  1. Please Send Immediately!!!! akipp@indiana.edu
  2. The windows CD is not scratched I know for sure, it works in my friend's PC... Currently, I don't have ANY form of Windows on my computer because the only disk I have for installation is XP and it won't work, whenever it starts the installation process from the CD it gets the error I posted about... I don't know if I could use that batch file that was described above after thinking about it, since I can't boot to a command prompt or windows, but please send it anyway... I will try using Fedora and other versions to see if it can correct anything. Please continue posting ideas.
  3. UPDATE! I got ManDrake Linux 10.0 running on my computer, I can boot into it now and I am using it to add this thread to the forum... However, when I attempt to install windows XP on my computer, I get the same error message... Please advise me on how to format the harddrive or correct this problem, thanks.
  4. Tonight, I tried to install ManDrake Linux 10.0 by using 3 installation discs on a reboot.... During the installation, the computer froze and I had to restart it. Now, I can not format and install either... Prior to the installation, I had Windows XP. My computer is a Dell 9100, P4 3.0 w/ HT, 512 RAM, 40 GB HD, Radeon 64MB. When I insert the XP setup CD and attempt to reinstall, it prepares to setup, however it then switches to the blue screen of death and says "c0000221 unknown hard error systemroot/system32/ntdll.dll" Please, someone help me with this, I have no idea of what to do!
  5. Does anyone use this combination.... I am running Service Pack 2 RTM 2180 and McAfee Security Suite 6 w/ Virus Scan Pro 8.0... I think that this combination slows down McAfee quite a bit... Post any ideas... ALSO: Please post the link to the large list of incompatible proggy's that microsoft put out for SP2
  6. Sounds like a personal problem... I bet little green men were there too right?
  7. OK I reinstalled Windows XP completely last night and then installed SP2 from the Microsoft site and Internet Explorer is still only slowing up on that one site still. I guess it is a problem with that site or something the site is doing.
  8. OK I have been watching things and it seems that things start to freeze up with Internet Explorer when the CPU Usage gets to about 50 or higher on iexplorer.exe and System Idle Process. BTW this most commonly happens when I visit the site http://www.askkbew.net
  9. I downloaded SP2 from the microsoft website, and installed it using the built in extractor and installer. I installed Windows XP off my installation CD, the original, not slipstreamed, and then put XPSP2 on the computer. This is the first installation of SP2 Dial-up is my net connection. I see no high level processes on my task manager.
  10. I installed SP2 RTM 2180 and ever since then, when I boot up for about 10 seconds more things are alot more slow, and when I am trying to load large webpages, Internet Explorer is much more laggy and slow... Not slow in the sense that it takes longer to load, but that the window freezes and often times must be stopped from the task manager... In many cases, that will not help and I must reboot to rid myself of the frozen window: any help?
  11. What exactly does 'concurrent sessions' mean?
  12. What is it? What is it for?
  13. Will installing Windows XP SP2 interfere with installing and using any BootScreens or LoginScreens that worked with SP1??? If so how do you correct this?
