer to - http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/ Follow that guide EXACTLY and you'll have your X-in-1 CD/DVD ready easily.
  14. Okay then, does "/SILENT /SP-" work?
  15. Well, whatever else, but certainly not java - atleast not for efficiency. Java would be the last choice for one making an app to run in a WinPE environment. Nor C#, since that requires the .NET framework.
  16. So why do you need to put the word "Invision" in dot-dot form? Yes, 2.0.1 is available, but it is just an upgrade. You need the intial full package, its useless without that. And that can't be downloaded freely on the correct side of the law! And yes, there's also a maintenance release version planned for 2.0 within a few weeks (maybe 2.0.2 or 2.1). Even more wonderful news: WOW!!!!
  17. @rodent It seems there was a small correction needed in the INF. So using the one posted above wouldn't work. Well, a new guide for Maxthon, easy and geared towards using INF is posted here - [How To] Make Maxthon your default browser
  18. Topic re-opened. There was a small typo, and that was fixed. Tested, and the above method works perfectly. So now that this mini-howto is done, would be nice to see how many are using it.
  19. Install it at T-12 (through cmdlines.txt) - then it will be available to all users.
  20. Hi jagod, Welcome to MSFN forums! As for winzip, its not new. I see nothing different in the unattended install method for it. Been the same all the way since v8.0, I suppose. Even WinZIP 9.0 SR-1 (which is what is leading to say its new) is been around for some time. Here's a link to a thread (with switches and instructions) that discusses how to silently install WinZIP: Winzip 9 SR-1 - unattended install
  21. BTW, ZoneAlarm AntiVirus isn't in that review! ZoneAlarm Security Suite 5.0 and higher, come with this very good anti-virus. That one is being used by a lot of people now (don't start flaming its firewall, its only the AV we're interested in).
  22. @MCT and buletov cough *hoarse voice* search... cough linky @SimonSays The 6th post in this thread (mine) has a link to details, check it out. And no, v6.6 is just speculation. For all we know, it could be v6.5 as well.
  23. Ooh la la.... Aren't these fantastic! Its literally scary! But aren't these the same cases that you've posted miniatures of, above?
  24. Is there an official home page of that tool? I'd like to see where it originally came from. Link from where you got it please?
  25. And mine too!So repeat, lol HA HA.... rip-roaring And again, cancer10, please remember to post humour in the "Funny Farm" section. *thread moved
