There's definitely some way to control from a theme... you need to edit the .theme file to use the font you want.

How do they do it?
prathapml replied to macampbell's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
Man.... ain't it nice to use a sig like that, and scare people? They think that you now know their OS, browser, IP and ISP.... But actually, even with such sigs your IP is only visible to yourself (other than the server). If you want to see how it works, or you want such a sig for yourself, go here - http://www.danasoft.com. -

nor do I know how to help then! What I *DO* know, is that following the guide *EXACTLY* will give you no problems at all. -
uhh... Websites and Boards section has a lot of forums listed. But if you still want a list of every good forum I've ever visited, brace yourself for a 10-page long list! (so does everybody else - all people have their own list, I guess)

Yes, I suppose. For most regtweaks you need to logoff or restart.

That's a mis-conception. WinXP with SP2 allows USB 2.0 and bluetooth and wi-fi, and all that..... And it takes just 5 mins to configure XP to run faster than ws2k3.

For really good value-for-money, check out the ATi All-in-Wonder graphics cards (buy one of those based on Radeon 9000 series or higher).

Hey, check out this: GeeXboX is a full standalone media player. It's a bootable CD based on Linux which allows you to watch movies or listen to music. It supports most formats, such as MPEG, AVI, DivX, XviD, Ogg/Vorbis (Ogm, Ogg), RealMedia, MP3, DVD, VCD and Audio CD. Go to homepage for a few examples of its capabilities. Home-page Screenshots Howzzat? Does it come close to what you want?

Fully unattended windows xp annoyance
prathapml replied to nazz's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
In your winnt.sif file, under the [Data] section, add: AutomaticUpdates=yes. That should stop the automatic updates page from showing. You can try using UnattendSwitch=Yes - that will totally remove all such screens. But then, there will be no user creation screens either. So for that, I suggest you use the oobeinfo.ini -
You aren't very clear on this... You want to set a password authenticated from where? [CD/bios/hard-disk boot-loader] And after the BIOS boots into your CD, it will load the boot-loader on your CD (not the autorun). And boot.bin can do nothing for this purpose. Try using EasyBoot, or something similar for setting a password to boot into your CD.

T-bird and firefox not installing
prathapml replied to rendrag's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You can install it in another way as well. Try the topics linked to below: config ff/tb for start-menu method (my post at end of the page there). -
No, don't worry, it will install fine. That TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb-refers to the command-line to use to install Office2k3.

You play games (like Halo), you open multiple tasks, you browse the net a lot... Then what's a server OS doing on your desktop? Use WinXP or Win2k Pro, will be far more responsive.

winnt.sif [Components]
prathapml replied to Real_Mystique's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I certainly couldn't understand that german language forum link! As Yzowl says, read ref.chm for all components list. But some are still undocumented. Get a full list here - http://gosh.msfnhosting.com/oc2.htm. -
Unbelievable problem with Firefox installation
prathapml replied to midiboy's topic in Application Installs
@midiboy Try this method (my post at end of the page there). Other topics where getting rid of "import settings" wizard is discussed: 1. link 2. similar topic 3. edit the prefs.js I think its important that the user profile's prefs.js should not be deleted once the extension is installed. Otherwise relevant settings will be gone. Lastly, installing extensions is supposed to be fairly easy. You just replace firefox installer with the one from mozilla installer, and then edit the INI file to install all the XPI extensions that you want. You won't have all the problems that you previously mentioned, then. -
Here's the registry code for disabling Windows AutoUpdate: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update] "AUOptions"=dword:00000001Other keys to play around with: ; Disable Autoupdates (using policies) ;[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU] ;"NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000001 ; If you enable AU, you can set the time to update through this key ;[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update] ;"AUState"=dword:00000007

Well.... a multitude of answers here already - but I'd say re-make your winnt.sif with SetupMgr.exe - that should fix it for sure (simply because it won't generate bad code). Then, after testing that it works fine, continue adding more things.

@soldier1st On that point, I say w98 is more boring than anything possibly could be. Which is why its favoured in some work environments - its so dull that you eventually find your work to be more interesting! @Aeron Ah, nice to see that its not just men all over! I doubt women are resented here, they make for a refreshing change. We won't feel threatened, probably feel happy. In fact, there do exist many female members as well, on this board. Its just that they probably stay quiet, away from all the heat and dust that we generate, lol. Hey, talking about those players online who kill you immediately on spawning... I personally found that training by yourself (in "Instant Action" mode) with the bots is good practice. I normally pick a map, have 11 bots to compete, and slowly raise the skill level of the bots. When you're able to win the match against the bots at "Inhuman" skill level, you know that you're ready to play that map online. I don't know why I somehow dis-liked the SinglePlayer missions. But other than multi-player death-match, Onslaght and Assault modes are nice as well.

This is not intended to be an insistance.... But SP2 slowing down, and all those other issues you see, only because of installing it individually. Slip-streaming and installing it, I've seen ZERO issues. Most problems that people blame on SP2 can be traced to something else. As far as compatibility is concerned, I'm yet to see any app that worked fine before SP2 and doesn't after SP2. And the combined disk/memory usage of a XPSP1+hotfixes windows, is more than an equivalent install of XPSP2. Right. Similarly, if you started out with a slip-streamed XPSP2 and did not install junk, you won't ever have any unnecesary outbound requests.WMP9 and WinMesg 4.7 - the benefit is these don't need to be installed separately (therefore taking more space on HD and CD). SP2 simply has the older version replaced by this newer one. And in corporate environments, just the fact that IE6SP2 is so much better (pop-up block, sanitised ActiveX, lockdown) alone is enough to push SP2 deployment. As for SP2+wireless... SP2 gives the best possible support EVER for wireless. And its easily manageable, with config and wizards, etc. If SP2 is not good enough for Wi-Fi, then nothing else is (excepting for 3rd party software, which can just as well be run on SP2/SP1). Security Center? I don't ever see its face! Simple registry key to disable it and its gone. And if windows firewall is getting trouble-some for you, you can just as well disable it. On the whole, SP2 brings better driver and SCSI-SATA-RAID support, better security, easier usability in many areas, more control for the Administration, and so on... There's no reason for you to pass it up. You aren't saying so in your specific case, but what really gets the goat of people who have to maintain PCs day-in and day-out, is the fact that so many of the problems that people complained about have been taken care of with SP2, and then the same people will get frightened (maybe because of unlicensed usage of XP ) and opt to not install SP2 - but still complain that XP is not good.

Now that's a classic! The poor thing had an open request for testers since dec23! And not too many encouraging responses. I was standing by and watching helplessly, because of my ISP blocking standard IRC ports. So finally he's decided to tempt you to test it!

Well, I meant to say, XPCREATE is an automated tool... so once its has done its share of work, you won't know where to begin or what to do. Which is why I prefer doing it from scratch by myself. XPlode does help a lot, but is not an automated tool (it won't guide you through what has to be done, its not made for that). It just simply executes the commands you tell it to. I suggest you stick to batch-files for now, and later when you know what you're doing, use one of those other solutions (XPlode/WIHU/WPI/etc.). The bottom-line is, do and try whatever you want... but keep it simple, and one change at a time. Because, you don't want to be in a situation where you used XPCREATE,nLite,XPlode all at once, and then when something isn't working, you don't know which of these progs has caused it.

Dunno.... A bit of both probably. As for the depth.... the Matrix series is not just a Movie! Its a cult, its a world, its something altogether its own!

Remote Access SW that actually works!
prathapml replied to 01communique's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Okay, since it wasn't only me thinking there's something odd here, link to file and email address removed. For one, trial downloads are available everywhere. Second, someone who gives an email address and goes away doesn't quite seem serious about participating on the forum. You'd expect that the least one could do after throwing a commercial pitch, is to hang around in the thread and answer questions asked by forum members.
