  1. Ha ha.... this thread is getting a bit freaky.... I always thought this was an english forum - now I'm feeling foreign. (at first glance, that is) Please see that this binary doesn't get too far. We can keep outlines, such as "conversations till the end of today". Can't imagine what happens if this thread went on for 10 days! All the g33ks here will feel right at home, lol
  2. Oh well... there's probably a reason for that - This is anyway the logonui and boot-screens forum - imagine what would happen if everybody attached 20 boot-screen pics a day. Okay... let's get back on topic. Sesshoumaru, is your logonui working now? Well, if it doesn't, we probably need to wait for alanoll to come along to this forum. If you want him to see this topic, try sending him a PM.
  3. No need to get the DLLs - it is part of windows itself. Just directly usable files, those are.
  4. More details please. What OS? What are you doing to remove the driver? Are you removing thru device manager, or uninstalling its associated CPL from Add/Remove? If its win2k/xp, you need to see the properties for the device driver, from device manager, and delete the files it requires manually (after uninstalling the driver for that device). Then, also delete the INF for that device. Then after a re-boot, it should mostly be using generic drivers - then install the driver version that you need.
  5. Oh, but its not yet "released" as such today, I suppose? 'Coz the topic title, and first-post aren't updated yet.... Well, quite worth waiting till saturday for.
  6. WOW!!! This is great news. A new version of the Sound driver-pack.
  7. If you want to completely remove activation, then that's not legal. But if you're only making this CD for your yourself, then you have 2 options: 1. Set the install to automatically activate itself (by setting Autoactivate=yes) in winnt.sif 2. Have the activation file on CD itself. Here's how to do that: Activate your windows Go to the folder "C:\Windows\System32" and copy away the file "wpa.dbl". Now put that file in this path on your CD - "$OEM$\$$\system32\wpa.dbl". Both the two possible options for you, are simple. Its just that you can't use this for multiple computers - you can only use it for 1 PC, but as many times as you want.
  8. 1. Open Office 1.1.3 install method is pretty much the same as older versions too. 2. Silent install method is quite simple. 3. Since no one here is interested in free/legal stuff, I wonder how searching for a silent install of Open Office threw up 3 pages of topics/results (which means lot of discussion): SEARCH 4. OpenOffice is far slower, and larger install size than MS-Office2k3 (o2k3 can be slimmed down to a 30 MB install-source). And lastly, please remember I'm saying all of this in good faith - because I'm an OpenOffice user too. So don't start a flame or something. Just remember the "Search" function of the forum is your friend.
  9. I suppose the method for unattended installing SOTO will be quite similar to OpenOffice, since its based on that. link - to download SOT Office 2003 for windows. link - for silent install methods
  10. Hi to you too, mulberrycrush! Welcome to MSFN.
  11. @Sesshoumaru Previous post of mine (above) has been edited to have an image attached. That shows the screen in which you would normally "Reply" in topics, and an arrow pointing to the "Attach" button. Hoping that helps.... And yes, all the best with your logonui!
  12. No, it shouldn't. Try applying the INF file, and the effects will be seen - HKLM is not the one.
  13. If that is the reason, you can as well rename the files to 8-dot-3 format: Although, I suppose the file names in conflict would be the files extracted from these updates. But still, if there's a chance of the above, go ahead and try renaming.
  14. @crahak Hey, you CAN get the win2k style startmenu is what he's saying. (maybe in dis-similar words, but classic start menu is what he is referring to) @zoran 1. To get back XP-style start-menu, don't choose any options relating to "Shell" in nlite's unattended screen. 2. If the [shell] value for classic start menu was set from winnt.sif, you'll automatically get the mycomputer/mydocs links on your desktop. 3. You aren't getting WINXP theme, because you would've removed "Theme" support, as alanoll said. Do not remove things that you don't know about. Stay with "Recommended" and everything will be okay.
  15. @BoardBabe Here's an example, of what you need to do: I hope that makes sense.... What does the above do? It will run all the items, starting from 005 to 080, then make them run (that blue command does it), and then puts in a new set of RunOnceEx entries (which will be run at next reboot).
  16. Hello tgrendel, And welcome to MSFN forums! First off, I'd say putting in action what is in those guides will help you the most. Once you've done that, and have your CDs working, you'll have a clearer idea of what is happening, and how to go about it. Well, some time is needed, and a CD-RW (so that you won't waste blank CD-Rs). And then, you can go to the next thing. Now, about what you have asked, if you mean to say that you need the drivers for a hundred different chipsets integrated on the windows CD - yes that's possible. The only limitation is that a CD is too small to contain that much of files, ha ha. If you mean, this instead: - A system that was installed with an unattended CD (with drivers) that you made. - Now you're copying this system's "C:\" drive to another HD - This other HD is going to be placed on a PC with a different chipset than the one it was copied from. - Will it boot? Now if that (the above para) was what you meant - the answer is more complex. 1. You need to have the drivers on the unattended install. 2. You need to use something called "SysPrep" to take out all the drivers it remembers. (if not, it won't re-detect the new chipset and install the needed driver) 3. If these 2 things aren't done, the system now won't boot with a different chipset. 4. That's all, after the sysprep, it will work perfectly. The bottom-line? Anything is possible, you just need to read the help already available around the forum, and do some testing/work at your end as well. And if you have anymore things to be clarified, just ask. Hoping this helps....
  17. Do you mean the temporary connections? (like dial-up, DSL, etc. - those which aren't LAN) Then this link could help - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/restore_dialup.htm
  18. Yes, pskill is a better option. Because, I've found that XP home doesn't have the taskkill.exe facility usable. So, I need to use pskill instead, for XP home unattended scripts. And since I want to standardise on the scripts I use for pro and home, I end up using pskill on both. Pskill is simple to use. SysInternals.com has a free package called PsTools that give many of the (unix) tools that we want on the windows command-line. PsKill is one of those, and is powerful and simple to use. http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pskill.shtml
  19. Hey, you don't need the floppy. I dumped it long ago. You can use Bashrat the Sneaky's driver-packs, to slipstream the mass storage drivers. Or, atleast the instructions there would be helpful for your purpose. Or you can use nLite.
  20. I believe only the original Win98 CD has this tool. (in folder "\Reskit\MSBATCH\setup.exe") Installing that tool, helps you create a "msbatch.inf" file which you then need to keep in the Win98 cabs install folder. Then just directly running setup.exe will see the msbatch.inf and do a silent unattended install. *moving to win9x forum
  21. Reading the forum help, carefully will tell how to attach files. Such large amounts of text are simply too big, to be not attached.
  22. Maybe you removed it with nLite. And if that's not so, we'd like to know how else you did it! Its getting curious.
  23. Nero Vision Express - can do it, I suppose. nero.com
  24. There's any number of apps you can open at the command-line (or "Run" box). Just open CMD and type "PATH" - then all EXE's in those folders can be run directly. Typing these, will bring up this: control - Control Panel iexplore - IE msimn - OE wmplayer - WMP mplayer2 - old WMP winword - MS Word (if its installed) .......unending list!
  25. Yes, if it is not a site that has any other warez. But software that is not released generally, is probably so for a good cause - maybe last minute bugs, or agreements with OEMs to make them feel special, so that it is available in the retail market a bit later. In such cases, its probably improper to have the unreleased software, and still be on the correct side of the law.
